"That's cool." Darren stepped forward, "Do you mind if I?" He was already reaching toward the creature.
"That's cool." Darren stepped forward, "Do you mind if I?" He was already reaching toward the creature.
"Sure, just try not to startle him. Unicorns are quite fierce when angered or threatened."
Darren walked closer as slow as he could, he wasn't in the mood to die. He stretched out his hand and let the unicorn come to him the rest of the way.
Lillian had a mile on her face as Darren and the unicorn bonded. She would confront him later with how it went.
Phos hesitated before walking forward slowly, allowing Darren to touch him. "I think he trusts you guys because you're with me. Unicorns are generally very distrustful of humans."
He pet the creature face gently but still didn't smile. He realized that Lillian would worry if he didn't pretend to be happy, so he let a fake smirk pull the edges of his mouth.
Lillian turned and hopped down from the unicorn. The force pushed back onto her body caused her stomach to hurt again. She put a hand over the bruise that had formed.
The falseness of Darren's smile made Phos tense up a bit. The smirk looked more dangerous or proud than friendly, and the unicorn shied away a bit.
Darren looked concerned. "What happened? Why is he doing that?"
"You're making him nervous somehow… what is it, Phos?" Lloyd walked up to the unicorn, who whinnied a reply. It sounded like nonsense to the other two, but Lloyd seemed able to understand it. "Apparently your smile is fake, and he is unsure of your intentions."
Darren's eyes grew wider, he became nervous hoping that Lillian maybe didn't hear that.
"He's wrong!" Darren retorted defensively.
"It's possible, but unlikely. Unicorns are highly intelligent."
"Whatever." Darren sighed and backed away. He wasn't in the mood to fight with a unicorn either.
Lloyd hardly notices that his wings are visible as he strokes Phos. His hoodie and bow were by the side of the house, temporarily forgotten.
Darren sat down on the steps of the porch. "So is that all you guys did while I was gone?"
"Yeah, pretty much. It took a bit to find him."
Darren nodded and yawned, "You gonna-yawn- keep him?"
"I'd like to. I can train him to come at any sound I choose, so he could continue living in the forest."
"That would be fun." Darren stood, "I'm gonna go inside, feel free to join."
"Alright." Lloyd remained outside, thinking about which call would be best for summoning Phos.
(Did shade leave?)
(Idk)
(I'm here! Food called me.)
Lillian walked over to Darren. She stood beside him.
Darren didn't know what to say, so he waited for her to say something. He was just sure not to look her in the eyes.
