Matthew was surprised Rowan fell asleep so soon, smiling some to himself. He wrapped his arm around the other, holding him and the chicks close before dozing off.

Rowan was still asleep in the morning when Matthew awoke, curled in on himself for warmth. He was still very close to Matthew, and he seemed comfortable enough.

Matthew looked down at the sleeping man at his side, smiling softly. He moved his hand up to gently run his fingers through his lover's hair, humming softly.

Rowan smiled softly in his sleep, leaning into Matthew's gentle touch. He yawned a bit and huddled closer, looking pretty content to be asleep.

Matthew pressed a kiss to the top of Rowan's head, letting them sit there in peace for the time being. He looked down at the chicks as well, how they huddled together in his carefully cupped hand.

Rowan stirred after another half an hour or so, yawning and looking up at Matthew sleepily. "Mmmm…?"

"Morning love," Matthew said softly. He offered his gentle smile, hand moving to run through Rowan's hair. "How did you sleep?"

"Pretty good, I guess…" Rowan mumbled tiredly in reply, leaning into Matthew's gentle touch. "You…?"

"Very good with you by my side." Matthew pressed a kiss to the top of Rowan's head, smiling some.

"Mm…" Rowan huddled closer to Matthew and yawned, still very sleepy from just waking up. "We should get going soon…"

"We can wait a bit," Matthew assured, "for everyone to wake up. We'll be back to the village by noon."

Rowan nodded and closed his eyes, struggling to wake up. "Okay… sounds good to me…" He replied softly.

Matthew hummed, pressing a small kiss to Rowan's forehead.
"Love you, dear."

"Love you too…" Rowan mumbled in reply. Meanwhile, Rowan's mother was making some breakfast over the fire.

Matthew looked up after a moment, smiling some.
"It smells delicious, ma'am."

She smiled gently and took the food off of the fire. "Thank you. Hopefully it tastes good, too." She offered it to Rowan and Matthew.

Matthew happily accepted his food, sitting with Rowan still. He let out a happy hum as he ate. The chicks slowly started to wake up, and on occasion he would offer little bits of food for them to try out.

Rowan quietly ate, still very sleepy. He offered some food to the chicks as well, but didn't particularly talk much.

The chicks were happy with the food they were given, each making happy noises as they ate.
"We're almost home," Matthew said softly.

"Yaaay…" Rowan replied with as much enthusiasm as he could muster, which wasn't a ton. "How much longer, do you think?" He asked.

"We'll be there by the end of the day," Matthew said after a moment. "I could carry you, if you'd like."

"Mm… maybe. I don't wanna be too much trouble, though." Rowan huddled up against Matthew's side, yawning again.

"You wouldn't be any trouble at all," Matthew assured. He pressed a kiss to the top of Rowan's head, arm and wing both wrapping more around him.

"If you say so…" Rowan closed his eyes, humming softly as he relaxed against Matthew. He felt like he was tired all the time now, but there wasn't much he could do to remedy that until he was able to get some proper nutrition back at Matthew's place.
