Cameron grunted in response. Just as she was shouldering on her jacket, he glanced up. "I wouldn't tell anyone. I feel like I'm more respectful than that. Me myself being a hitman and all. You're acting as if I'm working for a news press. I'm not."
"I know almost nothing about you. For all I know, you'd turn me in just to make a dollar. Why the hell should I trust you?" Ava asks him, unimpressed by his words. It takes a lot more than just a few promises and insisting that he'll keep his mouth shut to earn her trust.
Cameron shook his head at her stubborn ass. "Because I have things to hide too. Everyone does." He turned to look at Lily as she trotted into the room. "And I don't want you outing me as who I am either. I have money to make. And I don't think I could make nearly as much as just turning you in. Because after all, if I did, you'd probably blab about who I am." He bent down to ruffle up Lily's fur.
It's not people finding out she's alive that she cares about, it's the fact that she'll have to go back to the Kosci. "You're damn right about that," Ava snorts. If he decides to rat her out, she wouldn't hesitate to bring him down with her. "I don't want to put my life in the hands of a stranger, even if I do have something on them as well. It's just not worth the risk."
"But I don't think we are strangers. We know more about each other than the usual person would. You know I'm saving money, you know I'm a hitman. And I… well, I know you like vodka," He said with a laugh. "But leave if you want. I don't care. Just don't rat me out."
"I guess that's true," She admits with a sigh. They do know more about each other than most other people. She cracks a small smile at his comment about her liking vodka. "It is nice to have someone to talk to other than Kreja……I guess you're stuck with me for now."
Cameron hummed softly, laughing softly as Lily licked his face enthusiastically. He pulled away and plopped onto the floor from off of his bent feet, sighing slowly.
"I think I'd be okay with that. I already offered, didn't I?"
"Doesn't mean that you won't end up regretting it," Ava points out with a quiet sigh, shaking her head lightly. Glancing down to Kreja, she watches as the dog bounds over to the man on the floor, putting his paws on his chest.
Cameron chuckled softly and looked up at the dog with a bright grin. "Hey, I've regretted a lot of things. Even if I do regret you moving in, it won't be at the top of the list." He arched his back to grin at her toothily.
"Well, it's good to know that you're not so boring that this would be the thing that you regret the most," Ava murmurs, her eyes glued to Kreja. "What's that grin for?" She raises a brow at the look on his face.
"What grin?" Cameron inquired with a chuckle as he slowly relaxed back down against the hard floor of his kitchen, smiling up at the dog.
"And what are you doing, Kreja?"
Ava peers down at him and the dogs, amusement flickering across her face. “Don’t play innocent,” She scolds him, though there’s no bite to her tone. Kreja sniffs at Cameron’s face before licking his cheek.
Lily decided to join Kreja and plop down on Cameron's knees, which made him grunt softly in pain.
"I'll play as innocent as I want," He said once the pain cleared. He chuckled at the lick, gently stroking Kreja's head.
Ava slides down to the floor and sits, watching as the dogs happily attack him. “I hope you’re enjoying being on the bottom of the dog pile,” She says with a small grin. Kreja climbs onto his lap and sits down, still licking at his face.
Cameron huffed at the sudden shift of Kreja, letting his own head relax back onto the ground so he could look at her.
"I'm not sure wether I am or not yet," He said with a genuine grin.
“Just wait until Kreja falls asleep on you, that dog will crush you,” Ava chuckles, leaning to the side a little so that she can look at him. At the mention of his name, Kreja’s ears perk up and he looks over to his owner. Barking happily, he paws at Cameron’s face, hoping for some attention.
Cameron shut his eyes to avoid his eyeballs being ripped out as the dog picked at his lips and his somewhat crooked nose.
"Ah, yes, but he's crushing me already," He joked with a broken laugh through the paws of the large dog. Lily barked softly from Cameron's legs, clearly wanting some type of attention.
“Kreja, be careful. He’s clearly fragile,” Ava grins as she watches her dog basically smother the man. Her pup is enjoying all of the attention but the poor Saint Bernard isn’t really getting any. Scooting over to them, she pats her legs. “Come here, Lily. I’ll give you some attention,” She tells the dog before making a few kissy noises.
Cameron let out a small exclaimation of protest at his alleged smallness, glaring playfully at her as she beckoned Lily, who didn't seem to want to move. But she barked softly anyway, leaning forward a little for some pats, while Ava's pup was getting many from Cameron, to avoid his face being ripped off.
Ava snickers at his reaction to her comment. After a moment, she moves over so that she’s practically sitting on top of Cameron’s leg. Reaching over, she starts to pet Lily and give her a boat load of attention since her baby is hogging attention from the other person in the room. Kreja bites at Cameron’s hair and tugs at it playfully.
Lily's tail thumped happily on Cameron's other leg, who sighed at the scooting forward of Ava, glancing at her but saying nothing. He yelped softly when his hair was bit, laughing softly.
"What you crazy dog?" He asked with a clear laugh in his voice.
Ava flashes Cameron an innocent smile before returning her attention to Lily. “You are such a sweet girl,” She coos, loving on the dog. When she notices the Akita pulling hair, she snickers. Kreja barks and nips lightly at his nose, still really wanting to play.
Lily leaned forward and set her head down on Ava's lap with more tail thumps. She seemed very happy with the attention she has been gaining.
Cameron laughed at the small nip. "What, do you wanna play, Kreja?"
Ava dotes on Lily, giving the dog her complete and total attention. “Good girl! You’re so a sweet little baby!” She murmurs, kissing her head. Kreja barks loudly at the mention of playing. He bounces up and down on Cameron’s chest before pulling at his hair again.
Lily barked softly, her tail now wagging her entire bum as she was showered in love. She reached up and started giving the human kisses.
Cameron grunted with each bounce of the dog, grabbing him gently. "Okay, okay, calm down, you want to play." He rubbed where his hair was tugged, smiling sheepishly.
