Cameron rolled his eyes and continued chatting with his friend– named Zack– about the upcoming event. He told the other quietly of his recent life events and how the party would be a wonderful getaway with his "girlfriend". He smiled a bit as he told the other, who expressed some confusion but didn't question it as much.
Ava studies the files for a few more minutes before gathering them up and heading upstairs. She tucks everything away before changing into an all black jogging outfit, complete with a black baseball cap. Going back downstairs, she tucks aways a few items in her pockets before turning to Cameron. “I need to do some recon, see ya later,” She says before giving a small wave. Time to stalk her prey.
(Do you wanna do another skip?)
(Yep! To when they get to the party?)
(Hi, sorry, I'm back now. ^-^)
A few days had passed and gray clouds fuzzed over the usually sunny area of Isla. It seemed as if it were going to rain, and very soon. The air felt heavy and damp, forcing Cameron to shut his window as he got ready for the afterparty. He had dug up his old dress shirt and picked out a tie, slipping it on loosely before fitting himself into a pair of dresspants. He messed with his hair and combed it so it didn't look like its usual fluffy, puffy mess, and did other things like brush his teeth and put Lily up in a place she wouldn't destroy everything in the house. He didn't want his dog getting caught up in the rain as he and Ava were out.
(Hi, welcome back! :) )
Ava moves around the bedroom, getting ready. She applies the last few touches of her makeup before checking herself out in the mirror. She's dressed in a formal royal blue with a plunging neckline as well as a pair of nice black pants. Her blonde hair is pulled back into a curly bun to keep it all out of her face. With a slight nod, she figures that she’s as good as she’s going to get. “What do you think, buddy?” She asks Kreja, turning to ppl at him. The dog barks and wags his tail in what she is going to assume is approval. She presses a kiss on the dog’s head before exiting the bedroom. “Bye, Kreja!” She blows him a kiss before closing the door and walking down the hall. Peering out of one of the windows, she discovers the darkening clouds. Rain, how fun. “Cameron, are you ready?” She calls out.
Cameron gently dipped food into two bowls, looking uo expectantly for Kreja. Hm? Must be up in Ava's room. He turned to fill a bowl up with water, and took it up for Kreja to enjoy while they were out. Cam opened the door slowly, peeking in at Kreja and setting down the bowl for him.
"Yeah, I'm coming down now," He called back, trotting out of the room and shutting the door before Kreja could follow suit.
Kreja’s head shoots up when he hears someone come back into the room. He jumps off of the bed and runs over to the door, barking once. When he sees that it’s just Cameron, he let’s out a low whine and his tail drops. Much to the dog’s disappointment, the door closes before he can successfully escape. He jumps back onto the bed and curls up with a huff.
Ava grabs a few things and stuff them into a small handbag. Bringing a knife or two isn’t going to hurt anyone. When she spots Cameron, she blinks in surprise. He looks really nice. “Would ya look at that? He is actually capable of taming that hair,” She teases with a grin.
Cameron called a gentle apology to Kreja, idly wondering if he should leave the door open for the dog. He decided against it, glanced at Liky as he passed her and immediately put on a poker face at the compliment, running his hand sheepishly through his hair, blinking as he thought of a comeback.
"A handbag?" He asked once he spotted it, trying to spy at what was inside it as an excuse not to look at Ava's smug expression. He picked up his keys and wallet, slipping on a neat pair of dress shoes.
“Obviously. It just kills me how observant you can be,” Ava snorts, shaking her head in amusement. When he tries to take a look at what’s inside, she swats at his arm. She grabs a pair of low black heels from the front door and puts them on. “Come on, let’s get going. Getting caught in the rain won’t be fun,” She tells him with a light shiver. What she’ll never admit is that she has a fear of storms ever since her plane went down last year. It’s irrational, she knows, but it’s not her fault. She can’t control what she’s scared of.
The takl man scooted away from her swat, evading it swiftly with a chuckle. Cameron picked up an umbrella with a small grunt, taking it from a closet and grinning toothily as he held it up like a sword.
"It won't be, which is why we have this miraculous invention. You have to stay kinda close though, or the water will drip on your shoulders." He opened the door, and a fresh wave of air flooded into his house. He hummed happily and opened the umbrella, holding it out for her and waiting with his keys in hand to lock his door.
“Oui! Be careful with that thing!” Ava exclaims, taking several steps back when he starts brandishing the umbrella like a sword. “You’re gonna end up poking someone’s eye out,” She scowls as she eyes him warily. When the door to the house gets opened up, she takes a deep breath. This is going to be…….interesting. She takes the umbrella and adjusts it so that they can both be situated from the rain. This means that they have to stand right next to each other but that doesn’t bother her. A loud clap of thunder echoes in the distance, followed by a flash of light. She jumps a little, her body tenses like a coiled spring.
Cameron grinned, trying to lighten up her tensed mood. "Come on, Ava, it's only a small walk," He encouraged quietly, beckoning her a little with the opened umbrella, hunching himself under it. He himself didn't really mind rain, since they lived right near a beach, so they got a lot of tropical storms and hurricanes. He hated tornados, though. He turned once she was out, taking the umbrella again so he could hold it up over their heads, being the taller one with the advantage. He locked his door, checked it, and started at a nonchalant trot to his car.
Ava scowls at him, not appreciating his words in the least. “Shut up, Cameron,” She mutters as she takes a few steps forward. God, she hates this so damn much. Once she’s officially outside, she’s completely stiff and obviously uncomfortable. She swears that it takes longer than usual to get the house locked up but she declined to comment about it. She sticks right by his side as they make their way to the cat, wanting to be as far away from the rain as possible. Every time thunder can be heard or lightning can be seen, she flinches and moves even closer to him.
Cameron decided for once to take her words to heart and shut his trap, taking her to the side of the car and opening it for her, genuinely concerned for her supposed fear if rain and thunderstorms. It must have been the reason as to why he never saw her when it rained. He shut her door, closed up the umbrella and shook it out before popping it into the backseat and ducking into the front seat. He buckled in, glancing at her for when she was ready to go.
Ava all but jumps into the car when he opens the door for her, muttering a quick thank you. She gets buckled up before turning to glare out of the window. It’s hard to find something that scares her but storms are one of the big ones. Every time it rains or starts storming, she locks herself away in her room and hides until it’s over. This isn’t something that she’s proud of but it’s what she has to do to get through it.
Cameron nodded curtly and started the car, inhaling slowly. "Do you want to put something on the radio? To try and distract yourself as we're driving?" He asked rather tenderly, his concern shining through in his deep voice. He didn't want to force her to go, either. If she wanted to stay, he was prepared to go alone and say that she had fallen ill.
“Yeah, the radio will be good,” Ava murmurs, giving a small nod of her head. Reaching forward, she messes with the nods and buttons until she finds a radio station playing music from the 70’s and 80’s. She turns the volume up an appropriate amount and let’s the music drown out the rain and thunder.
Cameron hummed quietly with the song on the radio as he drove, on edge as he paused at a light, whose lights seemed overbright in the gray sky ahead. They flicked green and he continued, turning onto a quiet backroad on the way to the party. Despite his companion's sullen mood, he was quite excited to go.
Ava twists at one of her silver rings nervously, working on distracting herself. The music isn't working too well anymore which really sucks. "Tell me about your friends. How did you meet them? What are they like?" She asks a few questions, hoping that talking will keep her mind off of the brewing storm.
Cameron glanced at her when she talked, humming quietly in thought. "I knew them through college. I actually remember when they got together and how happy they were together through the year they got together and the moment they got a job. They were wild, and they still kind of are. They don't plan on having kids, they travel everywhere and do all kinds of things. I bet they want to renew their vows just because they saw some other couple on their journey do it."
