Edea doesn't remember much of her early life, only that when she turned 18 she joined a group that her mother was part of. She had been for Edea's whole life, as far as she knew, but the ritual of joining was harsh and the pain wiped most of her memories before that point. She was never bothered by that, of course, happy with her mother and the group that accepted her as family unconditionally. Edea now had many aunts, uncles, and cousins that gave her love, support, and purpose. Even if she didn't remember, it was everything she had trained for.

Then things went wrong. The group routinely sacrificed people in gruesome, bloody ways but assured Edea and each other that this was fine; the individuals were often criminals or those who hurt others in some way, their sins proven to the group and their sacrifice in the name of a goddess in order to appease her. Edea took comfort in knowing every death she helped cause, every person whose blood was on her hands, was someone who would have caused greater suffering if they continued to exist in the world.

A child, however, was innocent in her eyes. Whatever crime or sin the group determined the little one had done, Edea could not believe it - even if it was the truth, the child had no way to understand the weight of their actions. Punishment was due either way, but in Edea's mind it should not have been by the slow, painful death most of the sacrifices endured. So she broke the rules, grabbing the child in the dead of night and fleeing.

The group now pursues her and the child. In pursuit of somewhere to be safe Edea looked into her father, finding out that she had several half-siblings scattered in the world. Some had already come together, working under the banner of The Sovereign Galen, and Edea joined them; the entity offered protection for both her and the child, and that was all the incentive she needed to do its bidding.

When Zaela became the Sovereign she instituted punishments for all those who served under her predecessor and committed atrocities in his name. For Edea that became tracking down the cult and helping eliminate them once and for all, and afterwards helping track down the parents of the child now that it was safe for them to be returned to their family.

After that Edea wasn't sure what to do with herself so Zaela tasked her with helping clean up the various messes caused by the Sovereign Galen. This is usually more in line with identifying a mess and helping advise Zaela on how to handle things, but for now it's better than wandering around aimlessly.
