“Good,” Amber chuckled, reluctantly pulling away from him to stand. She held her hands out for him so that he would as well, smiling down at him. “I love it, and I love you. But I definitely love you more… Let’s go home, eat supper, and then celebrate. Or we could go out before going home. I don’t really care as long as we eat and end up at home somehow.”
William took her hand, smiling back at her as he pulled himself to his feet. He wrapped his arm around her once he did, tugging her to his side.
“Well, firstly, I need to collect all of these,” he pointed at the lanterns. “And then we can eat and spend time together.”
Amber hummed and leaned into him. “Okay… Or do you think you could get one is the guys to do it? Maybe?” she suggested with a grin up at him.
William chuckled. “I like the way you think, love. I’ll ask Jude, then. He had been annoying me.”
Amber chuckled. “Wonderful. Let’s go eat, then. I’m thinking… Burgers? Milkshakes? Fries?”
“How about all three?” William kissed the top of her head. “And where’d the little animal go? I need to keep an eye on her until Jude gets here.”
“Oh… I actually don’t know. She lead me to the path, and then I thought you had someone who would catch her,” Amber admitted quietly.
William froze before he cursed under his breath.
“That totally slipped my mind,” he muttered. “Damn it. Jude’s going to flip. He calls her his baby. I need to find her.”
“Wait, what if…” Amber trailed off and stuck her fingers in her mouth. She let out a shrill whistle, then waited.
William quirked an eyebrow at her, not at all expecting her to whistle. His fiancée certainly was something, wasn’t she?
They heard a small bark and William chuckled.
“Ruby, I’ve got some food,” he called before turning to Amber. “She’s a foodie. Loves eating.”
Amber chuckled and kissed his cheek. “What girl isn’t, really? We all love food, even the girls who say they don’t.”
William nuzzled her cheek right before Ruby began to run up to them, barking loudly. William bent down to pet her before he picked her up in his arms.
“Can you take out my phone and text Jude?” He questioned, looking at Amber.
“Where is it? Back pocket?” Amber asked, petting the dog’s head.
“Yup, the back pocket,” William nodded.
Amber hummed and reached around him for it. She stuck her hand in his pocket, grabbed the phone, then pinched his butt. With a snicker, she stepped away and unlocked his phone.
William glowered at her. “Oh, you’re going to pay for that, Blue,” he grinned wickedly. “Guess who I’m torturing tonight? That’s right. My wonderful fiancée.”
“Shh… I’m concentrating,” Amber murmured, though a smirk tugged in her lips.
“Look forward to it, Blue,” he winked. “You’ll get what you deserve soon enough.”
Amber giggled softly and sent the text. “Okay, I sent it,” she said, though she held onto the phone.
She pulled up his camera and took a few selfies before putting the phone back into his pocket. This time, she playfully smacked him before starting for her car.
“Oh, no you didn’t!” William looked at Ruby in his arms before sighing. “Your friend’s fiancée is in deep trouble. I’m punishing her tonight. It’ll be fun.”
Amber hummed and reached over to rub the dog’s head. “I’m sure she’s just excited that she’s engaged.”
“She should be just as excited to know that the man she’s engaged to will get his revenge,” William shot back. Ruby barked again, licking at Amber’s hand. “I felt a buzz. I wonder if that was Jude…”
“Do you really want my hand near your butt again?” Amber chuckled, kissing the dog on the nose.
William scrunched his nose, holding Ruby on one arm while the other reached behind to take out his phone.
“Ah, he’s coming,” he hummed when he read the message. “Poor guy doesn’t even know what we’re calling him for.”
Amber laughed softly and kissed William’s cheek. “I can’t wait for tonight, love,” she murmured in his ear.
