William felt a shiver run through him before he turned toward her, pressing his lips against hers briefly. “Good, because it’s going to be one hell of a night.”
William felt a shiver run through him before he turned toward her, pressing his lips against hers briefly. “Good, because it’s going to be one hell of a night.”
Amber smiled against his lips, kissing him back quickly before pulling away. “I’m counting on it,” she declared with a wink. “How long until Jude is here?”
“Probably five minutes,” William responded with a shrug. “Have patience, my love.”
“What do you think he’ll say when he sees the ring? Do you think he’ll even notice it?” Amber wondered, glancing toward the parking lot.
“Oh, he will,” William chuckled. “That kid has sharp eyes, and he’s observant. It doesn’t take him long to notice something. He was the only one, aside from Parker, who noticed the change in our relationship.”
Amber furrowed her brows, giving him a confused look. “Change in our relationship? When? What change?”
“The day I asked you to be my girlfriend,” William elaborated. “When I kissed you after my game. I met up them later on and they were the only ones who weren’t surprised.”
“Ah, okay. That makes sense,” Amber chuckled, shaking her head. “That was a really great day.”
“Wasn’t it?” William grinned. “I haven’t gotten any less addicted to you.”
Amber hummed and turned back to face him, grinning back at him. “I’ve noticed. If anything, I think we’ve only gotten more addicted to each other.”
“We sure have,” William murmured, tilting his head and bending down a little to kiss her again. Just as he deepened the kiss, his phone rang.
William rolled his eyes and answered the call, giving Jude instructions on where they were.
“He’s on his way,” William said to his fiancée. “Then we can go home and enjoy our night as an engaged couple.”
"Wonderful. After we get supper, though. I didn't eat anything when I got home, so the only thing I've eaten since noon is a few pieces of chocolate," Amber chuckled.
“I should have picked something better, then,” William frowned. “Definitely supper, then.”
Just then, they heard someone call their name and a familiar male entered their vision.
“Hey, Amber!” Jude exclaimed. His dog began to wriggle in William’s arms, hopping off to get to him. Jude picked her up, giving her a kiss on her head. “How are you two girls?”
Amber glanced up and smiled at Jude. “Hey, Jude! I’m really, really good. How are you?”
“I’m great, too,” he grinned. “So, you know you could have just given Ruby to me, right?”
William smirked. “Yeah, but then who was gonna clean this up?”
“Oh, come on,” Jude pouted. “You can’t do that to me! How am I going to clean up this mess and look over this girl at the same time?”
“Call someone to help you,” Amber laughed, linking arms with William. “We’re going out for dinner, and it’s already getting late.”
“You guys are horrible,” Jude sighed. His dog licked him on the face. He scrunched his nose and wiped the saliva off of himself. “What was the—oh. Oh! Did William propose?”
Amber laughed and held up her left hand, wiggling her fingers. “Yes, yes he did. You didn’t know that’s why he wanted to borrow your dog?”
Jude looked transfixed. “He told me he wanted to surprise you with something, but I hadn’t thought he’d propose,” he responded, looking at the ring with excitement. “I thought he would wait a little longer!”
“So did I! But here we are, engaged,” Amber said with a grin, looking up at her fiancé lovingly.
"Congratulations~" Jude smiled, excitement clear on his face. "I really, really hope you guys have a wonderful life together."
William ruffled his hair. "Thanks, kid."
He slapped his hand away, grumbling. "I'll handle this. You guys go home. Have dinner. Enjoy."
“Thanks, Jude. That’ll help a lot,” Amber said with a grin before tugging on William’s arm. “We’ll see you later.”
(They're such mean friends! :P)
"I came on my car," William suddenly remembered with a sigh as they walked away from Jude. "So that means we'll be reunited when we get home."
(Amber: Can we help it if we’re excited?)
Amber crinkled her nose. “Actually, it’ll be the restaurant. Dinner, remember? Starving fiancée over here.”
“But I don’t want to drive home without you,” William kissed her cheek. “All right. We’ll meet at the restaurant.”
