Ciel glanced at her phone, reading Melissa's message. Her lips curved up in a small smile before she stuck her phone in her pocket. She hoped she would still have fun at GSA without Melissa.
(We can time skip! You can start.)
Melissa came to school the next day. She walked into first period. She sat in her usual seat waiting for Ciel She shifted slightly in her seat nervous to see her after yesterday.
Ciel walked into the classroom, a bit scared that she wasn't going to see Melissa there. But there she was, sitting in her usual spot. Ciel walked over to her, a small, slightly nervous smile on her face. "Good morning!"
"Morning," She said smiling at her. she leaned on the desk slightly.
Ciel sat down and tucked some hair behind her ear. She'd forgotten a hair tie, as silly as that was, and was not looking forward to her hair being in her face the entire day. "How are you today?" Ciel asked, looking over at Melissa.
Melissa nodded. "I'm good. You?" She asked slightly awkwardly.
"Yeah. Good, I guess." Ciel nodded, eyes flicking to the table for a second before glancing back at Melissa. "I, um… let's hope the homework isn't too bad, like yesterday?"
"Yeah that would be great," she said looking down at her desk.
"Yeah." Ciel pursed her lips, hating how weird it was between them. She really just wanted to get back to where they were before the whole locker room fiasco, but she had no idea how to get there.
“So how was GSA?” She asked trying to be more normal.
"Oh, it was good. I was kinda awkward, but everyone was really nice. I had fun," Ciel said, a bright smile on her face. She was going to pretend that the whole thing hadn't happened. Just like old times, with the slight flirtations and the loving Melissa's company and all that.
Melissa smiled. “That’s great! Wish I could of made it,” she said. She wanted things to be normal between us but also new that she should really distance herself slightly. at least now she’ll have other friends to fall back on. Maybe she’ll just forget about me and everything will be fine
"Yeah, me too. I missed you, but… well, it couldn't be helped." Ceil shrugged, glad the teacher hadn't started talking yet. She would take all the time she could with Melissa. Ciel hoped that Melissa wouldn't push her away or anything like that, because that would suck so much.
Melissa nodded. She didn’t say anything else and a moment later the teacher started talking.
Ciel turned her attention to the teacher, trying to understand everything that was said. If they were learning a new thing, she really didn't want to be too distracted and miss some vital piece of information.
Melissa took some notes. Biting her lip slightly. She glanced at Ciel from the corner of her eye.
Ciel took out her notebook, noticing that Melissa was taking some notes. That would probably be a good idea. She wrote down a few important things, hoping she wouldn't need whatever the teacher had said at the beginning.
Melissa got distracted watching Ciel and thinking. She basically stopped with her notes but she was pretty sure she could figure it out. I should be trying to get over her not stare at her she thought but it was already too late. The teacher stopped talking and put practice problems on the board. Turns out Melissa should of payed attention.
Ciel took a break from notes and looked over at Melissa, only to find her staring at her. Her cheeks turned pink and she gave her a shy smile, then went back to notes. When the teacher stopped talking, she turned to Melissa. "That was boring. Did you understand any of it?" Ciel asked. Just because she'd taken notes didn't necessarily mean she knew what the notes meant.
Melissa was still blushing from when Ciel caught her. “Oh umm not really,” she admitted. “I think I might be able to figure it out though.”
"Alright." Ciel nodded, her cheeks tinged pink at the sight of Melissa's blush. "Well, if you need them, I have some very thorough notes you could use." She tapped her notebook lightly, a smile on her lips.
“If you don’t mind,” she said smiling. She looked over. “I honestly couldn’t pay attention to the actual lecture.”
"I don't mind," Ciel assured her, moving her notebook so they could both see. "It's honestly I miracle these exist. That lecture really was terrible." She laughed softly and copied the first problem down. "But we can figure it out together, right?" Ciel glanced over at Melissa, a hopeful smile on her lips.
Melissa smiled and nodded. “Yeah together we should definitely figure it out,” she said. She read over the notes and copied some of it down. She then copied the question. “I think I get it.”
