“Good?” Amber asked, ignoring the way he was looking at her and how it made her insides heat up. Gosh, the things he did to her with just a look… And that wasn’t even one of his looks. That was just him playing with her for what she was doing to him.
William smiled, chewing softly, licking the sauce that had stuck to the corner of his mouth. That reaction she was giving… he loved it. He would always love them.
“Delicious,” he answered with a purr. “I think everything becomes delicious automatically if you feed me.”
Amber rolled her eyes and crossed her legs under the table. “I’m sure it does. It’s because I’m just such a sweet person, isn’t it?” she asked, sarcasm dripping from her words before she took a bite of the pasta for herself.
“No, it’s because I love you,” William winked. “You’re a devil, love. You’re not sweet. That’s a funny thought to have.”
Amber chuckled and swallowed before letting a grin swipe across her lips. “You bet. But I do have my sweet moment, which you should know by now. Now hurry up and eat so we can finish everything and then go home,” she teased, voice at almost a purr.
“So I can slowly torture you?” William tilted his head to the side, the smirk on his face widening. “Sounds like a plan, sweetheart.”
Amber narrowed her eyes before raising her eyebrows at him. “We’ll see… Especially if you tease me too much,” she hummed.
William didn’t reply. He merely took a bite out of another garlic bread before moving on to the spaghetti. It was nice being here with Amber like that. His girlfriend. His woman.
Amber wrapped her legs around one of William’s, simply wanting to do so. She took another bite of pasta as she looked across the table at him, smiling softly. She still could hardly believe she was really here with him…
William returned her smile with a soft look of his own, letting her wrap her leg around his. He wanted that woman. He was glad he found her again. He wouldn’t let go of her again.
“You have sauce on the corner of your mouth,” William chuckled. “Do you want me to lick it off, or are you content with using a tissue?”
“Maybe I’ll leave it there for you to lick off later,” Amber joked, already reaching for a napkin. She wiped off the sauce and set it down. “Better?”
“I wanted to lick it off,” William pouted before he began to chuckle. “Yeah, better.”
“I’m sure you’ll find something to lick off later,” Amber chuckled, shaking her head. “Keep eating, love.”
William froze at her statement, his eyes narrowing. This woman… she was so much trouble.
“I would if you didn’t say those things,” William muttered under his breath. “You certainly know how to be trouble, don’t you?”
Amber smirked. She knew that would rile him up. Simply payback for what he liked to do to her.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, hun. I was simply voicing a thought,” she hummed, taking a bite of breadstick.
“But you’re not wrong about that,” William ate a bit of the chicken Alfredo. “There is something I want to lick off. Well, many things, actually.”
Amber hummed, once more pretending the words didn’t effect her as much as they did. She simply smiled at him, finished her mouthful, and ate some more pasta.
“Switch plates?” she suggested after swallowing.
Though she had tried to hide it, William knew his words had affected her. They always did.
He nodded, sliding the spaghetti to her, “There you go, love.”
“Thank you,” Amber murmured as she pushed her plate towards him. She grinned at him before taking a bite of the food.
When they were done eating, William paid the bill and held out his hand for Amber to take.
“Let’s walk,” he said with a grin.
Amber smiled and stood, taking his hand. She leaned into his side as they stepped out of the building. “Walking sounds nice.”
[TIME SKIP: NEXT WEEK]
William had gotten off of work quickly. There wasn’t anything to do, and he had a surprise for Amber, so that made it all the better.
They’d shared apartment keys with each other, so William had slipped a note inside her apartment in a place where it was easy to find but hard at the same time; on the other side of the TV.
The first notecard was on the front door. It said, ”Scavenger hunting is fun. Should we try that, love? The first note is easy to find. Check the appliance used to chill.”
And of course, William was going to be elsewhere. He couldn’t have his girlfriend catch him before the big surprise, right?
Amber got home and blinked at the note taped to her front door. Who had left her a note? And why?
She shook her head, pulled it from the door, and stepped inside. As soon as she’d pulled her high heels off, she sat down at her table and opened it. Upon reading the riddle, she frowned in thought.
“What are you planning, William?” she mumbled under her breath as she stood. Device used to chill… That had to be the refrigerator, right? With a shrug, she made her way over and opened it.
William had known all along that his words would cause her to be confused. After all, which other appliance was used to chill? Still, he hoped she could figure it out. After all, the second clue was right in plain sight.
After searching for a moment, Amber sighed and stepped away from the fridge. She checked the freezer and didn’t find anything in there, either. With a glance around the room, she decided that it probably wasn’t there. But where else could it be?
She stepped out of the kitchen and into the living room. Her gaze roamed, taking in everything slowly. Something caught her eye near the TV, and she walked over to it. Pulling out another card, she chuckled and opened it to read it.
