Cameron glanced at them with a nod. "Yep! Go ahead and set them down. Can you crack eggs?" He asked her, opening the carton and setting a couple eggs down, then grabbing a stick of butter.

@LolaBug

Ava nods and sets the bowls out on the counter. "I can try but the cake might end up a little crunchy," She says, walking up beside him and glancing down at the egg carton.

Cam clicked his tongue and picked up an egg. "Want me to teach you how to break it? It's quite simple, you just have to make sure you do it slow."

@LolaBug

"Yeah, can you teach me?" Ava asks, feeling a little sheepish that she can't crack an egg. It's not for lack of trying, she just always ends up cracking them too hard and getting yolk and shell everywhere.

Deleted user

"You have to be gentle," Cameron started, gently tapping the egg. "Then I like to turn it around, hold it over the bowl and crack it further with my fingers so no shells get into the bowl." After he explained, he demonstrated.

@LolaBug

Ava watches him carefully, making a few mental notes. Picking up an egg, she copies what he had done. She taps it a little too hard but the damage isn't too severe. She then holds it over the bowl and works on cracking it open even further.

Cameron watched with a small hum, leaning forward a little once she was done to make sure there was no shells in the egg.
"Good job. See, you can't be rough with them. They'll get everywhere and make everything sticky if you're not careful." He unwrapped the stick of butter and set it into a smaller bowl, then set it into the microwave for a bit to melt it.

@LolaBug

"Be careful not to get eggs everywhere, got it," Ava hums quietly, nodding her head. Cleaning up a bunch of broken eggs can't be fun so she'll try and avoid it. "Okay, what's next?" She asks, shrugging off her leather jacket and setting it on a nearby chair so she doesn't mess it up.

"We need to mix our dry ingredients together. And once the butter is finished– beep beep!– we can mix sugar into it." He smiled after the interruption of his loud microwave. "If you wanna grab the butter, go ahead and do that."

@LolaBug

"Yeah, I'll grab the butter," Ava returns the smiles before moving over to the microwave and taking the butter out. The bowl is a little warm but not nearly hot enough to require a hot pad. She sets the bowl on the counter. "How much sugar do we need?"

Deleted user

"Only about a cup or two. If you like your cake sweet, that is." He chuckled. "Just add one and I'll add in the egg as I set up the dry ingredients." He hummed softly as he grabbed a large bag of flour.

@LolaBug

"Sweeter is always better in my opinion," Ava laughs lightly before pulling the sugar container over towards her. Taking a measuring cup, she fills it to the one cup line. "I add this to the butter, right?"

Deleted user

"Right in, yep. Then you take a spatula and carefully mix it," Cameron instructed as he measured out massive cups of flour for the cake.

@LolaBug

Ava gives him a thumbs up before combining the butter and the sugar. Glancing around, she spots where the spatulas are and grabs one. She then beings to stir the ingredients together.

Cameron measured out the rest of the dry ingredients and set out a cake pan, humming softly as he picked up their bowl of egg and poured it into where she was mixing. Soon, the liquids were mixed together, and Cameron instructed her to pour her bowl into the large one has he got out vanilla extract.

@LolaBug

Ava mixes everything up as directed. She’s rather surprised that there’s no mess and nothing has exploded as of yet. This isn’t as bad as she had initially thought it would be. In fact, it’s actually kind of relaxing. She picks up her bowl and pours the contents into the larger bowl.

Cameron grabbed the mixer-thing from her gently, their hands brushing as he took it with a grin.
"Great. Nice job." He added a couple drops of vanilla with soft hums, the smell of it filling the kitchen delightfully.

@LolaBug

Ava let’s him take the mixer before returning the smile. “It smells so good,” She hums, loving the smell of the vanilla extract. It reminds her of the bakery on Riverside Avenue that she used to go to all of the time. She’d do almost anything to have one of their pastries again.

Cameron nodded happily and glanced up when the oven beeped, announcing its finish in preheating.
"Ah. You know I love to put a little bit of extract on a little pan in the oven to make my house smell really nice. If you told me you were coming over, I would have done it. Prolly."

@LolaBug

“That’s pretty smart,” Ava comments with a small smile. Well, she’s not entirely sure that he would have done it had she told him that she was coming over. They weren’t exactly on the best of terms until a few hours ago. It’s still funny to her that they were ready to kill each other a few weeks ago and now they’re making a cake and getting along perfectly. “How long will it take to bake?” She asks, snapping out of her thoughts.

Cameron grinned back, turning to the cake pan and pouring it out once it was mixed, humming softly. He glanced at her when she asked her question, shrugging.
"Maybe thirty minutes. Maybe an hour. My oven's weird. I can't really set a time on it," He said with a small laugh.

@LolaBug

Anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour? That just doesn't sound right to her. "I don't know very much about cooking but I'm pretty sure that your oven isn't supposed to work like that," Ava laughs, shaking her head. Gathering up a little bit of flour that has been left on the counter, she flicks it at him.

Deleted user

Cameron shrugged as he started to clean up. "It's my oven. It does what it wants." It was when he had a handful of flour from the counter when she flicked some at him. It was war. He flicked a bit of flour at her, smiling.

@LolaBug

A mischievous grin tugs at Ava's lips when the flour hits her check. She scoops up a handful of flour and tosses it at him, aiming for his hair. The second she throws the flour, she swiftly moves away, hoping to avoid getting anything else on her.

Deleted user

Cam yelped indignantly, tossing the rest of his handful. It plopped onto her back as the flour settled into his already messy dark hair. He shook his head and tried to dislodge it.
