Cameron felt her fingers brush his and a slight grin twitched at his lips. He grabbed her hand and looped their fingers together, squeezing her hand. Little did she know that he didn't really like scuba diving or snorkeling. Too much pressure in his ears– especially underwater– brought back a lot of unpleasant memories. He didn't have hardcore PTSD (though he did have the occasional nightmare) but high pressure underwater didn't help.
Ava smiles to herself when her hand is grabbed. Cracking an eye open, she glances over to him. It’s just them in the water right now but a couple of people are walking along the beach. A couple with an adorable Corgi puppy and a couple of kids catch her eye. “Aww,” She coos, careful to avoid getting water in her mouth. The puppy’s giant bat ears are beyond cute. Corgis and French Bulldogs just have the best ears in her opinion. She watches them for a moment longer before returning to relaxing and floating on the water.
(Should we skip or keep going?)
(oh shit man I thought I answered. Do you wanna skip to when they're back in the hotel room?)
(It’s fine, dude. I just wasn’t sure what all they could do while floating in water lol. Yeah, that’s good with me)
(I can if you don’t want to.)
(Of course!)
Ava hums happily to herself as she works on changing into some dry clothes. Spending the day out on the beach had been perfect and relaxing. The water was cold but refreshing and the sand felt magnificent on her feet. There weren’t a lot of people out and about but she did see a couple of super cute dogs and some lovely looking families. The day really helped her forget about the unfortunate conversation from earlier. At least until she saw the messages on her phone. Rather than getting herself worked up, she decides that she’ll give Chris a call after she’s ready. Her brother is the more reasonable of the two so she feels as though they can actually have a civil conversation. At the very least, she’s going to try.
Cameron was relaxed across the bed, his mouth open in the slightest as he stared happily up at the ceiling, smiling. He had a wonderful time just floating around with her, and relaxing on the sun-warmed sand. He turned his head to watch her move around and dress, smiling a bit more. He loved spending time with this happy, bouncy Ava. Her conscious had changed completely and had made their day so much better.
"What do you wanna do now, babe?"
Ava finishes braiding her hair before stepping out of the bathroom to face him. This wonderful mood that she’s in has even inspired her to wear a sweet white sundress with a lace trim. It’s certainly unlike her to willingly wear something like this but she’s in such an amazing mood. The beach really does do wonders to improve her attitude. Smile on her face, she sits down on the edge of the bed, absentmindedly lacing their fingers together as she takes his hand. “I’m up for anything.”
Cameron was beaming at this point when he saw her dress. She never wore anything like it, like, ever, and it was a pleasant change. He moved closer and sat up to take her into his lap, snuggling her. He knew this was a wonderful chance to get as many snuggles as he pleased. Whenever she was in a good mood, that's all she ever wanted to give.
"It's up to you, Ava. I think this trip is more for you than it is me." He relaxed his head down onto her shoulder.
Ava, noting his look, can’t help but laugh quietly. She never wears dresses unless it’s a special occasion but she figures that this vacation should count as a special occasion. Sighing happily, she wraps her arms loosely around his neck as she settles herself on his lap. The happier she is, the more affectionate she is. This level of joy is rare but going to the beach usually does make it happen. She smiles and presses a few light kisses to his face as she fiddles with some of his curls. “Mm, tomorrow we could try surfing or jet skies but I think the places are closed right now so maybe we could walk on the pier?”
Cameron leaned back with her after scooting across the bed, rubbing her back idly with a big hand relaxed on the small of her back. He was smiling just as much as her, pressing a couple kisses back. He loved it when she was affectionate. That was probably the only thing he's change: to be able to get more affection from her. But otherwise he wouldn't change a thing.
"Hm surfing? I never took you as the type." He lowered his head a little so she could reach his curly hair better. "Maybe we could go fishing? Maybe crabbing? A walk on the pier sounds great."
Ava rests her chin on his shoulder, perfectly content. Moving her fingers through his hair, she hums quietly. She loves his curls. Cuddling and stuff like that has never been something that she’s comfortable with but she knows how much he enjoys it so she makes an effort. Surprisingly enough, she’s actually starting to enjoy it because she’s become so accustomed to it. She can barely sleep at night without them cuddling.
“I’ve been surfing a few times before but it’s been forever since I’ve done it. From what I remember it’s pretty fun.” She kisses his jaw a few times but nuzzling his cheek. “Fishing sounds nice but I’ve never been crabbing before.”
Cameron shut his eyes and relaxed under her, rubbing her back still. He sighed deeply. He felt comfortable and sleepy. Whenever they cuddled, he always wanted to take a nap or something. Probably because whenever they did cuddle, it was usually before they went to bed together.
"Crabbing's a whole lot of fun. It's like fishing but you don't have to hold a rod the whole time."
Ava stifles a yawn as she allows her eyes to close. The back rub feels amazing but it’s making her tired. Whenever she can’t sleep he usually rubs her back or her shoulders so she just associates this with sleeping. Her body relaxes as she cuddles up against him.
“We should go then. You’ll have to teach me what to do.” Getting the hang of things is pretty easy for her unless it’s with cooking. She’s still a disaster in the kitchen but she’s starting to figure out how not to burn coffee and how to make cookies that aren’t hard as rocks.
Cameron blinked open his eyes and yawned faintly, pulling her closer into his chest and kissing her gently. He didn't want to sleep yet. He rolled over onto his side, grinning. He gave her back a couple pokes, wanting to mess with her.
"Alright. It'll be a lot of fun," He promised through faint laughs as he poked the sensitive parts of her back and stomach.
Ava curls into his chest, starting to doze off. The phone call from earlier is still lingering in the back of her back. Luckily, spending the day at the beach has almost made her forget about that. She would hate to ruin their trip because her family consists of insensitive assholes.
She jokes awake at the feeling of the most sensitive parts of her stomach and back being poked. “Cameron!” Laughing, she playfully smacks his shoulder. She’s only ticklish in one spot and she’s fully prepared to start a war if he tickles her.
Cameron giggled and continued his pokes of her back and tummy. He searched for her ticklish spot when she was on her back, tickling her stomach and under her arms, a big grin on his face. He would rather a tickle war than a nap that would throw off their sleep schedule. He enjoyed their tickle fights anyway.
Ava squeals when he tickles a sensitive spot on her side. Thus begins the start of the tickle war. She rolls over onto her stomach and climbs onto her hands and knees in hopes or retaliating. Reaching out, she begins to tickle his sides and stomach and wherever else she can reach, all the whole laughing. Her eyes land on a nearby pillow and she gets an idea. She grabs the pillow without hesitation and hits him in the arm.
Cameron laughed and moved after her, grabbing her and lifting her up into the air, leaving her to wave the pillow around in the air. He cuddled her back down into his chest, but continued tickling her tummy from a point she couldn't reach him to retaliate. He gave small, teasing kisses to her neck to add to the tickling sensations. He loved teasing her. It always made her so frustrated, but in a good way.
“Cheater!” Ava laughs, thrashing around like crazy when he lifts her into the air. Knowing that she can’t effective use the pillow she opts for chucking it at his head. Just when she thinks it’s over and they’re back to cuddling he starts to tickle his and teasingly kiss her neck. She squirms and giggles, trying her best to break free. “You win! You win!” She laughs loudly, gasping for air from the ruthless tickling.
He had somehow kept a grip on her and continued nipping and tickling happily. His smile was warm and big between kisses.
"I will not stop until you are dead!" He cried through giggles, still tickling and prodding her tummy, squishing her tum.
She can’t keep the stupidly happy smile off of her face and the laughing has yet to cease. Twisting around, she does her best to escape.
“No! You’re a monster!” With a noise that’s half laugh and half battle cry, she manages to break free. She tackles him and sits on top of his chest, grabbing his hands to help stop him from tickling her. “Gotcha,” She giggles.
