"Mhmm." She continued on. Rowan stayed in the front of the group, fidgeting nervously with his hands as he walked.
"Mhmm." She continued on. Rowan stayed in the front of the group, fidgeting nervously with his hands as he walked.
"Think I should say something to him?" Matthew didn't want Rowan to feel too flustered, after all. Perhaps he could offer to take the chicks for a bit?
"You can if you want to. He might relax if you can get him to calm down."
"Okay, then." Matthew sped up some, coming to Rowan's side.
"Hey, sweetie," he said softly. "Want me to carry the chicks for a little bit?"
Rowan looked up when Matthew came up and flushed a bit harder. "O-Oh! Um… y-yeah, sure, if you want to." He carefully held the chicks up to Matthew.
Matthew carefully took the chicks, nodding his head some.
"I'm sorry about being so sudden, earlier, with helping you up." Matthew offered a small, apologetic smile.
"N-No problem! Don't worry about it. I'm fine. You didn't do anything wrong." Rowan smiled shyly and looked away, running his fingers through his hair.
"Still, I don't want to overwhelm you." Matthew offered his small smile still, walking at Rowan's side.
"It's fine, really. I'm just being overdramatic." He laughed nervously.
"Are you sure?" Matthew had his head dipped a bit, so he didn't seem to tower over Rowan so much.
"Yeah, I'm sure. I'm fine, I promise." Rowan smiled a bit brighter as he looked up at Matthew.
"Okay. I love you, dear." Matthew smiled sweetly at Rowan, glad to see he was handling this somewhat better.
"L-Love you too." He flushed again and looked away, noticeably flustered. "How long until we get there?"
"We should be able to get to where we can call the horses just after nightfall, and then it'll be about a day on horseback." Matthew hummed some, holding the chicks close.
"Alright… sounds good. I should still be able to ride the horse fine." He yawned and hummed a bit as well as he walked.
"That's good, then, but I think even if we meet up with the horses we should rest for the night." Matthew hummed some, looking down at the chicks and gently rubbing their heads.
"Sounds good to me. We'll definitely need the rest…" Rowan sighed softly to himself.
"Yeah, we will." Matthew yawned softly, smiling. "Still, it looks like we're getting close. I'll be able to call them soon."
"Sounds great." Rowan yawned as well, keeping close to Matthew as he walked. "I'm getting kinda tired…"
"Mm, me too…" Matthew held back his own yawn, his wing going down to wrap around Rowan. "If you want, we can rest for the night and call the horses in the morning."
"Yeah… that sounds fine to me." Rowan looked up at the sky, which was beginning to get dark. "We wouldn't want to ride through the night, anyway."
"Right." Matthew hummed some, moving to look around.
"Here, this looks like a good place to rest."
Rowan nodded and sat down, sighing softly. "Sounds good… I could use some sleep."
"Me too…" Matthew chuckled as he sat next to Rowan. The chicks were asleep in his hands, and he gently sat them in his lap.
Rowan huddled up against Matthew and closed his eyes, soon relaxing and drifting off to sleep next to him.
