Ciel nodded in agreement, frowning at the problem she'd just copied down. She glanced between her notes and the problem, then started working on it. "Really? Am I doing it right?" Ciel asked, glancing over at Melissa's work.
Melissa looked at her paper. “Yeah I think you’re doing it right,” she said writing something down. Her work looked similar to Ciel’s.
"Oh, good." Ciel nodded happily and continued working. If she got this one down, the others probably shouldn't be that much harder. Or, at least, she would know what to do and wouldn't get too frustrated.
Melissa solved the problem looking over to Ciel to see if she finished. She couldn’t help to stare at her for a moment.
Ciel finished a little after Melissa. She looked over at Melissa when she finished and gave her a little smile. "One down, a million more to go." Ciel laughed a little, finding herself staring into Melissa's beautiful eyes.
Melissa nodded not breaking eye contact. “Hey at least the board still only had the second problem up,” she said copying it down. The teacher had changed it a minute ago but she hadn’t noticed until just now. She was too busy staring at Ciel.
"Heh, yeah!" Ciel nodded, copying down the second problem as well. She was also not looking at anything other than Melissa. Half of her was trying to win a staring contest and the other half was captivated by Melissa. It really wasn't a good combination for doing anything, but Ciel didn't try to do anything different.
Melissa didn't want to turn away but she reluctantly looked down. She started working on the problem. "I umm I can't go to the library today by the way," she said biting her lip.
Ciel glanced down at her notebook once Melissa turned away. She had won the staring contest, but at what cost? "Oh, that's okay," Ciel said, starting in on the problem and trying not to sound too sad. She was disappointed, but Melissa probably had other stuff to do.
Melissa tried to just focus on her paper. She could tell Ciel was disappointed. “I Umm we can still hang out in gym though!” She said.
"Oh, good!" Ciel nodded, her mood jumping back up towards happiness. She paused, tapping her pencil against the paper, then started in on it again. "This was is unexpectantly tricky," Ciel said, glancing over at Melissa.
Melissa nodded not looking up. “Yeah It is,” she said biting her lip again. She was stuck in the middle of the problem.
Ciel consulted her notes, reading them over again before trying to continue working on the problem. She really wasn't enjoying it and hoped that it was the only really difficult one.
Melissa looked at her notes as well. Finally understanding the question. “I think I get it,” she said glancing at Ciel.
"Really?" Ciel looked over at Melissa. "Could you give me a hint?" She asked hesitantly. Ciel didn't want to not figure out anything on her own or distract Melissa, but she was totally stuck.
Melissa nodded. “Of course,” she said giving her a hint. “I could help you more if you want. He hasn’t changed it yet.”
"Thank you," Ciel said, giving Melissa a smile. "I'll try this, but if I don't get it– and that's probably going to happen– I'll be sure to ask you. If he hasn't put another one up, that is." Ciel went back to working. Melissa's help had really, well, helped.
Melissa smiled. "You can even ask if he changes it," she said smiling softly. Her eyes staying on Ciel.
"Alright. Thanks, Melissa. You're the best." Ciel smiled at Melissa, then kept working. She got past the part she'd been stuck at, but quickly came to another roadblock. "Um… could you help me?" Ciel glanced over at Melissa and bit her lip. "What is this?" She pointed at the troublesome spot.
Melissa looked over smiling still. She leaned on the desk. The teacher had changed the question and she wrote it down. She looked at where Ciel was stuck. She explained what she did.
Ciel listened to Melissa's explanation and everything became clear. "Oh, that makes so much more sense now!" She nodded and worked on finishing the problem. With luck, the newest problem would also be the last one.
Melissa finished the new problem getting it done quickly.
Ciel finished the second problem and moved on to the third one. It wasn't as bad, and with the stuff Melissa had shown her, she was confident she could finish it.
Melissa smiled when she noticed the teacher didn’t change the problem. It was probably the last one. She glanced at Ciel.
Ciel, after a little problem solving, finally finished the third problem. She looked up at the board, excited to see that there wasn't a new problem yet. Ciel looked over at Melissa and grinned. "Let's hope we're done, right?"
