(Wow.)
(Like I said… no life!)
Lillian's eyes fluttered open. She squeezed them tight as she curled into a ball around her stomach. It still hurt from the night before.
Darren was still awake leaned up against the wall reading the D&D handbook from the day before, he reached over and rubbed her arm, "You awake now?"
To say Lillian freaked out when Darren did that would be an understatement. She shot up and scooted away from him accidently falling off the bed. Lying on the floor she groaned and realized who it was she responded, "I'm awake!"
Darren laughed, "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."
Lillian quickly responded, "It's all good. I'm fine."
"Question about this D&D stuff… Is a monster manual something I should invest in?" Darren said looking confused as he read the handbook.
Lillian thought for a second, "You can borrow mine. Unless you want to buy your own."
"Okay." Darren smiled, "How'd you sleep?" He asked while moving to his dresser to find a shirt.
Lillian didn't want to tell him about her nightmare or bother getting off the floor, "Fine."
"Good. How's your head and your stomach?"
"They still hurt, but its nothing I can't handle."
Darren nodded, he clearly found the shirt he wanted and he slid it over his head.
A visible bruise had grown along Darren's jawline where Lillian's mom had hit him. He rubbed a hand over it absently.
Lillian noticed Darren rub his hand over the bruise. She felt guilty for it, if she hadn't been so disobedient. Then Darren wouldn't have gotten hurt.
"We need a plan," Darren mumbled through exhausted yawns.
Lillian looked at him curiously, "A plan for what?"
