When they finally did reach the area, Septima and Aurelius started towards one of the houses, where Septima and Taurin were living.
"You can come with us," Septima said, "I'm sure Taurin and Lee will be happy to meet you."
When they finally did reach the area, Septima and Aurelius started towards one of the houses, where Septima and Taurin were living.
"You can come with us," Septima said, "I'm sure Taurin and Lee will be happy to meet you."
Silover and Skye both shifted, and followed the two.
Septima was the one to knock at the door first. She waited a few moments, and her brother opened the door. His soft gray eyes widened as he looked from her to Aurelius, and he only hesitated for a moment before seizing them both in a big hug. Behind Taurin, a much younger woman appeared. Rosalie, their half-sister, stood and watched.
"Aurelius… you're okay," she managed.
Skye and Silver waited outside, sharing a knowing look.
Taurin released his grip and looked over to Skye and Silver.
"Who are they? Did they help you?"
Septima nodded. "Probably wouldn't have found Auri without them." She invited her siblings to walk outside and meet them. "This is Taurin, and this is Rosalie, but we call her Lee a lot of the time."
"Pleased to meet you" said Silver,
"I'm skye," said Skye as an introduction, "And this is Silver"
Taurin dipped his head. "Nice to meet you too. Thank you for helping them come back safely."
Rosalie inched closer to Aurelius and eventually laid her head on his shoulder. She looked like she might cry, she was so relieved he was back.
Skye smiled, "It was coincidence," he said, "I was actually looking to find Silver here, ended up help Aurelius too"
"Yeah, they imprisoned a lot of magic-users…" Aurelius whispered, "It's disgusting. Not to mention, Val was helping them. She's the reason I was thrown into a prison cell in the first place."
Taurin sighed. "I didn't expect this… but no matter, what's done is done. Anyway, do you all want to come inside for a bit. Maybe rest, clean up, get something to eat?"
Skye shrugged, "I never say no to food" he said with a grin.
Taurin nodded. "I like your thinking."
He turned to go back inside, and both sisters and Aurelius followed.
Taurin snapped his fingers and lit the fire underneath the stove, then went to find some of the ingredients he would need to prepare a meal.
"He works at the tavern," Septima said, "He's usually the one who makes the food there, so you won't be disappointed."
"To be fair," he joked, "Most of my customers are drunk and would probably eat anything if I told them it was food."
"Well we aren't drunk said Silver, settling in a corner in wolf form.
"He's being modest," Septima laughed, "He cooks for us even when we're not drunk, and I think it's pretty good."
"Seconded," Aurelius said, "I don't know if it makes any sense, but your cooking literally tastes like love and comfort."
Septima looked to Aurelius sadly. She knew exactly what he meant, but didn't want to clarify for anyone else. She caught his gaze but immediately looked away.
"Sounds like Silver's cooking," said Skye, "He's a legend where I come from."
Taurin nodded. "Ah, cool. It's always good to meet someone else who's good in the kitchen. I don't think I'm 'legend' tier by any means, but you get the idea."
"As far as actually cooking goes, the only reason I'm a legend is cause most sentient creatures where we come from eat their food raw." said silver wryly.
"Oh, fun," Taurin replied, "I don't think anyone here is even capable of eating food raw without getting sick, so that's impressive in its own right."
"Considering most creatures in our home territory are wolves it's not surprising" said Skye
"Much more resilient than us, though," Aurelius said, "Humans are… they're very fragile. Not sure why they've been around for so long."
Taurin then finished with his cooking and divided up the food onto several plates. Rosalie helped him pass them out, and she set the table, which was just big enough to fit everyone.
"Humans are anything but fragile" said Silver flatly,
"I don't think my kid brothers would be sane right now if they weren't half human" said Silver, "Heck I don't think I'd be sane right now."
"Physically, perhaps they are fragile," Septima added, "but I think they have very high mental and emotional capacities that make them survivors."
"That seems about right," Aurelius murmured.
"Exactly why halfbloods like me and Skye are feared in battle" said Silver.
"Yeah, I'm glad you're allies and not enemies," Septima said, "I doubt I could take either of you on."
She dug into the food Rosalie had passed her.
Aurelius also started eating, and was able to down a little bit more than the previous night, but still not a lot.
Silver got up (In human form) to grab a plate for himself, Skye followed suit. "I'd be more worried about Skye then me" said Silver, "He's the one who's more powerful."
Aurelius shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "So… this rebellion… would people like us even fit in? I'm willing to fight for our freedom and safety, but where does a glass cannon belong in a fight?"
Taurin stopped. "Rebellion?"
