Melissa smiled and shrugged. "I only had the kitchen or the library left," she said. "I guessed the library which was obviously wrong. what should we do now?"
Melissa smiled and shrugged. "I only had the kitchen or the library left," she said. "I guessed the library which was obviously wrong. what should we do now?"
"Oh, yikes." Ciel grimaced and started cleaning up the game. "Huh… I don't know. Why don't you tell me something you want to do, and I will try and make it happen?" She suggested, sliding the box back onto the shelf. The music was still playing softly in the background and Ciel was tapping the ground to the beat of the song as she turned back around.
Melissa shrugged as she listened to the music. "How about we just hang out. Maybe I can try to teach you how to bake later."
"Okay!" Ciel nodded, scooting a bit closer to Melissa. "I'd love that. What would you choose to bake to teach me?" She asked, leaning forward and resting her chin on her hand.
Melissa smiled. "Hmm well we can try a cake," She suggested. "It shouldn't be that hard." She realized that they were close together but didn't make any move to separate.
"Ooh, yum!" Ciel grinned at Melissa. "What's your favorite cake to make?" She asked. There was something wonderful about being with Melissa, sitting on the floor with music swirling around them, and Ciel couldn't keep a smile off her face.
“Confetti,” She said smiling. “I love it even though it’s just normal cake with sprinkles.”
"Hmm… You have good taste, Melissa." Ciel twirled some hair around her fingers as she looked at Melissa. "Have you ever had lemon cake with chocolate frosting? Gema makes it every once in a while and it is my favorite."
"I've made and had lemon cake I really like it but I haven't had it with chocolate frosting," She said. She liked just sitting here with Melissa talking.
"Well, someday, you should put some chocolate frosting on a lemon cake, because it will change everything." Ciel laughed . "We might even be able to make some today… Though I don't know if we have all the ingredients for a lemon cake."
"We can look," She said smiling. "If you don't we'll just have to make it another time." She stood up extending her hand for Ciel.
"Okay." Ciel nodded and grabbed Melissa's hand. For a second, she contemplated getting up and "accidentally" tripping into Melissa. But she quickly pushed the idea away and stood up.
Melissa smiled and held onto her hand. She walked out of Ciel’s room and down the stairs. “So your moms won’t mind us baking right?”
"Probably not. I'll check with them, just to be sure." Ciel peeked her head into the living room where they were sitting. "Melissa and I are going to bake a cake, is that alright?" She whisper-shouted at them.
"Yeah, just don't burn the house down," Ari answered, smiling at Ciel.
"Cool. Thanks!" She smiled at Ari, then turned to Melissa. "Let's do this." Ciel walked into the kitchen and waved at it with her free hand. "Tada!"
Melissa smiled and looked around the kitchen. She kept holding Ciel’s hand trying not to think to much about it. “Nice! So let’s see what ingredients you have,” she said smiling.
"Okay, that's the fridge and that's the pantry. We keep flour and stuff like that in that cabinet, and canned stuff in there." Ciel said, pointing to the places she was describing. "Let's see, fruit and stuff are over here…" She walked over to a bowl and peeked into it. "Well, we have lemons! What else would we need?"
“Umm flour sugar,” she started and then listed all the ingredients of the cake. It wasn’t that much. She stood close to Ciel and only let go of her hand when she had to start getting ingredients.
"Well, I think we have all that, right?" Ciel asked, feeling a small stab of disappointment when Melissa let go of her hand. "I don't know how many we need, so I'm just grabbing them all," she said, grabbing all the lemons she could hold and bringing them to the part of the counter that was free for cake baking.
“Don’t think we need that many,” Melody laughed walking over with a few things she saw and grabbed. She couldn’t find some others.
"Well, at least we'll be prepared." Ciel laughed. "Are you finding everything we need?" She asked, leaning against the counter. She wasn't sure what else they needed, so Ciel elected to stay out of Melissa's way until she needed help.
“Umm I couldn’t find the sugar and vanilla,” she said looking at all the ingredients. “Also a bowl and stuff to mix with.
"Oh, okay." Ciel nodded and walked to a cabinet, opening and pulling out a bag of sugar. She dropped it off on the counter, then walked and grabbed a bottle of vanilla from a different cabinet. "There's those…" Ciel hurried to another cabinet and pulled out a bunch of bowls. "These…" She opened a drawer and grabbed some spatulas and a whisk. "And these! Anything else?"
“That should be all,” Melissa said looking over the ingredients. “I haven’t made lemon cake in awhile but like it shouldn’t be that hard.” She turned to face Ciel.
"Perfect." Ciel grinned at her. "Just tell me what to do." She leaned against the counter, looking at Melissa with a warm look in her eyes. Even if this ended in a total disaster, she would still love it.
“Oh we also need measuring cups and spoons! Sometimes I just eye ball it but we’ll probably need those now,” she said.
