Matthew laid down with Rowan, the lining of the nest nice and soft. He wrapped his wings around them, one hand resting on Rowan's head while the other arm was wrapped around his back.

Rowan seemed to be steadily relaxing as Matthew pulled him closer, melting into the other's gentle touch. "I-I'm sorry…" He whispered.

Matthew ran his fingers over Rowan's head, playing with the ends of the human's hair before continuing with his gentle touch.
"It's okay," Matthew said softly. "You have every reason to be stressed over this."

"B-But I just feel so dumb… and… and I'm forcing you to do this because I can't handle myself…" Rowan sighed shakily as he clung to Matthew.

"You're not forcing anything on me," Matthew said softly. "I'm doing this because I want to help you, Rowan. It's okay…" Matthew rested his head on Rowan's, tucking him away.

Rowan hiccuped a bit. No. Don't fucking cry.He buried his face in Matthew's chest as he trembled. "B-But we've only known each other for a few days and I'm already making you cuddle with me… we're not even dating or anything…"

"Rowan," Matthew said softly. "There's nothing you're forcing me to do. I want to help you, Rowan. I've been perfectly fine with being like this with you. I've initiated us cuddling like this before in these past few days." Matthew held Rowan closer.
"It doesn't matter if we're together or not, Rowan. I want you to be safe."

Rowan sighed weakly as he clung to Matthew, noticeably still trembling. "I-I just… I dunno… I'm s-sorry…" He whispered again. "I just feel bad, okay? Even… even if you don't think I've done anything…"

"I… I understand," Matthew said softly. He ran his fingers over Rowan's hair again. "And I'll be here while you do. I want to help…"

Rowan nodded a bit and held tighter to the other, keeping his face hidden for now. "S-Sorry I'm such a wuss…"

"It's okay," Matthew said quietly. He didn't tell Rowan not to apologize, not if it helped him feel better. He placed his head on Rowan's, arm around his waist tightening a bit.

Rowan relaxed a bit more when Matthew held him close. He didn't have the mental energy to argue with the other right now. "When do we need to go find the mages?"

"We can go when you're ready," Matthew said softly. "I done want your to push yourself."

Rowan nodded a bit. "We gotta get it done today, though… the sitter is coming." He whispered.

"Damn the sitter. If you can't handle this, then there's no way I'm letting you push yourself." Matthew spoke softly.

Rowan sighed shakily. "B-But I'm gonna be stressed no matter what… I… I really wanna get this over with so I can just stay here…"

Matthew let out a long sigh.
"Okay, then," Matthew said softly. "Why don't we wait for the sitter, then go right after that to get your things?"

"Okay… s-sounds good to me…" Rowan clung tighter to Matthew and sighed as well. "We can just wait… wait for the sitter…"

Matthew rubbed Rowan's back, keeping him close.
"By this time in a day or two, we'll be on our way back to the village, and you'll have your mama and pet with you too. It'll all be okay…"

Rowan nodded a bit, wrapping his legs around Matthew's waist to pull himself closer. "H-Hopefully… I hope she's willing to come…"

"I do too. I'm sure she will…" Matthew tucked Rowan under his chin, running his fingers up and down Rowan's back.

Rowan curled in on himself a bit more, quivering in Matthew's arms. "Y-Yeah… I'm… hopefully Maisie can acclimate well enough too…"

"What about you?" Matthew asked softly. "Will you be able to handle this?"

"I don't… I don't know, honestly…" Rowan sighed again. "I really hope that I will?"
