Rowan smiled softly and picked the two of them up, holding all three chicks close to himself. "We'll be home soon, babies. Only a few more days."
Rowan smiled softly and picked the two of them up, holding all three chicks close to himself. "We'll be home soon, babies. Only a few more days."
The three chicks settled down in Rowan's hands. Tammy stretched some, wrapping her feathered wing arms around her brothers. She looked up, nodding.
"Daddy!" Tommy looked up, confused some.
Rowan grinned brightly and held the chicks closer, huddling up against Matthew. "Mhmm! Do you need something?" He asked softly.
Tammy nodded, holding her arms up towards Rowan's face. Matthew smiled some, tucking his head against Rowan's and kissing him lightly. She pointed at that vehemently, then to her head.
Rowan watched her curiously for a moment before smiling softly and gently kissing the top of her head. "Is that what you want?"
Tammy nodded, letting out a happy trill as Rowan kissed her head. She stood on her tip toes to kiss his nose in turn, grinning up at him.
"Awww, thanks~" Rowan cooed, gently petting the chicks. "You're very sweet. We should probably go to sleep soon so we're well rested for tomorrow."
Tammy smiled still, popping down to sit with her brothers again. Both yawned, snuggling close to their big sister.
"Yes, that would be a good idea," Matthew agreed.
"Do you guys wanna get back in the nest or are you gonna stay with me?" Rowan asked the chicks softly, petting their heads with his thumb.
"Daddy," Tammy said, pointing at Rowan. She and her brothers wanted to stay with him. Tammy was quickly taking on the role of the translator for the group, even with just one word to her vocabulary.
"Alright, darling. You can stay." Rowan carefully lay down on the ground, adjusting where the chicks were laying on his chest so they could be more comfortable.
Tammy moved to lay down with her brothers on top of Rowan, smiling some as she settled down for the night. Matthew smiled as well, moving to lay down with Rowan. He kissed his lover lightly, putting a wing around them all like a blanket.
Rowan returned the kiss and relaxed, keeping close to Samul. "G'night, everyone…" He murmured softly, soon drifting off to sleep on the ground.
"Goodnight…" Matthew trailed off as he fell asleep as well, smiling.
In the morning, he was up first, making sure the chicks were safe on Rowan's chest as he started the fire back up.
Rowan stirred a bit after Matthew, yawning and looking down at the chicks on his chest. "Mmmm… g'mornin…" He mumbled sleepily.
The chicks were still sleeping peacefully, gathered up in a pile of feathers and wings. Matthew looked over, smiling.
"Morning dear," he said.
"Morning… guess I'm stuck here until they wake up." He laughed softly. "Are you making breakfast?"
Matthew laughed softly as well, moving one finger over to pet Timmy's head. The chick let out a content sound in his sleep, snuggling closer to his siblings.
"Yes, I am. It should be done soon."
Rowan gently pet the chicks on his chest, humming softly to himself. "Sounds good to me. I'll just… uh… sit here, then."
Matthew chuckled some, smiling.
"Sounds like a good idea, dear." Tammy shifted around some as she was pet, leaning up into Rowan's fingers.
"Daddy…" She hummed in her sleep, smiling.
Rowan smiled softly and kept petting her, humming softly to himself. He kept quiet for a while, waiting for Matthew to finish with the food.
Matthew eventually pulled breakfast from over the fire, offering some to Rowan. Tammy stirred as she smelled food, her brothers waking up now that she wasn't holding them.
Rowan carefully accepted the food so he could start eating, keeping it just out of reach of the chicks. "I'll give you guys your breakfast in a minute."
Tammy had woken up by then, pouting up at Rowan as he held the food away. She made grabby hands for it.
"Daaaddy," She whined, trying to get him to give her a little bit.
"You wouldn't like this food, baby. We've got some nice fresh grubs for you. You like grubs, don't you?" He asked softly.
