"Hm?" Steve sounded as he sat down, his gaze flickering over to the tall, illuminated ride a little further away, "Oh. Ferris wheel, I think. We've never been on it together, so I thought–" He shrugged, smiling softly.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Oh, right." Bucky replied with a smile. "That sounds fun." he ran a hand through his hair, looking over at Steve with a soft, happy simle.

"Sure does," Steve said with a smile, propping up his chin in his hand and taking a sip of his milkshake, "It's a nice view, I reckon. Especially now in the evening, with all the lights and the ocean farther out."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky nodded a little, looking around the area. "It definitely is." He agreed. He also just thought they were lucky no one had recognized either of them.

Steve hummed as he briefly took in the sights of the amusement park, taking a bite of his hotdog and chewing thoughtfully before he turned to Bucky with a smile, "I dunno if you remember– but we went up the Statue of Liberty one time, before a storm. And the view; It was really somethin'."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky looked at him. "I…don't remember, no. Sorry." he replied softly, running a hand through his hair and letting out a faint breath.

"It's alright," Steve said with an empathetic smile and a soft nod, twirling the straw of his drink. "Y'said it looked like the sky was holding its breath– it was so quiet," He said with a laugh, "Then it rained. Hard. For a good few days."

"No, you weren't," Steve smiled a little shyly, the tips of his ears going a little red as he thought of their journey home in the pouring rain, pulling their coats over their heads and laughing as they splashed through the puddles. He cleared his throat and took a sip of his milkshake, letting out a faint laugh, "I was sick for a good few weeks after that storm hit."

(ooh what if they see the pic of them in the fountain and they're all giggly)

@ElderGod-Icefire

(yessssss)

Bucky nodded a little. "From what I remember, you were always sick, though." He replied, shaking his head and taking another bite of food.

"Hm," Steve nodded, chewing a bite of his hotdog, "I guess you could say I was, but after that, I was stuck in bed for a good while. Yeah, it wasn't too fun."

Steve shrugged light, smiling as he let out a soft sigh. "But it's not too important, really. Asthma was a bitch, but you were there a lot of the time, to cheer me up and make me laugh even if it sent me into a coughing fit."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky smiled a little at that, still wishing he could remember any of that. "Ah. Well, at least I did that much." he shrugged his shoulders a little bit.

"You did a lot for me," Steve said, nodding slowly as he smiled at the man responsible for so many good memories in such a painful time for the country, "–But I'm rambling, sorry. Those were just happy times in some…not-so-happy times."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky nodded, then shrugged. "I don't remember much of it. It's fine." He replied. He remembered bits and pieces, more every time Steve spoke of it, but nothing concrete or whole yet.

Steve took a sip of his milkshake, absentmindedly twirling the straw. "I hope that whatever it is we end up doing changes that," He said with a faint smile, "Even if you don't think so, I think you deserve to remember being happy more often."

Deleted user

"No, you can't" Steve softly agreed, his gaze lingering over him for a moment, almost as if Bucky was a painting he admired, but couldn't quite figure out, "And you won't. I just hope that 'someday' will come sooner, rather than later. But until then, I think we oughta make some more happy memories." He said with a laugh.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky smiled a little. "Yeah." he replied, finishing his food. "Besides, the more memories I have, the better, right?" The more to block out the bad ones. And he knew that there would be so, so many bad ones.

Deleted user

"Mhm," Steve said with a smile and a nod, taking a sip of his milkshake and not picking up on the dilemma behind Bucky's words. "But also– it's not just about memories when it comes to you, and…us," He said a little shyly, "We got a second chance, I guess. And I feel pretty lucky to have you back."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky's mouth twitched in a faint smile. "Yeah." He replied. "Although I dunno about lucky." He shrugged his shoulders, shaking his head.

Steve nodded slowly, the memory of Bucky's fall faintly playing through his mind. "Maybe. I just thought I'd never see you again," He said with a shrug, "But I did. Even if it wasn't under…the best circumstances. Could've been luck, or something."
