(It's all good! Okay, the faking dating is basically when two characters pretend to be together for some reason whether it be for a party, to appease someone's parents, or whatever and they end up actually getting together. I'm not totally sure why our characters would be doing it but it's just an idea.)
(Oh alright! Maybe they're going to a couple's thing for one of Cam's friends and he doesn't want to go alone? So she does him a solid and goes with him as his "gf"?)
(Yeah, that could definitely work!)
(Yissss! So want me to start?)
Cameron, a few weeks later was rifling through his mail, tossing some to the side, most likely bills to pay. But his fingers touched soft ribbon near the bottom of the stack, spotting an invite. He pulled it out and his heart dropped. It was a vow renewal for one of his good friends, and he was invited to come. A tiny A partner is required made his heart drop. Maybe he would tell them he can't go.
Ava sits on the floor in the living room, absentmindedly chewing on the end of a pen. A thick folder and several papers are spread out on the table in front of her, all perfectly organized. She's working on the file for her next target and has hit a dead end. This guy is high up in the Devil's Crusade gang which means that he'll be harder to take out. It's a lot more work than usual for her but she doesn't mind, it keeps her busy.
Cameron tossed the invitation with an angry sigh, plopping the rest of the mail down and lowering his head. He really wanted to go. Free delicious food and alcohol. But he didn't have a partner, and going along was not an option in a multitude of areas. What the hell am I going to do? He asked himself.
Ava looks up from her work when she hears Cameron's angry sigh coming from the kitchen. "What's wrong with you? You're thinking so damn loud that I can't concentrate," She comments, half teasing, as she drop the pen onto the table and glances over her shoulder to look at him.
Cameron sighed slowly and limply gestured to the discarded invitation. "I need someone to go with me to a vow renewal for my friends'. I don't have anyone and I can't go alone."
Ava listens quietly. A vow renewal? Sounds rather cheesy to her but he seems to be very disappointed that he can't go. She feels kind of bad for him. "You want me to go with you?" She offers.
Cameron looked up at her with a small sigh. "I'd like that. I've always been invited to their random reunions and stuff, but they don't know I got a divorce, so I can't be mad… but I'll take the offer. Thanks."
“Yeah, it’s no problem. I could use a break from all of this anyways,” Ava gestured to the pile of papers on the table. “If you don’t mind my asking, why haven’t you told them about getting divorced?” She asks curiously.
"It was rather recent," He said with a sigh. "About a couple months ago it was offical, so… I wasn't really able to contact them, they went away out of the country, and they must have just returned. Something bad must've happened between them…"
“Oh, I hope that’s not the case,” Ava comments with a frown. It seems obvious to her that he cares a lot about his friends so she’s hoping that nothing is actually wrong with the couple. “Isn’t it a good sign that they’re choosing to renew their vows?”
"Oh, yeah, it is," Cameron said with a faint sigh, leaning back in his chair. "I just don't know what happened between them, you know? I'm kind of concerned." He chuckled meekly.
“It’s a good thing you get to see them soon then, huh? You’ll probably get a chance to figure out what happened between them,” Ava comments before closing the file and turning around to completely face him.
"I guess. But I doubt they'll tell me," He said with a faint laugh. "Anyway, we can wear whatever we want. They only want us for the afterparty, which is basically the best part of their get-togethers."
“We don’t have to sit through the actual ceremony?” She asks, breathing a sigh of relief. “Well, that’s great news.” She would have probably been bored just sitting there. “I have two questions. When is this after party? And does whatever we want include pants or do I have to wear a dress?”
Cameron chuckled softly and shook his head. "No, they hold it privately. Then they come out and let us dance. It's really fun. People I know have gone in nicer pants, but I've never really been able to pay attention to what the women wore. Sorry." Mainly because I wasn't able to pay attention, He thought bitterly, reflecting back on his ex-wife's treatment of him.
“The party sounds like fun,” Ava hums thoughtfully. “Damn, I’m stuck flying in blind.” She laughs a little. Trying to figure out what to where is going to suck since she’s assuming that jeans are out of the question. It could be worse, she could be stuck going to one of her father’s cocktail parties. Those were the worst. The press was unbearable and the company was beyond boring. This party should be much better.
Cam chuckled softly, yawning. Just don't wear a skirt or a low-cut dress and you should be fine. Or really, don't wear a dress. I can't imagine wearing a dress and dancing." He shook his head at the thought. "Anyway, I'll call and RSVP for us."
“I won’t argue with that,” Ava comments with a grin. Dresses and skirts are really her thing, she much prefers to wear shorts or pants. “Trust me when I tell you that dancing while wearing a dress isn’t fun,” She says, shaking her head. When he says that he going to call and RSVP for them, she flashes him a thumbs up before returning to her file.
Cameron chuckled and nodded as he dialed the number on the card. "It should be fun. They get a really expensive kind of alcohol, it's absolutely the best thing ever," He gushed as he held the phone up to his ear, listening to it ring. He talked to hid friend for a bit quietly, making sure to not disturb his friend.
"Someone is excited for this party," Ava laughs lightly at his enthusiasm as she starts to thumb through the papers again. Based on this information, she has three small windows of opportunity to take this asshole out before he leaves the country for Spain.
