Simon got settled again on the bed, gently pulling Mia into his lap. He began to hum softly, hoping it would help soothe her when she woke up. He wouldn’t let himself trust Astral completely until the god actually made progress, but he was hopeful for the future.
Mia was out for some time. Eventually, her eyes started to flicker in her sleep, close to consciousness.
"Hnn…" Mia shifted some, instinctually pressing closer to Simon's warmth.
“Well hey there…” he whispered. “Did you sleep well?” He asked, his brow creasing a bit with worry, not knowing what type of state she would be in.
Mia let her eyes open, looking up,
"Hey, Simon… I slept really good…" Mia offered a small smile. She didn't look unstable, and she didn't sound it either.
He offered her a small smile in return. “Good, that’s good. Um, how are you feeling? All good?” He asked.
Mia nodded.
"I, yeah, I feel good. What- what happened?" Mia sat up, pulling her some out of Simon's lap to sit next to him.
“Um, well…well what do you remember last?” He didn’t want to lie to her but he also didn’t want to accidentally do something to send her spiraling again.
"I… something had happened, and I was upset… I remember breaking a plate. Other than that… nothing." Mia looked up, eyebrows drawing together.
"Did something else happen?"
“I…” Simon sighed. He didn’t really want to tell her but he knew how upset he would be if this sort of thing happened to him and Mia lied about it. “Y-yeah..something else happened.” He looked over at her. “Are you sure you want to know?”
Mia's concern grew some at those words.
"I do," she said softly. She shifted around, offering her arms to Simon when she heard the stutter.
Simon accepted, hugging her gently. “I um…you were going to, or at least you were gonna try, to um..kill yourself….” he mumbled the last two words but it was still audible. “I stopped you, Astral did too.”
Mia was quiet, holding Simon close.
"I…" The woman ran her fingers through Simon's hair lightly. She was disturbed, by this news, but… it didn't seem to trigger anything in her.
"I'm so sorry I scared you like that," the woman said after a moment.
“I’m just glad you’re okay…” he said, glad that the news hadn’t seemed to trigger her. “Are you..okay?”
"I am, for now," Mia promised. "Whatever… whatever he did to help, it worked well."
“I hope he didn’t mess with you too much…I told him not to.” He said, his brow furrowing.
"I… I don't think he did," Mia said softly. She rested her head on Simon's, holding him close.
“Good….he said he was gonna try to be better. I don’t know if I believe him but…” he shrugged, hugging her tightly.
"I don't either," Mia said, voice soft. "We… have to be careful."
“I know. We will be. I won’t let him hurt us.” He said, seeming actually pretty sure of himself.
"Okay, then." Mia wasn't nearly as sure, but she wasn't about to bring Simon done with that.
I mean, if he really thought it necessary, Simon could always threaten the health of the child. “Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked softly, pulling away to look at her.
"I'm sure." Mia offered a small smile, cupping one of Simon's cheeks. "Are you doing okay? I- Astral didn't hurt you, right? He didn't try anything."
“I’m just fine, I promise. And no, no he didn’t. I told you didn’t I? He said he’d try to do better. But make sure I don’t trust him until he actually proves it, please?”
"Okay, then. I'll be able to do that, for sure. I don't trust him, not one bit." Mia moved to lightly hug Simon, letting out a breath. She just hoped the god wasn't trying to trick them.
He sighed a bit in relief. “Okay, thank you.” Simon had a bad habit of forgiving people and believing in them even when they’d done nothing to deserve it.
