"You don't?" Nyt asked looking confused. "I thought everybody purred."
Caleb chuckled softly before turning back and looking at more stuff.
"You don't?" Nyt asked looking confused. "I thought everybody purred."
Caleb chuckled softly before turning back and looking at more stuff.
Abby shook her head, a small smile on her face. “Humans, generally, can’t. Some have tried but it doesn’t sound natural.” She smirked a bit. “Don’t ask me to try. I literally can’t do it.”
Curious and a little mischievous, Abby reached up to touch one of Nyt’s ears.
Nyt's ears twitched when Abby tired to touch them and they turned a little gray. Her purring abruptly stopped.
Caleb raise an eyebrow when she tried to do this.
Abby blushed at being caught and pulled her hand back. ”Uh… Sorry. I… uh. I'm sorry.”
Dang it! What's wrong with you, Abby? For all you know that’s something rude… or personal.
"N-No! It's alright! I just wasn't expecting." Nyt explained, her ears were almost full gray.
Caleb chuckled and left the two mostly alone as he headed towards the back of the shop.
”And you call me adorable.” Abby gave a brief chuckle. ”I guess I was just curious. You're so different. It's kinda amazing.” She brushed aside her mess of blonde hair to show off her own ears as an example.
"You are too." She said, her eyes trailing to her ears. She touched them. "Why aren't they pointed? Do you have troubles hearing with them?" Nyt asked.
Abby rolled her eyes, smiling. ”So are you, that was my point.” Her blush darkened a bit at the touch. ”No, I don't have any problems hearing. Most human ears look like this. … Some humans can have a hard time hearing or hearing at all. It's not because of the shape though.”
"Do they not move?" She asked touching them again. "How do you know where sounds are coming from?"
She shook her head. ”Nope, completely stationary.” Abby hummed for a second before shrugging. ”I’m not sure personally but I bet some scientist or doctor figured it out.”
Nyt chuckled. "That's odd. What do you find odd about my species?" She asked curiosity shining in her eyes.
If Abby were completely honest; there were a lot of things she found… interesting. Her tail, her ears, her dark shadowy tone, were her violet eyes a common color?
”Your hair moves on its own?”
Nyt nodded. "Yours are made out of dead cells, correct? Mine are kind of like wiskers expet that they aren't used for feeling things but detecting warmth." She explained.
”Wow. You really are like a giant cat.” Abby giggled. ”So, does that mean; if I had touched you behind your ear, would you have kept purring? Or is there some kind of social or cultural meaning to that?”
(poke)
(Shit! I thought I replied to this. I'll be more open now because I was in a camp and now it's over.)
"Well, it's a sign of affection and trust," Nyt explained her ear flicking a bit. "How do humans express that? Also, why don't you have a tail?" She asked.
(It’s ok. Hope you had a good time at camp!)
Abby’s eyes widened and her face immediately turned bright red.
Oh shit! That would mean I practically almost kissed her. No wonder her ears got so gray. … but she touched my ears… Does that mean she trusts me?
She cleared her throat briefly before speaking. “Well, humans have never had tails. It’s just not in our DNA to have one, though it would be pretty cool to have them. As for your other question, it really depends on the human… And the situation. To show trust some shake hands or make a subtle gesture that would only hold importance to one of the people involved.” She shrugged before avoiding eye contact. ”It's pretty similar with affection too; depends on the people involved. Some hug or ruffle an others hair even a playful jab can mean ”I care about you”. Though the one action that usually shows the most affection is…” Abby's blush darkened again. ”Kissing.”
Nyt hummed happily. "That's cool! You'd think with humans being a perdetory spices that they would have tail for balence." She said. "And what's a kiss?"
Being called an actual predator was a new one for Abby, though she supposed she couldn't really deny it. Though having the metaphorical mirror brought up… Well, Abby doubted anyone liked it.
Her blush hadn't died off yet as she tried to figure out how to describe a kiss.
”W-well… the, um, basically it's just placing your lips on an others skin… Depending on the relationship it can be given anywhere. Forehead, cheeks… It usually means the most if it's lips against lips.” She took a moment to remember where she was. ”Ok. Seriously, how strong are you? You’ve been holding me this whole time.”
"Oh! Like nuzzling?" Nyt asked. "And I'm not that strong. You're just really light." She said practically tossing Abby up and catching her as if to prove a point.
Abby yelped at being thrown into the air like that, giving Nyt a slight glare. ”To a human; you're very strong. Caleb is capable of carrying me for a brief distance if I was unconscious but he can't hold me like this and definitely not for this long.” She gave a thoughtful hum, ”I guess it's pretty close to nuzzling.”
"Oh! So I'm just strong to humans! Got it." Nyt confirmed. "I'm not that strong compared to my race. My tail is pretty strong though."
Abby chuckled. ”That I know from experience. So there are others stronger than you? That's a little scary. I can't imagine what your bodybuilders are like.”
"Most are stronger than me because I don't really do a lot of physical work except for lifting stuff with my tail," Nyt explained.
Abby's eyes widened in the tiniest bit of fear. ”Then I'm very glad I ran into you.”
She hadn't been kidding when she said they couldn't fight back but she had no idea that they were that outmatched.
”Hey! Caleb? You haven't gotten lost in there have you?” It had been a while since she saw the boy.
