Met fixed himself up for his first actual Valentine's day (he didn't really do as much with Seo when they were together), with a dress shirt and a slick pair of dress pants. He was choosing between a bow tie and a tie when he heard a knock at the door, and decided that he'd be better off without one, and just leave the dress shirt unbuttoned. He answered the door and stepped back for her and the big box.
"Hey Grace! Big box you got there!"
"I know! It has your present in it!" She set it down on the table next to her things and picked up the card. "Aww this is sweet, though."
"Well, don't make me feel bad for getting you something smaller!" He protested as he shut the door.
Deciding to walk to the town park, having nothing better to do on Valentine's day. https://pin.it/y7goae2f7lsozp (idk like this outfit?)
She felt borderline scandalous with her clothes, but they were cute so she put up with it. It was also comfortable.
It was near the coffee shop, so it wasnt too far.
In college when she was in Korea she would be hanging out with her friends right now, shopping, having coffee and probably pulling pranks on people on the street.
Her guy friends usually would initiate it, bringing her along with it, she always enjoyed it.
Looking down at her shoes, then at her side, she stopping in front of the appartment that she fell in front of on christams eve, with a sigh and a little smile, she looks up to the sky feeling the slightly chilly breeze on her face, breathing it in, feeling it on her lips.
Then making her way to the park with no friends in the country, no family other than her mom,
which was always depressed on Valentine's day, and her brother….. in the mental ward.
She never got to visit him on that night out with her boyfriend.
Maybe she could go visit him today.
Turning around to face the street as people and cars hustled by, sitting on a bench as her long hair pushed against her back and the bench. She was just going to sit there for a few minutes until she decided what she wanted to do today.
"I'm doing no such thing, Met!" She beckoned him over and he unwrapped the gift as she took out the card.
"Good gods, Grace, there's so many cakes in here!" He was overwhelmed by the smell of sweet icing and fruits. "I'm going to have to share, this is too much!" He turned his smiling face up at her. She smiled back at him, but something was off. He didn't feel tingles when she smiled like he usually did. It was like he was missing something. She was the only person he had, but… it could be different. He couldn't afford to be picky but he also couldn't feel… feel regret. He wouldn't– couldn't tell her how he felt. He had been feeling this way for a while, he just didn't want to break up with her before or after Valentine's Day.
Grace laughed and looked down into her card. "Thank you so much for being with me through these tough few months. I treasure you like you do the things you found in pawn shops. That's really sweet, Met." She looked a little confused but happy nevertheless.
Standing up and deciding to just walk to the park, she got up, dusting off her skirt. Looking around back to the apartment, to the trees, a squirrel scurrying up it. Taking a deep breath she forces a smile on her face, making her way to the park.
I wonder how everyone's doing back in Korea…… Yeong probably flirting with all of the guys by now.
Golly, I miss Phoebe, oh Eun-Kyung had a cat that looked like her.
It was a pretty cat, the eyes were different though, and it was a jerk….and it was a boy.
Someone bumping into er while she had gotten lost in her thoughts, falling to the ground, simply sitting there like she does every time she falls down, laughing it off and getting back up, pulling her hair back out of her face and behind her ear, staying positive.
Arriving at the park she sat down on the wooden bench, names carved into it…….of course it was.
Sitting in front of the pond as ducks roamed the park, couples everywhere, a waterfall flowing down rocks.
"You eh… you look confused." Met ran his fingers through his hair nervously, his gaze flicking away.
"Um… yeah. I am." Her small smile disappeared. "You signed it off with a 'thanks' rather than a love or something. Is there something you want to tell me, Met? I promise I won't get angry since it's on Valentine's," She said with a soft laugh, but her eyes were serious as they fought to meet with his flicking ones.
"Well there was something I wanted to tell you but… I guess I can tell you now. I think we should just be friends. Good friends. I like supporting your business and giving you payments. I like going out for coffee and shopping for clothes from thrift stores together. I can't imagine us being something together, though," He blurted out, looking down at his feet. "I'm sorry. Could we go for a walk or something?"
"Sure we can, Met. Look, I understand." She pulled on her jacket again and looked up at him, putting a hand on his arm. "That's what dating's for. To look for people you may or may not like. To make friends. I was feeling the same way. We make a great pair of friends. And I appreciate your support too. Let's go through the park."
Looking down at the ground, she pulls her hair out of the way once again.
She admits, she did miss her friends in Korea, her boyfriend, that now had a girl whom he seemed happy with,
her cat, her brother, Ryuu, and her mothers never been the same anyway.
She was glad she had writing. Thats the thing thats kept her going all these years.
She even missed having school to do. But she wasnt about to wish for that back.
It was a little too stressful, but it gave her something to always do.
Study groups with her friends at the librarys and little cafes that they had everywhere.
A shadow stepping towards her, only thinking is was a couple passing by before she felt a tap on her shoulder.
The couple walking by happened to be a very distracted Met, who was looking everywhere but Grace as they walked. Grace sighed and paused near the waterfall, where she just stared.
“Met… there’s a reason you don’t like me, is there?”
“What?” He asked, turning away from a very familiar looking girl. “I’m sorry. I-I um… have bad hearing,” He fibbed, laughing meekly. “You know, from all the guns I use and stuff.”
“Oh, sure,” Grace just murmured as she watched the water. “Who were you just looking at?”
A tap on her shoulder and she raises her head, looking up to see…….
"Min?"
She says as she covers her mouth. It was her big brother, Min-Hyuk. Had he be released? She didnt know that was allowed.
"I do not recomend killing a dude, straight jackets f*cking suck"
He says with the little smirk he only gave his little sister.
Jumping up off of the bench and throwing her arms around his neck as she burried her face into his chest.
Tears gushing down her cheeks as she sobbed, his arms wrapping around her as he bent over slightly.
"Min….h-how are you here?"
She says after about a full minute, letting go of him, rubbing her eyes, gasping for air, finally getting a hold of herself
"oh? Can i not see my little sister after i just got released from an asylum? Or is that illegal?"
"Oh, no one. Just… Oh my god, is that Min?" He suddenly interrupted himself, walking over without a care. He wanted to see the man who had killed Seo's haunter and abuser.
"Min! Seo! Oh my god!" He moved closer, but stayed a bit away after noticing that Seo had been crying. She had been sitting alone and Min had probably been admitted for a really long time. What was he thinking, interrupting them? He was nothing but a long lost lover to Seo, after all.
"What the hell- wait"
He looks over to Met, a little mad that he had interupted his and his little sisters ruinion. It had been about 5 years since he saw her, and her boyfriend came up.
"isnt this your boyfriend?"
He says looking over from the girl that he had just left behind.
"CC?"
He says turning around, his grey eyes flickering to all of them, then back at CC.
"i swear, if this douche hurt her, im gonna be going to the ward again"
He mumbles rather loudly, but to himself.
"I-I'm sorry, Min, but it's really good to see you again–" He cut off and backed away, his cheeks paling. He had no doubt that Min would kill him. "She– she was just a friend." He glanced back at Grace, who met his eyes and smiled a little. She didn't seem as hurt as he thought she would. "Anyway– eh, I'm gonna go. And maybe just go to my apartment. I'm sorry for interrupting you," He finished after blabbing nervously basically all of his thoughts.
"Nope"
He says glaring at him.
"If youre my sisters boyfriend, im gonna get to know you"
He says with a slight smile, a hint of anger in his eyes still. Yeah, he was mad that he didnt get to be with his family for the last four years. His sister still had a boyfriend as he could see, and he has no idea how he had been treating her.
He was totally oblivious to all of this. He hated it so much.
And this dudes actng like they were college roomates or something. What the hell was wrong with this guy?
"You know, no. I'm busy, you know, I have stuff and things and things to things." He nodded frankly and motioned for Grace to leave, who took the initiative and ran as fast as she could away from the awkward situation. Met braced himself to do the same thing. He felt somewhat conflicted. He didn't want to hurt Min considering he thought of him like a friend, too, but Met would defend himself. Also meeting Seo again under these circumstances was very awkward, also considering he just broke off a relationship that looked very real.
(whats he saying no to? Him being in a relationship with CC? Or getting to know Min???)
(Getting to know Min xD
He's scared lmao. It might seem like he's scared of getting together with Seo again but that's not the case at all)
(XD okay)
"Fine, oh hey, hows the jack@ss doin?"
He says referring to their stepdad in prison apparently. He hoped he had died, which he wouldn't be surprised.
All of that alcohol couldn't have been good for his body.
Seo Hyeon was just standing there, a tad cold, but she would live. She stiffened at the sound of…him.
She hadn't even come clean about what he's done to her. Not that she ever will.
"Um… you killed him… I think," He said slowly, talking for Seo and inching closer to her, taking off his jacket and wrapping it around her. It smelled pleasantly like him and was very warm. It was just sort of an instinctual thing he did, he didn't even realize he did it until it was too late to take it off. He stuck his hands in his pockets and looked down at the ground, vowing not to talk anymore.
"oh, that's right! Ha! I forgot all about that."
He chuckled, then glared at Met as he put his jacket on her, CC slowly sitting back down on the bench as her brother and her ex talked with eachother……no biggie. Though Min didn't know that they weren't dating anymore.
"Well, I'm glad. Okay then, you can go back to your side chick."
Min waves his hand shooing him away, still a little pissed that he had left his girlfriend sitting alone on a bench on VALENTINES DAY of ALL DAYS while he took a little walk n talk with another girl right in front of her.
That's how he saw it.
"I didn't…" He sighed, visibly deflating as he walked away, forgetting his jacket. He could find another somewhere else. He didn't bring anything with him so it didn't really matter. Well, that's what he thought, anyway. He actually left his wallet and badge in the pockets so he didn't forget them. Unfortunately he gave them to someone else and completely forgot as he walked through the cold back to his apartment. Going out and talking to people was just a bad idea in general. He sighed as he trudged up his apartment complex's steps and entered his apartment.
Turning back to his little sister, sitting on the bench and talking to each other about everything, including the break up. They had just decided to part ways even though they didn't want to, and about how she got proposed to in Korea, and how she now works at a cute coffee shop, and her best friend Ryuu which actually was Mins best friend too, who had visited Min as often as he could while he was in the ward, had gone off to Japan to visit his aunt for a few months. After a while, Min decided to stay with her in her apartment. Her mom living in a retirement home selling their house.
"wow, pretty homey"
He says looking around her little apartment.
"the couch is a good size to sleep on…..thanks again sis"
He says running his fingers through his now shoulder-length wavy, pitch-black hair.
"no problem. Although, we need to cut your hair"
She laughed.
Met shut and locked his door, sliding closed his curtains and laying down in his bedroom with a shaky sigh. By in the bedroom I mean the floor. He didn't deserve comfort after the total ruining he did of the day. He curled up in a small ball and pushed his nose against the carpet, sniffling softly. He was back to where he started with one awkward relationship and one he'd probably never be able to piece together after this. He tried to stop tears but there were already some dropping off of his eyelashes and into the carpet. Not quite what the carpet was for, but it'd hide it easier than a pillow.
(Awe, he needs one of CCs hugs and a forehead kiss)
(time skip?)
(i know he's so smol. Yes please skip)
(Idk whenever she figures out he has actual things in his coat? xD)
