Lloyd walked up quietly to the unicorn, which looked up at him as he approached. He made sure that it could always see him so it wouldn't be startled before reaching out to pet it. He seemed to befriend it quickly and fairly easily, hopping up onto its back after a minute or two.
Lillian watched in amazement as Lloyd befriended the unicorn, "Woah."
The thought of it made it difficult for Darren to speak, "W-we didn't, I didn't-I wouldn't. That's not what happened." Darren swallowed his anger for how she could manipulate him.
"C'mon, he's friendly." Lloyd smiled and held out his hand so Lillian could get onto the unicorn. "You don't need a saddle, do you?"
Mrs. Phoenix found her point of exploitation, "Oh please you don't have to lie to me. I won't tell." She winked at him.
~
Lillian shook her head and grabbed Lloyd's hand to get on the unicorn.
"Great. Let's bring him back to the house!" Lloyd clicked his tongue and dug his heels into the unicorn's sides, causing it to break into a trot. He seemed to be able to control it without reins fairly well, just using his legs and body language to guide the animal.
Darren sighed and dropped the subject, it was an awkward conversation to have with anyone's mom no matter whos. Just then the waitress came and Darren ordered his usual eggplant parmesan.
Lillian's mother ordered the most expensive thing on the menu. She wasn't paying for it. Mrs. Phoenix looked him dead in the eye, "Now dearie, I really need to know what your decision is."
Darren looked down, "I have conditions. More of a deal really." He already felt guilty.
Her list of mental notes grew, "I'm listening."
~
Lillian was utterly amazed with Lloyd at the moment.
"Wonder if I can keep him? Any name ideas? I sort of like Phos, as in light particles." The unicorn indeed looked bright, the pure white of its coat almost glowing in the dim forest.
Lillian nodded, "That sounds like a great name."
"Guess you're Phos, then." Lloyd said to the unicorn, who whinnied his approval. "Oh, keep in mind, unicorns are intelligent creatures. Much smarter than your average horse, and definitely smarter than some humans. Not to mention, they have magic. Tread carefully around them, and never make them your enemy. That'll never end well for you."
"You stop hurting her, you make sure she knows every day you care, even if it is fake. And I can get her to quit, but you have to promise me or I won't do it." The words stung his mouth as they came out and his heart felt like someone had ripped it out of his chest. You're doing this for her, she'll be safe, she'll be happy. That's what matters.
(Just waiting for Darren to come back and find Lloyd tamed a freaking unicorn lmao)
(lol)
(Lol)
Lillian's mother let out a wicked smile. The boy was so naïve, of course she wouldn't stop hurting her slut of a daughter. But he didn't need to know that, "I promise."
(I rolled a 17 for perception um Darren detects her BULL**)
The unicorn lifted Lloyd stuff with his horn as the walked by, tossing it back to Lloyd. "Thanks, Phos. I have a feeling he'll be sticking around, hmm?"
Darren looked unsure, "I hope you mean that, you touch her and I won't do this."
(Wow….)
(D&D OKAY ROLL FOR FREAKING PERCEPTION)
Lillian's mother nodded, "I won't. You have my word."
(I KNOW! I WAS JUST SAYING IT'S A HIGH ROLL!)
(Okay kiddos lets calm down here)
