"Спасибо." Ava accepts the plate with a slight smile. "I still can't believe that there's going to be two of them." Laughing quietly, she takes a seat in one of the free chairs. As far as she knows, twins don't run in their side of the family so it probably runs in Mallory's side. Not that it would affect her if it did run on their side. "Everyone is so excited and I've never seen Chris this happy before."
Cameron grunted over his breakfast, numming the eggs happily. He missed his dad's cooking. In his opinion, it was the very best, ever. No exceptions. He wondered idly, with all of this chatter of children, would she want any? Of course it was absurd to think that, because she liked being fit and able to do things with him. But what if she wanted some?
Ava takes a bite of her food, humming happily at the taste. "Еда восхитительная." Apparently both being liked by dogs and being an amazing chef run in the family. She lapses into silence a moment later, loosing herself in her thoughts. Things are so crazy back home and she feels almost guilty that she's missing all of it. She just has to focus on the fact that taking a break from the madness will do her some good.
"Спасибо моя дочь!" Lachlan hummed, cutting into the egg with a soft hum. Cameron watched her zone out and eat, blinking with concern. He shook himself out of it and went back to eating with a soft sigh. It was quiet at the table as everyone ate and thought about their own thing.
Ava glances over to Cameron when she briefly feels someone watching her. The look on his face is worrying but she figures that he would tell her if something is wrong. If she's still worried later then she'll have to talk to him later. With an absentminded huff, she returns to her thoughts.
(Oh, I should probably tell you this before I forget. I’m leaving to go out of town tomorrow so my responses will be wonky until about next Wednesday.)
(oh okay! have a nice time.)
Cameron finished up his small breakfast and wiped his fingers on a napkin, taking his father's plate once he was finished. He trotted upstairs to get more than sweatpants on, followed by the pair of puppies who just wanted some attention.
(Thanks!)
Ava stands up and quietly deals with her plate. After offering Lachlan a small smile, she heads up the stairs, Kreja at her heels. "Are you okay?" Heading into the bedroom, she studies Cameron. The original plan had been to wait for him to talk to her but she's rather impatient.
Cameron had tugged out a few things to wear and he was changing just as she walked in. He glanced up as he fit his jeans on, raising his eyebrows.
"Yes, I'm okay. Why do you ask?" He threw a t-shirt on then a sweater.
"You seemed off while we were eating." Ava's eyes don't leave him for a second. For the life of her, she can't think if a single reason why he would be upset and she's positive that she hasn't pissed him off. She leans up against the wall with a soft sigh.
"Nope, I'm good." He grinned and stood up to grab his heavy boots. "Do you wanna go out to the market now? To the pet store or something?" He laced up his boots swiftly, his fingers working and finally tying the laces.
"Yeah, let me just grab my coat." She now unfortunately just has to wait for him to talk to her if something is actually wrong. It's frustrating but there's nothing she can do about it. Crossing the room, she grabs one of her thick coats and shrugs it on.
Cameron grabbed his wallet and put it in his pocket, walking back downstairs to his father doing the dishes. "Не могли бы вы присмотреть за собаками, отец? Ава и я будем делать покупки на рынках. Вы что нибудь хотите?"
"Нет, сын мой, я просто пошел за покупками. И я хотел бы ухаживать за собаками."
Ava shoves her phone and wallet into one of the deep coat pockets before trailing after Cameron. "Be good," She gently tells the dogs, a little worried about leaving them. "Da se nisi usudio probati bilo koji od tvojih uobičajenih ludih budalaštin." This is directed to Kreja.
Cameron trotted out of the house into the cold winter, humming happily as he crunched out into the snow. They'd have to go into town, but they could walk or something to avoid the traffic. Ava might get cold and whiny, but it was better than sitting around for hours in traffic.
Ava checks on the dogs once more as she exits the house. The sharp frigid wind is a harsh slap to the face but she doesn't comment. They are in Russia so she had expected as much. Pulling her jacket closer, she trudges through the snow, following him since he seems to know where he's going.
Cameron paused for her to catch up before slipping his hands nonchalantly into his pockets. "We're gonna be walking to the city, so you should get used to the cold. It's actually not that bad today." He missed the cold winter mornings, but this was more early winter than frigid ass cold which was typically associated with Russia.
Ava briefly glances at him before diverting her bright blue eyes. Everything is covered in snow. In her opinion, this is a very dreary and bleak scene. She offers a small noise of acknowledgement but doesn't actually say anything. Cold weather just isn't her thing. She can try to get used to it but that doesn't mean that she'll ever actually like it.
Cameron didn't meet her gaze, just focused on trudging through the snow. A lot less snowfall, he noticed to himself as he walked. He remembered one time there was snow to his knees back when he was born. And it was a lot warmer than it was. He sighed into the cold, his breath floating up. At least his love for the country hadn't changed.
Ava runs her thumb lightly over the marking on her inner left wrist, lost in her thoughts. Things have been pretty crazy lately. Everything looks mostly the same with all of the snow so she doesn’t bother looking around. Once they get inside she’ll be more relaxed. Sighing quietly, she rolls her shoulders back and stretches out.
Soon they made it into town, where the sidewalks were scraped and salted, and it was just a bit warmer because of the emissions from the cars lined up and honking. He paused for her to keep up and gestured for her to keep close as the crowd on the sidewalk grew thicker.
The busy and crowded town is more her speed. She perks up a little and starts to look around, taking everything in. The large amount of people and the high noise level is almost soothing. It’s interesting to watch all of these people interact with each other and their environment. Weaving through clusters of people, she has no problem keeping up with him.
And soon he led her to a small but nice little dog store. The sign was sort of rained out and dull, and the store itself wasn't flashy to the eye. He opened the door, and a small bell dinged softly above him. Inside there were racks of dog things, to leashes, foods, bath supplies, costumes, and even booties and sweaters.
The store is adorable. A little rundown on the outside but cute nonetheless. She follows him inside and looks around. It’s hard not to look for new collars and toys for the pups but she somehow managed to keep her focus solely on looking at the sweaters and the booties. For now at least.
Cameron didn't seem to worry about thinking about other stuff as he scooted over to sniff at the booties. He picked out a couple cute ones for the girls– one had roses on it and he found that really neat– and turned to find a few small sweaters for them, too. They'd love it, he bet. Because that way they wouldn't be cold or hurt by the snow.
