@ElderGod-Winter-The-Renegade-Legionnaire book

Oh I just see people who look alone and I go HIYA THERE and they look around and go who me, and I go yes you, and boom we talk and I have a new friend. But I'm just very extroverted, and I like to throw myself into the fray just because I love the thrill of it.

(my copy and pasted rant to Eva and Ice from earlier)
Always and Forever, Lara Jean, right?
I'm so mad about the way all of them are talking about Romeo & Juliet. I find it so unlikely that they DIDN'T read it and discuss everything they've already gotten wrong, and I find it unlikelier still that that Peter and Lara Jean didn't both watch it in English class. Adding on that Kitty's seen it several times?? No. I'm not gonna bother you guys with the actual details of everything they got wrong but there's a lot
I have problems in general with the way R&J is portrayed in media anyways, mainly the fact that it's satire, and wherefore art thou Romeo does not mean "YO ROMEO WHERE YOU AT NO REALLY WHERE ARE YOU" which is immediately obvious in context or if you just read literally any other Shakespeare play, most of which use "wherefore" in such a way to make it impossible to miss that "wherefore" means "why" and it's absolutely reprehensible that grown adults don't know this and are trying to tell their audiences that wherefore means where. DISNEY. It's fucking Disney. Disney does this and the writers that do this deserve to rot. In every Disney show, there's that one episode where they're doing Romeo and Juliet and in every episode, the teacher is trying to put it in "modern terms" like fuck dude maybe don't misrepresent something that EVERYONE knows about and further contribute to the problem that leads to people romanticizing things like falling in love at thirteen, huge age gaps, and dramatic suicide after a loved one dies (okay maybe I wouldn't go quite that far with the last one but I needed another point and it's definitely a "wow look they were so in love swoon" among 14 year old girls). And their movies do that too. And now books are doing it? Jfc. I get that LJ and Peter are in high school but they're SENIORS and they should know this much.
I'm trying to separate my general rage about R&J being taught and AaFLJ on its own but honestly it's not really working and I'm really mad at Lara Jean, Peter, and Kitty. And Jenny Han.

I am incapable of writing cisgendered characters and I think this is a strength of mine.

@south-is-a-tad-bit-outraged

so basically, none of my religion teachers ever liked me because i asked too many questions so when i was in eighth grade, i was supposed to get confirmed and become an “official member of the church” and instead of having a regular teacher, the head priest taught the class and apparently he had heard about me, so the first day he sat me up front. i’m also a very sarcastic person and i make comments sometimes that i think are funny, but i always say them around the wrong people, so within the first week i was on thin ice for muttering some choice phrases about where he could stick his opinions on lgbtq rights. so i got through about half the year without any more “incidents” until he started talking about teen pregnancy and how if anyone got an abortion he couldn’t give them communion ever again, and what a women’s place is, and i started being a little shit and arguing with him, because that wasn’t the first time he’s been an idiot about human rights, and eventually he got sick of me and sent me to the head educators office where she said that me getting confirmed that year wasn’t a good idea, because i probably wouldn’t be a good asset to the church until i learned the “errors” in my views, so she told me to try getting confirmed again when i has matured a little. so i left. i still have not gained enough maturity to become a “good catholic girl” which pissed my grandma off, so now i’m the delinquent grandchild

You're right and also your teachers and Priest are taking the Lord's name in vain because they are using Their name to hurt and oppress others so if that helps as a comeback let me know because like. Christian to Christian there needs to be more support in the church tbh. also you're my new personal icon. Sorry I'm rambling now.

I watched Titanic a few weeks ago and I almost choked when I remembered that Leonardo DiCaprio actually had a career and wasn't just Gatsby

@berlioz

South I thought you were in some weird cult and I honestly didn't catch on until you said "good catholic girl". Catholicism really do be like that. I agree with allthegood, they don't sound like they're teaching Godly ideas or anything.

Yeah, I'm more like a mix of Baptist Lutheran Episcopalian in terms of how I grew up in the church so I wouldn't know about Catholicism but it seems mostly okay.

@berlioz

A lot of my family is Catholic or formerly Catholic, so I'm kinda familiar with it but I'm a nondenom protestant.

catholic here-
most of us aren’t that bad
there are lots of bad apples who I unfortunately have to deal with quite often, but that can be found with any group of people.

Today I confused the ice cream lady by asking for cheesecake ice cream in a waffle cone topped with dole whip
they mixed it all together
it’s surprisingly not bad but now I understand why she gave me a weird look
