Nyt chuckled. "I'm glad you did too!"
Caleb popped his head up after a bit. "I found some comic books!" He yelled, a huge smile on his face.
Nyt chuckled. "I'm glad you did too!"
Caleb popped his head up after a bit. "I found some comic books!" He yelled, a huge smile on his face.
”Seriously! You're such a nerd.” Abby laughed, even though she was very much a nerd as well. Turning back to Nyt she smiled, ”If you're not going to put me down can we at least go over there and see what comic books you have?”
"Alright!" Nyt said, content on holding Abby. She wandered through the mess to Caleb.
Caleb looked up from reading a Calvin and Hobbes book. "Look!" He said shaking the book.
Abby smiled, rolling her eyes. ”Calvin and Hobbs? Why am I not surprised, Caleb?” Being held did limit her vision a bit as she looked over the paper books. ”Is that Superman?!?”
Caleb stuck his tongue out at her. "Yep! There's also Batman as well." He said looking back down at the book.
Nyt raised an eyebrow. "Who are they?" She asked, confused.
Abby lit up like a kid at Christmas. ”Let me see those!”
She looked back at Nyt with a wide grin. ”Only two of the greatest Comic Book Heroes ever know! Superman is the last alien survivor from a planet called Krypton, that was destroyed by its sun. You might like his stories. Batman is a bit darker. He's a human who fights crazy people in a city called Gotham.”
Nyt raised her eyebrows. "Are these fiction? Because I thought we were the first alien species your race had met." She asked.
Caleb handed her the Superman comic book.
Abby took the comic carefully, not wanting to damage the book as she showed it to Nyt. ”They are fiction. You're still the only aliens we've met. But we’ve always looked at the stars and wondered if there were others out there. So we made up stories like Superman and Star Trek… Though there are some horror stories as well.”
"Oh! That's neat. What did you think aliens were going to look like?" Nyt asked, looking at the comic book.
“Well, it really depended on what we imagined their world was like.” She started with enthusiasm, ”But mostly we tried to make them look like us so we would like them. Unless their world was hostile; then we made them pretty terrifying.” Abby gave a slightly sad smile. ”I think we did that last bit so we wouldn't feel bad about those types dying or being killed… I guess it makes sense that we would be just as monstrous to them too.”
"Oh! So you made the scary aliens look like your fears and the nice ones look human." Nyt said. "That makes sense."
Abby blinked in surprise. A part of her had been expecting Nyt to be upset… Especially about the killing part.
”Y-yeah, pretty much. Though there were a few examples that looked like us that were pretty scary as well. Did you guys ever imagine what other species would look like?” She wondered.
Nyt nodded. "We imagined that some species looked like up but with feathers or ones that looked like us but without tails and arms." She explained.
Abby smiled at Nyt. ”Guess neither of us got it right.” she laughed.
Nyt chuckled. "Yep! I never expected that Aliens would look so cute." She said with a sly grin.
Caleb looked at Abby and mouthed 'I ship it.'
(rotfl that killed me!)
Despite her red cheeks, Abby wanted to give him a one-finger salute but she didn't want to have to teach Nyt about human insults so she simply rolled her eyes at Caleb.
”And I never imagined aliens as giant cuddly Elf-cats.”
(Lol! One finger salute!)
"Well according to you that sounds like a good thing," Nyt said pulling her closer.
Caleb flashed a sh*t eating grin at her and went back to reading.
”Oh, it definitely is.” She agreed.
You are so lucky I can't reach you right now, Caleb. Abby glared. One of these days I'm gonna find you your own cuddly Alien and have them take care of you when you're injured.
”So, you said you're a programmer. What do you program, Nyt?”
"Well, I mostly create programs for robots. I don't have any of my own but people contact me and I'm able to correct faulty programming." Nyt explained.
(Robots and Aliens. Why not?)
(Why not, indeed.)
”Robots? That's so cool! What type, what do they do?” Abby asked excitedly.
If she says Sentinels or guards of some kind… Then humans should definitely stay away from the cities, for now.
"Mostly just home matinee robots, though sometimes I do transportation ones," Nyt explained.
Caleb looked up at the mention of robots.
(? Home mantinee robots? Did you mean maintenance? I’m confused… 😕)
(Yes. I meant the maintenance, not the matinee. Please excuse my autocorrect.)
(It's ok. Autocorrect is a real pain sometimes.)
”That’s so cool that you even have robots. I mean, I figured you had better tech than we do since you mastered long-distance mass space travel but… Wow.” Abby didn't mean to ramble but she was pretty excited. ”Have you guys made other types of robots too?”
