Skye on the other hand just focused on not reading her loud thoughts, and moving forward.
Connie was set on guarding her thoughts, trying to clear her mind. She didn't like the thought of him being able to read her mind, it was unsettling in every way. Creepy for sure. So she was going to figure out how to block out, or sense when he could or was reading her mind.
Skye didn't pay any attention to her for the moment, just focusing on moving and not allowing the thoughts of everyone around them to dron out his one consciousness.
"How far are we?" She asked him, trying to keep her voice low. She didn't know what else to do besides that. Keep quiet.
"A little further" muttered Skye, turning down another street and looping around to an abandoned building.
Connie nodded in affirmation, dropping her voice. She felt awkward, being tugged along behind him. So she did the most random thing she could have, and took his hand into hers'.
Skye's step faltered a littla at that, as his eyes flicked back to look at her, a bit confused. But as they came to a door in the building, he let it go and led her inside, turing around and shutting then enchanting the door behind them.
“Can I finally breath?” She asked softly, biting her lower lip. She now felt awkward That she had taken his hand, feeling like an idiot. ’Why?’
"Yeah.. uhm.. do you still have that band?" he asked, pulling his hand away from hers awkwardly.
She bit her lip nodding. "Right here. Here." Connie said handing it to him.
Skye nodded, slipping on his cuffed wrist, letting out a sigh of relief when the clasp snapped shut.
"So this is where we're staying? At least for now?" She asked, looking around.
Skye nodded, "For as long as possible, yes." he said, gesturing around the large space, most of which was taken up by crates and old machinery, but a small area in the back, occupied by a ragged mattress, some old blankets and an open bag with a couple pairs of extra clothing.
With a shrug, she lightly pulled him along. "Works for me." She mumbled, looking around. "Though shouldn't we get further away?"
"That's what they'll expect us to do," he said softly, "We'll wait till the initial heat dies then relocate to a new spot, possibly even leave the city."
Connie slightly nodded, and stopped her walking. "I guess that makes sense. Though it'll get harder to leave the longer we're gone."
Skye nodded, "But right now there's going to be a whole bunch of public alarm once they get word out about us, so people will actively look for us." he hummed, "Therefore it's better to wait until at least the initial wave of panic or shock to die down."
“I’m not normally the rational one, I’ve been caught once or twice. But I’ve managed to escape without a public eye on me. So honestly, you’re smarter in this sense.” She rambled, not sure what she was getting at. “Basically what I’m trying to say is you’re right.”
Skye nodded, "I've had to run a few time, mostly because of my abilities rather than being caught stealing."
Connie glanced to him, biting her lips. "I don't understand that." She mumbled, letting her lip slip through her teeth. "Because we're different, they think we're dangerous."
"Well in my case it's a little more understandable, since I can barely control my abilities at the best of times."
"I guess that makes sense. Though for the weak powered ones, it seems unfair." She muttered, rubbing her face with her free hand. "Myself included."
(My mom found me on notebook, again, but I think I'm okay as long as I limit my hours to during school and at my dads since it's linked to a secret google account.)
(Oh, OK. If you need to just drop this I understand. To make things easier on you.)
(I probably won't, but my replies will definitely be slower and more sporadic…)
