"Daaaddy!!" Tammy whined again. She'd like the bread from the day before, she wanted to try more.
"Daaaddy!!" Tammy whined again. She'd like the bread from the day before, she wanted to try more.
"I know, I know. I don't think you guys are really big enough to eat this kind of food yet, though." Rowan sighed softly and gently pet her head.
Tammy pouted, sitting down and folding her arm wings in front of her. Matthew chuckled softly, gently patting her back.
"Daddy's right, you aren't ready yet."
"But we'll feed you in just a minute. I'm sure you'll be able to eat proper food sooner rather than later."
Tammy let out a huff, but she was distracted from her pouting as her brothers woke up and moved over to sit with her, snuggling close.
Rowan pet the chicks gently and soon finished his food, pulling out the grubs so he could give them to the chicks. "Here you go, babies. It's breakfast time."
Tammy huffed some, but she accepted her grub, eating quietly.
"You've gotten better at handling the grubs," Matthew noted, smiling.
"They still make me a bit squeamish, honestly." Rowan laughed nervously, handing a grub to Timmy and Tommy as well. "But I just try not to think about it too much."
"Mm, you're still doing good!" Matthew smiled, leaning over to lightly kiss Rowan's cheek. The two boys ate quietly, Tammy finishing before them.
Rowan smiled softly and returned the kiss. "Thanks, Matthew… should we get moving again soon?" He asked.
"Soon, yes," Matthew agreed. "Will you want to carry the chicks, or should I get the nest back out?"
"If they can hold onto me, I don't mind carrying them." Rowan shrugged a bit.
Tammy looked up, nodding some.
"Daddy, daddy!" She said, wanting him to carry her.
Rowan smiled softly and picked the chicks up as he stood. "Here we go. Are you guys ready to go?" He asked.
Tammy nodded, nudging her brothers and getting them to agree. She grinned up at Rowan as she sat down in his hands, humming a small tune. Matthew smiled as he gathered up camp, helping Rowan's mother.
Rowan carefully got the chicks settled in his hands, hovering around Samul and his mother to see if there was anything he could do to help. Once they were all packed up, he walked close to Samul.
Matthew offered a smile, walking by Rowan's side once they were ready to go. He let his wing fall some to around Rowan's back, offering an affectionate smile.
Rowan smiled gently up at Matthew and kept close to him, holding the chicks to his chest so they would be safe and secure. "Hopefully we'll be there soon…"
"We will be," Matthew said, certain of himself. He hummed some, smiling at the thought. Tammy was watching from the edge of Rowan's hands, looking out as they travelled.
"How much longer is it now?" He asked, looking up at Matthew curiously. "Few days?"
"Mhm," Matthew said, smiling. "Just a few more days, and we'll all be home."
"Sounds good. We'll finally have a permanent place to stay." He sighed softly in relief.
"Mhm! We'll have to get started on making a house when we get back." Matthew smiled, moving to kiss Rowan's head.
Rowan nodded a bit, humming softly at the kiss. "Mhmm. You said they could make them on the ground, right?"
"Yeup!" Matthew let his hand run through Rowan's hair as they walked, content. "We'll have to make sure it's plenty big, though, for when the chicks learn how to fly."
