After Earl finished his morning routine, he walked out of the room and started down the stairs.
"Good morning everyone!" He smiled, but tripped on a rock.
"OW OW OW-" He cried as he rolled down the rest of the stairs. Painfully.
Rachel looked out from the kitchen and sipped her coffee.
"Anything broken? No? Then suck it up."
Lilac nodded. "We'll go soon once everyone's ready…" she tried to calm Mori again as she leaned back. Luka sighed. "Yeah, and we'll survive…we have to…" he muttered, looking away. His mind kept going back to how Hailey couldn't survive and be with the others.
Mori cried out in fear when he heard Earl falling down the stairs, curling up tighter as he cried. "Oh god… o-oh god…" He whispered over and over to himself.
Kas huffed a bit, not seeming particularly reassured or pleased. He jumped at the loud thud and wheeled his head around. "Jesus! What was that?!"
"Shh…he might be okay…" Lilac tried to stay calm but failed. She, herself, was starting to panic as well. Luka sat up, hugging himself a little. "I-I don't know…" he muttered quietly.
Earl snorted as he stood up.
"I'm fine guys. I'm not hurt. No ribs were harmed." He said walking out into the living room.
"See? And, I dare say, look fabulous." He strutted awkwardly around the coffee table trying not to laugh.
Rachel giggled. "Yes. That is one way to describe it."
Mori whimpered weakly, staying curled up in his paralyzed ball. He was still terrified, and he was struggling to calm down even more now.
Kas rolled his eyes and lay back down on the floor, seeming satisfied enough with the answer to not ask any more questions.
"Hey, hey, look at me," Lilac sat in front of Mori, trying to calm him down. She put her hand on his shoulder. Luka smiled a little, leaning his head on Kas's shoulder. "So…."
(Alright Ima head off for the night, see ya'll in a few hours)
Mori flinched when he was touched and looked up at Lilac weakly, his face very pale. He looked pretty out of it, and dazed from fear and his concussion. "I-I don't feel good…"
Kas glanced over at Luka curiously, raising one eyebrow. "So…? So what?" He asked, bewildered.
Lis sat on the front porch when she and a couple of others had slipped outside to check for any trouble. She listened carefully in the direction of the woods. There was a lot of rustling and snarling, but it was light enough out they'd be hard targets for now. The group would just have to give the woods a wide berth and stay on guard during travel.
"Ugh, you hear that?" she asked Maze, "It looks like we're in for quite the time if we're not careful. Maybe even if we are."
Lilac put her hand on Mori’s forehead, worry filling her body. “Hey…Rachel?!” she called out, not taking her eyes off of Mori. Luka turned to face Kas. “How long do you think we have until we have to leave…?” he asked quietly, his voice breaking. Bean leaned back on the couch, staying quiet as she didn’t know what to say.
Mori curled up tighter, hugging himself as he whimpered and cried. "I-I'm sorry… I'm sorry…" He whispered over and over, choking on his words and lapsing into a coughing fit.
"What do I know?" Kas rolled his eyes and stared at the ceiling. "But probably not the however many weeks it takes for a dislocated knee to properly heal. We don't want to be in one place that long."
Lilac tried to help Mori back up. “Hey, hey, stay with me, kid!” she yelled as she tried to calm him down. She was scared but if she showed it, Mori might panic. She couldn’t have that. Tears were threatening to escape her eyes. Luka heard his sister and went silent, sitting up. He rushed out and over to Mori and Lilac. “Mori!” he skidded onto his knees in front of the younger boy, panic rising in his voice.
Mori didn't seem to be helped by having extra panicked people in the room. He was ghostly pale, and started struggling to get up. He managed to get to his feet and ran off into the bathroom to throw up.
Kas watched the whole fiasco from where he was, not really able to get up at the moment considering his leg. There wasn't exactly anything he could do to help, either.
Lilac followed him, to make sure he’d be okay. She waited outside the bathroom door, not wanting to intrude too much. Anyone who saw her like this would know how worried she was. Luka walked back over to Kas, putting his face in his knees. He was scared. He just wanted everyone to be okay and he wanted this stupid apocalypse to be over.
Mori stayed in the bathroom for a while, not wanting to bother anyone else with his presence, especially not until he felt a bit better. He coughed weakly, tears rolling down his pale cheeks.
Kas looked over at Luka, obviously bewildered. "What's wrong with the goth kid?" He asked.
“If you need anything…I’m right out here….okay?” Lilac sighed, whispering. She didn’t want to force her assistance on the kid but…if he needed help, she wasn’t going to stand by and do nothing. Just tell me though… she tried to hold back tears. “I-I don’t know…” Luka choked out, looking up at Kas. Tears were now freely falling and he was barely holding himself together.
Mori whined weakly in reply, curling up on the floor of the bathroom. His head was killing him, and he couldn't really think straight.
Kas was more bewildered and a bit uneasy now that Luka was crying, not really sure what to do to help. "Well… uh… you said he has a concussion, right?" He asked. "If he's throwing up, that's probably it. And he's just a little kid. Could've just had a nightmare that spooked him, I dunno."
Lilac took a deep breath. “D-Do…Do you want an ice pack…? Or something?” she asked, hearing her own voice break. She hated not being able to do much. She hated how Mori was suffering. Luka nodded, wiping his eyes. “Y-Yeah…p-probably…” he whimpered. He was still scared for the kid’s safety…even if it was just a concussion.
"N-No…" Mori replied weakly, taking his hat off so he wouldn't feel so hot. He was panting softly, clutching his stomach where he lay on the floor.
"I'm sure he'll be fine. Just relax. We've got a few people here with some medical knowledge anyway, so I'm sure they can deal with him fine. Just give him meds and something to drink and he'll perk up."
"Yeah." Maze didn't take her eyes off of the forest. If something came, she would be in trouble, they all would. Maze thought for a moment, with her arm injury maybe it would be a good idea to get a gun. Her dad owned a few guns, but she was focused on her grandparents, it never crossed her mind to go back home and grab some. Her home town was close though, if she suggested to go back would they agree? Maze was lightly tapping her foot deep in thought. The girl next to her seemed to say something, but she didn't hear her.
Rachel raised a brow. "Mori, you should get an ice pack. If you're hot, and that looks like the case, you need one." She said, hand on her hip.
She nodded at Lilac to get a few. "Would you mind getting my duffel bag? Has some medical stuff that I need to perform a check-up."
(Wait, it just occurred to me, where tf are they getting ice packs? Are they like the chemical ones?)
Lis let out a sigh and skirted the perimeter of the house. Nothing else unusual besides the noises in the forest. She looped back to the front where Maze was.
"Not sure if we're going to be able to leave today, but if we don't, those zombies probably already know where we are. They're just waiting."
(I…I didn't think about that. Let's assume the chemical ones lol)
