Sariel looked from the earplugs to James, "So, are things louder, or can you hear things that are farther away?" He asked, quickly adding to what he had said, "I know I'm asking a lot of questions, there won't be many more."
Sariel looked from the earplugs to James, "So, are things louder, or can you hear things that are farther away?" He asked, quickly adding to what he had said, "I know I'm asking a lot of questions, there won't be many more."
“Ask away, I’msupposed to be introducing to this world anyway,” James put the ear plugs away, “And to answer your question, everything is louder and I can hear farther. As long as it’s quiet though. If it’s loud everything just hets amplified, if it’s quiet I can hear for a good mile or so.”
Sariel nodded after James had finished, pushing one of the stray vines on the floor away from the legs of his chair. "That sounds better than being swarmed by plants." He said, looking out the window opposite to the table. "You could probably cover your ears with your hair, rather than having to wear that hood all the time. That'd probably be less annoying in the summer."
The cat walked to the main room, then to the door, and began to paw it, its claws scraping on the wood.
Thatcher stepped over to the door. “Out already, huh?” He mumbled before opening the door. He picked the cat up to take it outside.
The cat sniffed his face as if searching for something, then hopped out of his arms and stared at him quizzically.
Thatcher sighed when the cat jumped down. “Fine. Good luck getting out of here,” he huffed before walking back into his apartment.
Damn! Sophia thought as she ran away. Maybe I was wrong about him. She transformed and began to search her pockets desperately. She pulled out her vape pen and gave it a long draw. She thought quietly as she puffed on it a few more times.
Maybe there’s still a chance. I can at least go back and watch him a bit more. She stood up and blushed herself off. And with one more quick draw, she deposited the cigarette lovingly in her pocket. Then she walked back in the direction of the strange man. She had nothing else to do. And there’s was always direct confrontation if all else failed.
“I could, and I do,” James had his hood pulled down now, “But it’s safer if I have a hood on me to. Less risk of something happening and my ears showing.”
Thatcher had shut the door and locked it again. He went into the kitchen and put the chicken away. He then walked into his bedroom and opened up the window before sitting down on the desk chair.
"I wonder how most people would react– normal people that is, to things like this." Sariel said, now looking down at the people who were passing on the sidewalk below. "I haven't had much experience dealing with people finding out things like this. Though I did freak out when you started asking questions."
Sophia circled around the house to an open window. The man was just sitting still in a chair in his bedroom. Doing nothing. She swore under her breath. She had been so sure…
"I remember," James laughed slightly, "I don't know. Probably freak out and start trying to find a logical explanation. I've never told a 'normal' person before."
"Or they'd think that you had gotten some implant or tattoo and call you weird for thinking the way you did," Sariel added, watching Bamboo run from room to room, each time carrying what looked to be leaves and dry stems.
"Yeah," James nodded watching the cat with curiosity. He didn't understand what the animal was doing, "Do you know what your cat is doing?"
"He…Hides certain things," Sariel said, looking into the kitchen. "Last month he managed to put one of my plant pots in a cabinet. I think until I found him he was just sitting in there with it," finally smiling, Sariel pointed to a small pile near the doorway to the living room. "That's one of them, I'm sure there are more I haven't found today."
James laughed a little as he looked to the pile, "Wow, that sure is a mischievous cat. Is he a normal cat or a magic cat?"
"As far as I know he's a normal cat," Sariel said, looking back over to James. "Do you have any animals?" He asked, moving his feet as yet another cloud of leaves and stems had appeared at the legs of his chair.
"No," James sighed looking down to see the leaves and stems. They grew incredibly fast, "I don't have any room in my apartment for one."
(May I join as Plague?)
Absolutely, fill out a sheet and you can start!))
Sariel nodded and put his feet on the seat of his chair to better keep them from the accumulating mess around him. "Is there anything else that you think would need to be explained? I can't think of anything else to ask,"
"Well there is one thing," James took a deep breath before getting serious, "You have heard about The Great Four right?"
"Briefly, a family member told me about them." He said, nodding a few times. "But it's like with other things like this; I don't know much."
"Tell me what you do know," James told him, "Because I have a sinking suspicion and I need to know what you don't."
"Well, I know that there are -obviously- four of them; Plague, Death, War, and Famine. Other than that I only know that they're horrible luck," Sariel said, now looking over to James with a slightly surprised expression. They're just stories though, why would we need people like that?
"Well, remember everything that kept happening on the subway? That was a sign that they were near, all four of them," James said simply, "All four are back and in this town."
(That's a really good questions why?)
