Sol followed Joey over to the shelves he was organizing. “Akali will probably ask for history and Nikora likes nature guides,” he said, glancing over a few books.
Sol followed Joey over to the shelves he was organizing. “Akali will probably ask for history and Nikora likes nature guides,” he said, glancing over a few books.
Joey nodded a bit and lifted a heavier book onto a shelf above his head, breathing a bit more heavily than usual. "Sounds good to me… are they nice?" He asked.
Sol heard Joey’s heavier breathing, and he frowned slightly, wondering if the angel had ever eaten. Having an idea of how shelving worked, he grabbed a couple heavy looking books and put them up.
Joey kept working, not really seeming to pay Sol much mind. He looked up when the bell on the door rang again, swaying dangerously where he stood on the stool. "Hi! Welcome to-… welcome to…" His face paled and he fell off the stool, laying dazed on the floor.
“Joey!” Sol rushed over from another shelf. He knelt down and picked the slight male up, taking him over to a large reading chair.
“Estello, what’s wrong?”
"Mmmm… dizzy…" He mumbled weakly in reply, trying to get his eyes to focus. "M'head feels funny… I'm sure I'm fine." He ran his fingers through his hair, trembling lightly.
“Is he okay, boss?” a voice asked from behind.
Sol turned, blocking Joey with his body, relaxing when he saw Akali.
“He says he is,” Sol replied, frowning. “Could you watch the shop?”
When the dragon-shifter nodded, Sol gently picked Joey back up and took him to the back room he had noted when he had come before.
“Is it alright if I use magic to check you?” he asked softly, scanning Joey’s face.
"Mm… yeah, sure…" Joey closed his eyes, obviously a little out of it. "Does it hurt? What's it gonna do to me? What are you checking for?" He asked curiously after a few seconds of processing.
Sol chuckled softly at the angel’s curiosity.
“You might feel a slight tingle, but it won’t hurt. I’m essentially scanning your body with magic to check for injury, illness, or physiological strain.”
"Okay…" Joey shifted a bit to be more comfortably, hugging his stomach with his arms and hoping that the process wouldn't take too long. He hadn't eaten anything of substance for ages, and not having drank anything this morning seemed to have tipped him over the edge.
Sol raised his hands to the sides of Joey’s head, a soft white light radiating from them. Closing his eyes, he slowly moved his hands down Joey’s body without touching him.
What his magic found concerned him. Joey was neither sick nor injured, but his body was incredibly weak, lacking in the needed nutrients and energy.
“Oh, estello,” Sol murmured.
"Mmmmm… am I dying…?" He asked with a weak laugh, curling in on himself a bit more. He looked especially small with his wings hidden, and it exposed just how thin he was. "What's your magic telling you?"
Sole’s heart clenched and he gently cupped Joey’s face, hands no longer glowing.
“No, estello, no,” he said softly. “You’re just dehydrated weak from lack of nutrients. Sweetheart, I know you don’t want to, but I need you to have something.”
"Mmmmmm…" Joey whined and curled up more, shaking his head a bit. "Don't wannaaaaa…" His stomach growled angrily and he wrapped his arms more tightly around himself, huffing indignantly. "I'm fine."
Sighing, Sol pulled Joey into his arms and moved so that he was sitting in the chair holding Joey.
“Estello, you’re not fine,” he said gently. “Your body is too weak. You need to at least have a smoothie or something. I’ll get you anything you want.”
"But I don't want to…" Joey replied weakly, huddling up against Sol with a shaky sigh. "I don't wanna… I don't want it…" He hiccuped and bit his lip, starting to tremble a bit more. He was obviously upset.
Sol held Joey’s trembling frame close, rocking slightly. “I know, sweetheart, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he murmured. “But you cant go on like this. We’ll figure something out, okay? I’ll talk to Nikora, she might be able to make a potion to help temporarily.”
"O-Okay…" He whispered weakly in reply, fidgeting with his clothes as he tried to get himself to calm back down. "I… I-I normally drink enough, but I forgot this morning… I'm… I'm sorry…"
“Shh, estello, it’s okay,” Sol said, softly rubbing Joey’s back. “You have nothing to apologize for. Let’s get you some water, yeah?”
"Okay…" Joey held as tightly to Sol as he could, burying his face in the man's shoulder. He was still trembling with anxiety, and he had to fight the urge to try and run off.
“Is it okay if Nikora comes back here? I just heard her come into the shop,” Sol asked quietly. “She can get you some water and i can tell her what my magic found. Or we can stay back here for a while longer, whatever you want.”
"Y-Yeah, that's… that's fine…" Joey replied weakly, still pale and uneasy. "I don't really care…" He hid his face again, falling worryingly quiet.
“Akali, Nikora,” Sol called out softly, knowing they would hear him. The two females stepped into the room, looking at the angel in his arms.
“What’s up, boss?” Akali asked.
“Akali, could you close up the shop and watch this door?” The shifter nodded and left the back room. “Nik, I’m going to share my magic with you, could you get some water and make a potion for Joey?”
“Of course, Solaris,” she replied, holding out a hand to accept his magic, then quickly left.
Joey curled up a bit, nervous and upset. He felt hot, and his hands were cold and clammy. He was honestly terrified of what Sol or his friends might do to him to make him eat.
Sol scented Joey’s fear and his heart cracked.
“Joey, estello, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to,” he murmured, nuzzling Joey’s hair in an attempt to comfort him. “The potion, if you want it, will be a temporary aid to your nutrient levels. Again, if you don’t want it, you don’t have to take it, but please drink some water, sweetheart.”
