"Okay you caught me," James put his hands up and then on the table. He had a little smirk on, "You're not completely obvious, I'm just well versed in how to spot others. Then again plants were sprouting right beneath your feet."
"Okay you caught me," James put his hands up and then on the table. He had a little smirk on, "You're not completely obvious, I'm just well versed in how to spot others. Then again plants were sprouting right beneath your feet."
"That's right," Sariel said, having almost completely forgotten about the plants that had sprung up under the bench. "Also…I thought elves would be small; you're at least six feet tall." He added, finally looking up from the table rather than looking blankly at it.
"Six foot nine inches, also that is a misconception. We are all ridiculously tall," James responded leaning back in his chair crossing his arms, "Either that or my whole family are just mutants."
So almost seven, then. Sariel thought, smiling at the last of what James said. "Neither side of my family was very involved with people who weren't human, so I haven't met anyone like that, other than you and maybe a few strangers that I didn't know about."
"I think I'm one of the first in my family to integrate into human society. Either that or the others have been wiped from the family tree," James sighed, "Which I assume has already happened to me. But I know a lot about this type of stuff so if you want to learn about it I could teach you?"
Sariel nodded almost as soon as James had finished speaking. "Could you? The most I know is a few things about what I am, from a distant family member." He said, pushing off to the side the cup, which had been emptied. "It's kind of hard to find out things unless you've been involved for a long time."
James laughed as he nodded. He had one eye on everything that was going on, "Of course. I'll give you my number and address so we can meet up for lessons. Because an isolated coffee table probably isn't the best place to talk about theses types of things."
"Oh, yeah, probably not," Sariel said, finally casting a glance over the rest of the large room. "Do you have anything to write with?" He asked, having realized that there was nothing on the table and his phone was -most likely- at home.
James pulled out the pen and pad of paper from his pocket. He quickly wrote down both his address and phone number on the paper, "Never leave home without it. Feel free to contact me whenever, and we can set up a time to meet up. I would love to chat more, but I need to get back to supervising these idiots."
Picking the paper up off the table, Sariel looked at the numbers that were written on it. He stood up and grabbed the paper cup that had still been on the table. "I'll see you later then," he said, tossing the cup into a trashcan and waving before walking back through the door. I bet my apartment is going to be wrecked when I get there. He thought, still holding onto the slip of paper.
Usually, after being gone for more than an hour, he would come home to find that most of his plants had grown to fill the living room and his cat had knocked over the pots that they were in. With this time being no different than any of the others, Sariel spent the first fifteen minutes of him being home trimming the over grown plants.
James waved goodbye to Sariel, before going back to work. A few of the newer ones asked if that man was his boyfriend, to which he fervently responded no to. He barely knew the guy anyway. Once a the shifts switched and more people were working James retreated back to his office. Trying to figure out what all to teach Sariel whenever they were to meet up.
After having all of the pots back where they should be and a pile of clipped leaves and stems outside, Sariel sat down on the couch that was in the middle of his living room. A few moments later, the large grey cat that he had, streaked into the living room with its ears back and its fur on end. Pausing for a few seconds, Sariel heard what had made the cat run away. From the kitchen, he could hear the clinking of metal and what sounded like tiny thumps.
After taking several minutes creeping towards the kitchen, Sariel looked around the doorway to see what looked like a very tiny, grey human with long limbs that was trying to turn on the sink and had resorted to smacking it with a fork after several failed attempts. In addition, on its back were folded, almost transparent wings. What is that?
However, before he could get any closer, Bamboo -the cat- had jumped into the sink, causing the tiny man to escape through the window in front of the sink. I need to write that down.
Bump bump))
(Hey Des? You wanna possess my cat for a bit?)
(I can. I’ve been busy, today was an important birthdy in my family so this is the first time I’ve gotten on today)
The cat would see a decently untinteresting apartment flat. It was a decent size, having the kitchen, living room, one bedroom, and one bathroom. None of the rooms had too much color or decoration, most having a grey toned theme.
The cat looked displeased at the decor, and wandered into the bedroom in search of anything worth interest.
There wasn’t much inside the bedroom either. There was his bed, which looked made. There was a desk with a chair, a laptop on it, a dresser, a closet, and a nightstand with a lamp.
After grabbing a piece of loose paper, Sariel wrote down what the tiny creature looked like and tucked it under a book that was missing its cover along with the paper James had given him. So now I have at least one thing to ask about, he thought, staring across the living room and into the kitchen where the window was still open. Despite there not being many lights aside from the ones hanging overhead, it was still very bright in the apartment due to most of the curtains being pulled back. Along every other window was some type of plant that had been hung either above or just below the glass.
With Bamboo still scrambling around in the sink, Sariel sat on the couch, now looking forward at his TV, which was put on mute. Even though the news had been on, he was looking down at the corner of the screen where the time was displayed. Did I ask when he gets off work? Sariel wondered, glancing over to the paper that was still mostly under the book.
No, he thought, reaching over to the book and grabbing the paper along with his phone. After typing in the number, he sent, It's Sariel. When do you get off?
James had hit the halfway point of his shift when his phone went off. He picked it up and saw a text from an unknown number. Once he read the message, he added Sariel into his contacts with a book emoji next to it. He texted back, Around four. Why do you ask?
A few minutes later, his phone went off and James's name popped up. Reading over it, Sariel typed in, There was something in my apartment when I got home that I want to ask you about. Looking over at the paper on which he had written what the tiny creature had looked like, he thought of what to say other than that. Yes, a tiny man was smacking my sink with a fork and then he jumped out the window. Sariel thought, realizing how odd it was.
Before hitting send, he added, It was kind of like a tiny grey man.
James blinked a few times as he read over the text. He checked the clock and peeked his head out of his office. He found the person who was ranked below him, "Hey something came up and I need to go."
"Did it have something to do with your boyfriend?~" the girl asked him.
James sighed and pinched his nose, "He's not my boyfriend and yes. Think you can handle it?"
"Yep!" the girl responded cheerfully, "Have a great date James!"
James rolled his eyes as he grabbed his stuff, "Not my boyfriend!"
He pulled his phone out and texted Sariel, Address, I'm coming over to check it out.
After checking the last message, Sariel sent back his address and ran into the kitchen one more time to peek out the window. While the creature was gone, the fork he had was covered in small grubby handprints and the path he had taken to escape through the window was marked by little footprints. Dirty thing, he thought, only just noticing the marks. Was else did it get into before this?
James opened his phone and put the address into google maps. He walked over at a decent pace keeping his hood up on his head. He arrived and knocked on the door bouncing slightly on his feet.
(….Can I ask what is was? Lol)
(I guess you could call it a fairy, I've always thought they'd be weird little people that like to steal.)
Jogging back over to the front door, Sariel opened it, originally looking at what would be eye-level for him, only to have to look up to see who it was. "Oh, hi!" Sariel said, opening the door for James's to walk in. "You got here fast," he said, closing the door behind him.
(Got it.)
James smiled at Sariel before walking in and looking around. Sariel's place wasn't that bad, lots of plants, but that was expected for a forest sprite, "Yeah. Wasn't actually all that far from where I was. Now where is the little guy, if there's one there is probably more around somewhere."
