"We can spare a half-hour," Matthew said after a moment. He wrapped both arms and wings around Rowan, humming softly.
"We can spare a half-hour," Matthew said after a moment. He wrapped both arms and wings around Rowan, humming softly.
"Sounds good…" Rowan relaxed a bit more and hummed contentedly, making sure the chicks were comfortable in his hands.
The boys were asleep as usual, Tammy humming some and holding them close. She looked up at Rowan, grinning at him.
"How are you doing, baby?" Rowan asked Tammy softly. "Are your brothers alright, mm?"
Tammy nodded, still grinning as she looked down at him. She was still humming, legs kicking over the edge of Rowan's hand. She shifted so she could be leaning against him, letting out a happy trill.
Rowan pet her gently with his thumb, smiling softly down at her. "That's good. We should be on the move again soon. Are you hungry?"
Tammy nodded at the metion of food, making grabby hands towards the bag where Matthew kept the bread and other rations.
Rowan sighed and gave her a very small piece of bread to try. "Here. See if you like it, alright?"
Tammy trilled triumphantly as she took the bread, taking a bite ot it. She chewed for a moment, then looked up at Rowan with a grin.
"How do you like it?" Rowan asked gently, still petting her head with his thumb.
The girl let out a happy trill again, still grinning as she ate her bread. She leaned into Rowan's thumb more, kissing it.
Rowan smiled softly and kept petting her. "That's good. I'll give a bit to your brothers when they wake up too."
Tammy nodded as she finished her bread off, hands coming up to wrap around Rowan's finger and hold it close.
Rowan let her hold onto him, humming contentedly. "We should probably get going soon, right Matthew?"
"Right," Matthew said, nodding. He ran his own fingers through Rowan's hair, keeping close.
"Mm… at least we're almost there, right? Only a day or two more."
"Right!" Matthew moved to stand, hands coming around Rowan's chest to help him up without the need to move the chicks.
Rowan flushed a bit as Matthew lifted him, looking away once he was on his feet. "A-Ah… um… thank you…" He stammered awkwardly.
"You're welcome, dear." Matthew kissed the top o Rowan's head, smiling as he gently patted the chicks' heads as well.
"Love you."
"L-Love you too… we… we should get moving." Rowan hurried off, trying to hide his flushed cheeks.
"Okay, dear." Matthew moved to gently hug Rowan, but the man was already gone.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked, turning to Rowan's mother.
She smiled fondly and shook her head a bit. "No, you didn't. I think you probably took him by surprise. He's flustered, see?" She gestured to Rowan, who occasionally cast a glance over his shoulder at Matthew before quickly looking away.
"A-Ah." Matthew blushed some himself, smiling slightly. "I see. Thank you for the clarification." Matthew paused a moment, still smiling. Rowan was cute, like this.
She nodded and kept walking, humming softly to herself. "He's a bit shy like that sometimes. You'll have to be patient with him."
"I'll be patient, then," Matthew said, nodding his head. He could do that, for his lover.
