Bean nodded, passing Aspen to Lis. Once she did, she rushed off to get bandages and antiseptic. Lilac sat up, looking around. “Is there another person hurt?!” she held her hand against her head in disbelief. Luka stirred awake but didn’t get up.
Mori whined softly in his sleep and held tighter to Lilac, not quite awake yet, but clearly unsettled. The muffled noises from the other room were starting to make him stir.
Kas was still out cold on the floor, clinging to Luka. He didn't move at all when another injured person was brought inside. It seemed like nothing was going to be enough to wake him for a few hours at least.
Lilac turned to Mori and held him close. She was internally cursing herself out for being loud. Luka turned to face Kas, staying quiet. Well, I’m glad the noise isn’t going to wake him up… he thought to himself.
Aspen watched the strangers care for her, as if she weren't really there, a stranger in her own body, she blinked, her vision coming back slowly, once she could see clearly enough, she tried to stand up dazed "Im fine." She grumbled at the people taking care of her "I wasn't bit, just a gash, from running into a car." She stated aloud, for anyone to hear, her legs trembled under her weight, but she steadied herself.
(also I realised I never described Aspen's physical appearance besides the picture, so here ya go:
Aspen is 5'8 while very skinny and frail looking with a slim face, and thick, lower back length hair, her agility to climb and her stamina run very high. She has small, petite features, which include her shoulders, arms and legs, her body can be visibly feminine, if she wants it to be, she has wider hips and a smaller waist, but she usually covers her curves with baggy clothing.)
Bean rushed back, with bandages and antiseptic in her hands. She handed them to Lis as she tried to help in any way she could. “That’s still bad!” she cried as she rushed over to Aspen to help with her balance.
Aspen looked at her "Im fine, I don't need to be tended to, I can fix it on my own." She said looking around wildly for Arlo, when she spotted him, near her, chirping at a worm, she scooped him into her hands and sat him on her shoulder, she looked around and her eyes landed on the girl that had spoken to her, she looked her age, and her face softened, she sat back down "it just hurts a little, I don't need you guys wasting your materials on me." She added quietly.
“It’s not a waste if we’re helping someone…” Bean tried to smile in this stressful situation. “Plus, you never know…you might actually like being with the rest of us,” she told her, helping her inside. She was glad to meet someone her actual age. Everyone else was either older or younger.
Aspen gripped the strangers upper arm, steadying herself. She turned to her and gave a smirk "maybe you're right, I have been alone since this whole thing started anyway." She said softly, "say, whats your name?" she asked the overly nice girl.
“Bean Rose,” Bean smiled softly. “And no, Bean doesn’t stand for anything,” she laughed. “My siblings are over there,” she moved her head towards the others. She helped lead Aspen to the couch, where she started to focus on patching her up.
Aspen sat down reluctantly, watching Bean with a fascinated look; this girl looked her age, yet they were so different, she seemed put together, while Aspen herself, survived and lived sloppily. Aspen swallowed audibly.
"How old are you?" she asked bean, curiously.
“Sixteen,” Bean smiled at her. She still couldn’t believe she found someone her age. They looked so different in terms of outfits…Bean was more colorful while Aspen seemed to be more black-and-white.
Aspen gave a single nod, "me too" she said quietly, she looked out into the darkness.
"May I ask, how do you do it, how do you seem so…put together, with this whole mess?" she asked Bean, her eyes pleading for answers.
“I…I don’t know…I just lost my little sister not too long ago so I’m kind of a mess…” Bean muttered, trying not to cry. “I-I guess I just focus on keeping the rest of my family safe…”
Aspen didn't know why, but she rested her hand atop of Bean's, she looked at her and looked away once they made eye contact "don't-" she paused thinking of how to word the sentence she was trying to say "I lost my little sister too, I know how bad it hurts…" she finally managed to say, her voice almost a whisper.
Bean held onto Aspen’s hand tightly as she hiccuped softly. Tears started to flow from her eyes. She blamed herself for Hailey’s death ever since it first happened. Before she could calm herself, she was crying her heart out.
Aspen widened her eyes in surprise, she couldn't understand how a girl she just met, could pour out her feelings like this, let alone to her. But that quickly faded and she scooted closer to Bean, their knee's touching, due to the fact that they were sitting across from each other; she rested her free hand on Bean's knee, "look…I know you probably think it was your fault" she said quietly "and I do too, but you cant blame yourself for everything shitty that happens around here." She added softly, looking at Bean with a mix of sadness and hurt in her eyes.
Bean rubbed her eyes with her wrist. “I-I know but…I-I was supposed to protect her…” she choked out, the dam preventing her from talking about this finally breaking. She was glad for the company but…she felt bad about venting her problems to someone she just met.
"Okay, if you two are done and these people are getting taken care of, I'm gonna take a nap. Too many rando's showing up needing help." Earl said, checking his watch.
"You all can have the fun of dealing with this."
It was strange, now that he thought about it.
Why were so many people just showing up at the porch, injured? Was it a coincidence?
Or something else?
Aspen looked up into Bean's wet, sad eyes and frowned "it wasn't your fault, people are gonna say that to you, the rest of your life, but trust me, it wasn't your fault.. never was, never will be." Aspen stated quietly, her voice shaking.
(Can I assume that Maze is pretty much patched up?)
(More or less. Also I'll be on in a bit, volunteering at a kitty shelter)

(That sounds like so much fun! I love 🐈)
Bean took a deep breath before wiping the rest of her tears away. “Thank you…” she smiled sadly, glancing toward Aspen’s eyes. She hugged her tightly. “This really means a lot to me…” she muttered, glad she could finally let that all out.
