"What happened?" Lillian looked at him. If the unicorn was right about his fake smile, something bad had to have happened.

"We talked…" Darren wished he could stop time to figure out what he was going to tell her.

Lillian rolled her eyes, "I know that, but what did she say? Did something bad happen to you? Please don't lie to me Darren."

"You are safe to go home. She promised me she'd leave you alone." Darren stared at his feet.

Lillian stared at him in disbelief. There was a price, there had to be a price, "How? Why? What did it cost?"

Lillian shook her head, "Please just tell me. It had to cost something, and I'm not talking about the lunch. What did you pay to do this?"

"I'm charming and your mother is a good listener." Darren looked up at Lillian. "You don't have to worry about me."

Paige was ready to meet Darren and Lillian around lunchtime. She sent Darren a text. Hey, where are you? Can we talk now?

Lillian wrapped her arms around Darren. She buried her head in his neck, tears flowed out of her eyes. What did he do? Why wont he tell me? Did I do something wrong?

Darren pulled out his phone… "Crap. Are you willing to meet Paige now?"

Darren hugged her back. (And then did the thing above)

Lillian pulled away and nodded. She wiped the tears away and put on a brave face. Her friend needed her.

"Lloyd are you willing to go meet with Paige right now? She wants to talk to us…"

"Yeah, sure." Lloyd dismissed Phos to the forest for the time being.

They all arrived at the restaurant to meet Paige.

Lillian stayed close to Darren. She was worried about him.
