Lillian's mother locked the door and sighed in relief. No way could he break through the door. She pretended not to hear him as she walked further into the room.
Lillian's mother locked the door and sighed in relief. No way could he break through the door. She pretended not to hear him as she walked further into the room.
Darren contemplated picking the lock but he held off with the illegal activity for as long as he could.
He pounded on the door, "Let me in. Please, I'll do anything!"
Lillian’s mother called through the door, “Anything?”
"Anything, just please let me in." Darren was in near tears.
She unlocked and opened the door. A smile was traved upon her lips seeing the boy so close to crying, “Then convince Lillian to quit theater.”
Darren stepped back, would he risk her current health, her life, for her dreams?
"Why do you want that so badly? She's happy, that's what you should want, she's your daughter!"
“That slut means nothing to me. She just a child who thinks they can make it big time. It’s about time Lillian grew the fuck up.”
"That's not true, you do care! If you didn't you wouldn't have cared where she was today. I know what not caring looks like and that's not it!" Darren's anger was returning.
“What do you know about me or Lillian?!” Lillian’s mother’s voice got louder, “She could go and die and I wouldn’t care!”
"If you don't care about her, you'll let me take her with me for the night."
“Go ahead!” she definitely wasn’t thinking at the moment, “Get into an accident while your at it brat!”
Darren pushed pass her and picked Lillian up off the couch, he laid her down gently in the back seat of his challenger and went back to grab the ibuprofen. "By the way ma'am you'll need more of these." Darren shook the bottle of medication at her.
Lillian’s mother was fuming as Darren left the house. She flipped him off before storming to her husband.
Darren got in his car as fast as he could.
Lillian was still asleep.
Darren reached back and rubbed Lillian's arm, "Hey Lil, are you awake?"
No response
Darren started the car and began the drive home. He was happy, he won! She was his, he could protect her.
They arrived home and Darren carried Lillian from the car to his bed upstairs.
When he got here he set her down gently and covered her with a blanket before walking over to the other side of the bed and removing his pants and shirt, he replaced his pants with pajama pants and crawled into bed next to Lillian.
Lillian’s sleep was filled with nightmares. She saw things that before today, never would have crossed her mind. In the dream her voice was hoarse from screaming and her body refused to move.
Darren moved in close to Lillian and wrapped an arm around her, "Shhhh… It's all okay now, we're safe."
Lillian felt a comforting presence through nightmarish dreams. The nightmare went away and she reentered a peaceful sleep.
(Gtg night!)
Darren didn't get much sleep that night. He thought about what happened at Lillian's house and what Lillian had to go through every day and when that made him too upset he thought about his perfect day. He couldn't fall asleep, he was wound up too tight.
