"Yeah, that makes sense," Sariel said, continuing to flip through the book. "Have you ever seen anything big like that?"
"Yeah, that makes sense," Sariel said, continuing to flip through the book. "Have you ever seen anything big like that?"
"Not that I can remember," James said with a little sigh. He looked up at Sariel, "Did you know that some people speculate the Loch Ness monster is actually the last dragon alive? They've been declared extinct because no one has solid evidence otherwise."
"Oh? There are probably still a few in sea caves or volcanoes. I mean, those aren't really places that we go a lot- not yet anyway." Sariel said, stopping in his flipping through the book to look at what seemed to be a fawn that had grown into the side of a tree. "A few years ago, I didn't believe in things like this. Not really sure why- maybe it was because the family members that I was around treated how I was like a normal thing."
"Maybe," James responded. He looked up at Sariel, "We're almost polar opposites. I grew up in a family that refused to integrate and ended up being isolated within the mythical world. So this is basically my entire childhood. While you grew up as a normal kid, in a normal family, except your not normal. Now your entering the world for the first time."
"Yeah, the closest I came was when my aunt said a few things. That was it though," Sariel said, sitting the book down open next to the one with the painting in it. "I'm glad I ended up meeting you though, I don't think I would have found much out if I hadn't."
"Yeah, and you wouldn't be aware of the impending doom of the world," James responded with a dry laugh, "In all honesty I'm glad I met you too."
"Impending doom, that's a nice way of putting it. But maybe as long as they don't hang around each other it won't be as bad." Sariel said, the last of what he said quieter than when he had started talking, as Bamboo slid under the couch with a twig in his mouth.
(Yo Koffee, is it okay for Sophia to swear? I can stop her if you want. But if there is no minding I will let her do her thing.)
"Maybe, but from what I've read they're drawn to each other," James sighed running a hand through his hair, "Whether it's curiosity, or some other force they want to find more out about the others."
Nah, it's fine, say whatever.))
Sariel slouched in his chair, "The only bad thing about finding this out is the worrying part." He said, glancing down at the legs of the couch, but quickly looking back up after seeing that the cat had disappeared under the furniture.
"Yeah," James nodded in agreement as he leaned back in the chair, "Maybe we should go out and try to find them? Ya know talk to them about all of this."
"Yeah, I mean, we could try. Do you think they'd look any specific way? They probably all look completely different this time than they did in all of those paintings and drawings." He said, looking down at the book with the painting while stifling a yawn.
"Well, we know what they look like as animals," James said in a bit of hopeful voice, "Otherwise I have no idea. We'll just have to look for them."
"At least one of them has to know how to do that. Plus an owl and a bear are a bit hard to hide, the problem will be the cat and mouse." Sariel said, sitting up once more. As opposed to light coming through the windows like during the day, it had since become dark outside. Reaching over to the doorway, Sariel flipped on the overhead lights.
James looked out the window to the darkened world. He let out a little sigh as he stood up, "Those two are definitely the problems. Anyways I should get going, you can keep the books for now."
"Oh, thanks…I'll see you later then," Sariel said, closing the books and stacking the four or five of them on a cushion on the couch. I've got a high shelf I can put these on. He thought. There isn't possibly a way that an aloe plant could mess them up anyway.
James gave him a slight grin and wave before walking out into the night back towards his home. He let out a sigh and looked around his surroundings, everything felt strange at night to him. It was calm and peaceful, yet there was a constant tension in the air. He never really like the night all that much anyways.
Once James had left, Sariel picked up the books and took them into his room to put on a shelf that was hung above his bed. Bamboo had finally come out from under the couch, leaving Sariel to feel around for the things he had hidden under the furniture.
"Couldn't you at least have put it somewhere easy to get to? It's not like it's super easy for you to get under here either." Sariel mumbled, grabbing a handful of leaves as well as the twig Bamboo had taken.
