His eyes had drifted shut, looking almost sleepy.
His eyes had drifted shut, looking almost sleepy.
Slipping an arm around Cruz, she pulled herself a little closer as they stood beneath the trees, watching the world go by around them. The air emitted a dreamy sereneness, as if the earth was washing itself of all stress and concern.
He turned his head to kiss the top of hers, letting his chin rest there.
Fae wished that they could stay like this forever. “Cruz?”, she murmured.
"Mm?" He responded quietly.
“I— I have something I need to tell you.” Keep your emotions under control.
"Shoot…" he quietly welcomed, wrapping his arms around her and swaying a little.
Fae took deep breaths, her mind scrambling.”I— Remember at the Fair, when you asked if we were a thing and I hesitated?”
"Yeah.." he responded quietly, "I'm not mad at you if you think that, corazón."
"Yeah.." he responded quietly, "I'm not mad at you if you think that, corazón."
(Awww that's sweet.)
Fae breathed out in relief. “I was a bit worried. That’s not it, though. I— I thought I should explain myself. Ever since I was fourteen, I’ve been terrified at the idea of a relationship.”
"Yeah.." he responded quietly, "I'm not mad at you if you think that, corazón."
(Awww that's sweet.)
Cruz is so sweet (Aww)
:3 )
He nodded a little, keeping mellow and sober eye contact with her.
(Yeah, and he literally called Fae "heart")
grins so wide my lips form their own dimension )
“I—“ She chokes on her own words. Swallowing, she startled over. “October of 2007, I was fourteen.”, she whispered. “I was kidnaped and raped by a fifty-year-old man on the street.” There. That’s half of it., her mind soothed her.
(Yeah, and he literally called Fae "heart")
That much I understood lol. This whole thing is so cuuute)
His brows scrunched together, but he just nodded again. He didn't shower her with forced pity or despair. Just a soft nod to remind her he was listening.
Fae gulped, tears springing to her eyes. “He had also kidnaped another girl, Laila —you met her at the party—, who attacked him after we arrived at his house so that I could escape. He was too strong.” A tear rolled down her cheek. He tied us each to a post and made us watch as the other was raped. “When I cried, he told me to get used to it, saying that I would be getting a boyfriend soon and that all boyfriend did this.” Then, she added hurriedly: “I never believed it, I know you would never, ever do that, but the fear stuck. Nine months later I was at the hospital watching Laila give birth. Unlike me, her parents didn’t let her get an abortion.” The tears were coming fast now, hot and painful.
He brought a hand to bring her head against his shoulder, hugging her tightly.
And Fae cried, tears pouring out of her as she leaned into Cruz, her arms wrapped tightly around him in a silent gratitude. “A few months later, a guy my age on the subway groped me and asked me to be his girlfriend.” She took a deep, shuddering breath in. “I am so sorry for turning you down at the Fair, Cruz, you have no idea how much I regret that. But— every time I begin to say yes, fear stops me.”
"No, no, Fae. Don't ever think I'll get mad. If you get scared, I'll give you all the space you need," he promised.
Fae, trembling, looked up into his beautiful eyes. “What did I do to deserve you…”, she murmured. “You have no idea how much I want to be with you, but…” She stared down atvher hands, fear coiling in her stomach like a venomous snake.
"We don't have to be physical to be together," he clarified for her, petting her head.
Fae closed her eyes, leaning into him. “Thank you, Cruz. Thank you so incredibly much.” She faltered. Now you’ve made a big deal out of something that is nothing compared to what Xriz has gone through. Good job., her brain chastised her.
