Joy giggled, reaching over to peck his cheek before grabbing a sandwich.
“I’m glad I dropped that pie on you that day in school,” she said, laughing. “It lead to our first kiss, right?”
Joy giggled, reaching over to peck his cheek before grabbing a sandwich.
“I’m glad I dropped that pie on you that day in school,” she said, laughing. “It lead to our first kiss, right?”
“Everything led to our first kiss,” Bryce chuckled. “But that certainly did help things along. Though I don’t understand how, exactly…”
“I offered to help you clean up because I felt terrible,” Joy shook her head. “But there was a bit of pie splattered in the floor and I slipped, ending up right in top of you. So really, we have to thank that pie, because if it wasn’t for that, we would’ve taken a lot longer to confess.”
Bryce grinned at the memory as it came back to him. “You were so flustered and embarrassed… You got like that around me whenever we were together. How in the world did I not notice that sooner?”
“Probably because you were also in love with me,” Joy teased. “You’ve never told me when and how you fell in love with me, though. You already know my story. It was love at first sight with a shower of juice.”
“I think it was the second time we went on the Ferris wheel together… I think it was our eight month anniversary. Gosh, you looked so beautiful with your pink cheeks and bright smile… I’m pretty sure that was the day I realized I was actually in love with you…” Bryce mused quietly.
Joy snorted.
“I had ice cream in my hair on that day, Bryce. I don’t know how you found me beautiful like that.”
Bryce turned his eyes to look at her fondly. “I don’t even notice that, Joy. I was too busy staring at the amazing creation at my side. What did you even do with that shirt, anyway? It was one of my favorites on you.”
Joy returned his smile before it turned sheepish.
“It sort of tore up,” she sighed sadly. “It was beyond repair. I wanted to at least fix it a little so I could wear it at home, but mom threw it away. Gave me no chance to say goodbye or say a prayer.”
Bryce frowned and leaned forward to press a gentle kiss to her lips. “That’s okay. You look amazing in everything you wear, anyway.”
Joy closed her eyes in bliss.
“If you say so, my wolf,” she pressed a sandwich against Bryce’s lips. “C’mon, eat.”
Bryce snorted softly and took the sandwich from her hand. “If you try to feed me again, it’ll probably all end up smashed in your face,” he teased, reminding her of what had happened once.
Joy pouted.
“That was unfair,” she complained. “I was just trying to be sexy while feeding you and you did that.”
“You’re adorable. You know that, right?” I chuckled before taking a bite of my food.
“No,” Joy pouted. “You’re a jerk.”
Bryce frowned slightly before swallowing his food. He sighed and turned to Joy again. “Would it help if I let you feed me…?”
“No,” she shook her head, picking up another sandwich and taking a bite out of it. “I’m only joking.”
Bryce huffed playfully and took her sandwich from her, his still held out to her. “Well, you’ve convinced me anyway. Feed me so I can feed you back.”
Joy looked at him and then back at the sandwich before she took it, pressing it against Bryce’s mouth.
“There you go,” she whispered, suddenly a bit nervous.
Bryce grinned and took a bite before he lifted the other sandwich to her lips. He nodded as if to tell her to take a bite while he finished chewing his own.
Joy took a small bite, chewing softly before she swallowed.
“Thank you,” she said, taking back her sandwich.
“What, you would rather feed yourself?” Bryce chuckled teasingly.
Joy felt a little flustered but set her sandwich aside.
“If you insist, Bryce.”
Bryce shook his head and leaned forward to peck her lips lightly. “I was just teasing, beautiful. If you want to finish feeding yourself, then that’s okay.”
[TIME SKIP]
Joy felt terrible during the ninth month of her pregnancy, especially when the day of labor approached. She constantly felt lower back pains, contractions, and most of this prevented her from sleeping. To top it off, her stomach was large, breathing was hard, and she felt increased restlessness and fatigue. After getting checked by the doctor, Joy realized the date was getting closer.
And then came the fateful day where her water broke.
