The second clue read, ”You found it. Fantastic. The third clue should be found in the place we became a ship. Hint: little girl.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber frowned at this clue as well. What was that supposed to mean? Where they became a ship… Little girl?

The girl who had declared that she shipped them. Of course. That was… Where was that again?

The ice cream parlor. It’s the ice cream parlor.

Amber shook her head with a sigh. She smiled and pulled her heels back on, grabbed her purse again, and headed out the door.

The third clue, William gave to the employees. It wasn’t like there was any better place to hide it, right? So he talked to the employees and asked them to give it to a woman who came searching for it.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber stepped into the ice cream parlor and looked around. She must have looked confused enough because someone, an employee, came up and asked if she needed anything.

“Oh, my boyfriend sent me on a scavenger hunt… I think there’s supposed to be a clue here?”

The employee smiled brightly, a sparkle in her eyes.

“Ah, yes!” She walked around the counter and grabbed a note, returning to Amber and setting it in her hand. “Here you go~”

The clue read, ”Are you getting tired? Hope not. The fourth clue should be where we celebrated an important day. You’ll find it. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, Blue.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber thanked the woman with a smile as she took the card. She read this one as she was stepping out of the shop, leaning against the wall.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way’?” she murmured. Her eyes caught the bracelet on her wrist, the one she got years ago for her birthday, and she’s blinked. That was exactly what the bracelet said. Was he saying… she needed to go up there? He must have been. So that’s where she would go next, then.

The fourth clue was on the rooftop. Since William didn’t want it blowing away from the wind, he had kept one of the corners under two packs of chocolate. Besides, she deserved it for finding three of the other clues. The chocolates he selected were actually his favorite, Twirl.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber stepped inside the restaurant and asked if it was all right if she went up to the roof. A grinning employee assured her that it was okay, and that someone had left something up there. Amber thanked him with a smile of her own and started to make her way up.

When she reached the rooftop, she glanced around. At first, she didn’t see anything, just the usual decorations and lights. But then her eyes landed on something on top of a table, and she made her way over. Picking up the box of chocolates with a smile, she read the next note.

The fourth note read, ”Enjoy the chocolates. They’re my favorite. Good job in finding all the other clues. I promise it’ll be over soon. I don’t want to tire you out. After all, we’ve got a whole evening for that.

”The fifth clue should be where I found out Blue wasn’t really Blue, but she looked good in anything, so that worked out.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber chuckled at the note. Even in writing, he was teasing her, giving innuendoes. And she loved him for it.

Opening the box, she tossed a chocolate into her mouth and looked over the note again. …Blue wasn’t really Blue… Did that mean when he saw her as blonde for the first time? When they had met again after so many years?

She hoped it was, because she was already on her way there. The chocolates sat on the passenger seat beside her as she drove over. And then she stepped inside and glanced around, wondering what he’d done with it this time.

William had left the fifth note on the same table they’d shared that day. He had, of course, talked to the employees about it, so there wasn’t any chances of it being occupied. He just hoped Amber could find it without any help.

The fifth clue read, ”Did you enjoy the chocolates? I certainly hope you did. They’re my favorite treats—after you, of course, but that’s another story.

The sixth clue is in a park we’ve made memories in. Small hands would deliver it to you.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber spotted and empty table with another note on it, and she sat down to read it. She shook her head with a smile at his words. He was trying to rile her up, and he wasn’t even there! Typical William…

But the park… There was a park that they often went on walks in. He must mean there. So that was where she went next.

William watched with sharp eyes, his gaze softening when he finally saw Amber. Thank God for that, because it was already getting dark and he was tired of waiting.

As written in the previous clue, William had a dog take the sixth clue over to her. It belonged to Jude, and it listened to William extremely well. That note was short and simple. He disappeared out of sight after he did that, making sure Amber didn’t catch him, but staying long enough to see whether the dog gave Amber the note or not.

”Well, it seems we need to cut this game a little short. Follow the little furry animal until you see the lights. They’ll guide you to the surprise.”

William had set up lanterns on the park pathway that lead to a rather old tree. He was making it far too cheesy, but it was worth it.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber stepped out of her car, and a dog immediately ran up to her. She greeted it happily, laughing a little when she saw the note he had. After reading to quickly, she glanced down at the dog and shrugged. Looks like she would be following him.

Once they reached the lights William’s note had promised, she let the dog wander off to wherever it was going. She glanced around in awe at everything around her. William has set this all up for her… What was he planning? Some sort of elaborate date?

Now William was nervous. This was the part where he hoped he wouldn’t mess up. This was the most important part.

When he finally saw her reach the end of the lights, he stepped out from the shadows, a wolfish grin on his features. No time to make mistakes.

“Hey, there, Blue,” he grinned at her, a box in his hands. It was a medium-sized one, and it had a part in what he wanted to give to her, but it still wasn’t the main thing. “Enjoyed the little clue-catching?”

Deleted user

“You don’t get to, actually, not yet,” William answered with a wink. He stepped closer to her and held out the box. It was more of a jewelry box with a mirror inside of it. Other than that, it was actually pretty empty. “Don’t open it until I tell you to, all right? Also, you look extremely attractive in that outfit. I’ll enjoy peeling that off of you when we’re in a much private place.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber rolled her eyes and took the box from him carefully. “I didn’t dress up just for you today, you know. I had an important meeting at work today, and I think it went rather well. But I’m definitely glad you like it.”

Deleted user

“Well, I hope it did go well,” he winked again before running a hand through his hair. “Anyway, I’m sure you’re confused about why I did all of this. Well, firstly, there’s this ridiculous woman that I know. She’s annoying, gets upset sometimes and doesn’t talk to me for quite a while, but I’m still completely and utterly bewitched by her. And I love her, a lot. More than anything in the world, and I want her to be happy. With me, of course. And that’s why I did it. You can open the box now. You’ll see who this woman is once you do.”

While Amber would be busy glancing in the box to find a mirror—and her reflection in it, William was careful. When she looked inside it, he bent down on one knee and held out a velvet, smaller box in his hand with a ring on it, waiting for her to finally look at him.

Amber opened the box, knowing full and well what she would see when she did so. She smiled softly at her reflection and looked at the inside of the box. It was pretty nice, but she had a suspicion that—

Her thoughts were cut off when she saw moment in front of her. Closing the box, she glanced down at William, down on one knee, a velvet box in his hands. Inside the box was the most beautiful ring she had ever seen.

She blinked and looked up into his eyes, her lips parted slightly in surprise. “Will…?” she breathed, feeling tears pricking her eyes and her heart starting to race.

“Amber Lily Page, when I first met you, I thought you were the most annoying woman I’d ever met. Hell, I even kicked you out of the dorm. But I had serious anger issues at that time, and I disliked being social. But then you grew on me, I suppose. Especially your goddamn fiery attitude, and they way you were never afraid of me,” he paused, looking into her eyes. “The worst thing I ever did to you was hurt you that day when I barged in on you while you were showering, and then nearly hurting you after that. And honestly, that was the first time I regretted letting my anger get the best of me.

“But then you understood me and told me I deserved a second chance and I began to like you. Even when I was pining after Caroline, I think I was attracted to you then, too. And then you kissed me that night and I started going crazy, and soon after, I realized I had been wasting my time chasing after the wrong girl, so I turned my direction.

“And I’m glad I did because chasing after you was the best decision I made. Kissing you, holding you, hearing you laugh and being the reason for your smiles—it’s all worth it. And waking up next to you… honestly, I can’t ever get used to it.

“Amber, you bring out the best of me. You make me want to get better, more than anyone else. And I love it. I love you and I love being your boyfriend. But I’ve recently realized that I want more than that. I want to be more than your boyfriend,” he paused, realizing he’d been talking for a long time. “I’m also getting tired of your last name. Your name would sound much better with my last name. So, Amber, will you marry me?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber covered her mouth with a hand and sank to her knees in front of him. The pressure behind her eyes increased as tears made their way down her cheeks. She nodded at his speech, then shook her head with a choked-sounding chuckle.

“Of course. Of course I’ll marry you, Will,” she whispered, grinning. She took his cheek in her hand and pressed their lips together tightly. “Thank you. Yes. Yes. Thank you.”

William pulled her in his arms, holding her tightly to himself. He breathed her in, chuckling, a relieved sigh escaping his mouth. He stroked her hair, kissing the side of her head, rubbing circles on her back.

“I love you, Amber,” he breathed. “And I will continue to do so even after life leaves my lungs. Even in death, I will continue to love you. I want to spend my entire life dedicating myself to you, and I’m glad you’ve given me the chance to do so. I love you, Amber. Thank you for being with me.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber pressed their mouths together over and over again, overwhelmed with joy. She wouldn’t have thought that she would be this emotional about the proposal, but it did make sense. After all, they were separated for four years. That was a long, hard time for both of them. And now they were back together, and they would always be there for each other.

“I love you, too. So, so much. I can’t believe that I’m going to get to spend the rest of my life with you,” she murmured after pressing yet another kiss to his lips. “And the ring is gorgeous, Will. So gorgeous. I love it.”

William kissed her back, thrilled with the reaction she’d given him. He pecked her lips again, the box tight in his hand.

He took her hand and took out the ring, slowly slipping it onto her ring finger. He kissed the back of her hand once he was done, his face glowing.

“I’m glad you like it,” he murmured. “To be honest, I didn’t know which one you’d like. But I’m relieved you liked it and my surprise. You’re stuck with me forever now, Blue.”
