Levi had returned to sitting with his back on the base of the couch, staring at nothing in particular on the floor. When he heard Tohru, he shifted slightly but kept staring straight ahead. They had a lot of people now and Levi wouldn't say he hated it, but he certainly didn't like it. They were getting dangerously close to the amount in his last group just before people started dying. He didn't want that to happen, especially not to Tohru, or the kids who'd just lost their sister, to any of the newer people, and definitely not to Mori. He felt his chest start to close up in a slight panic and instinctively reached behind himself to grab Tohru's hand.
Tohru startled slightly when Levi grabbed at his hand, but when he realized what it was, he relaxed a bit.
"You alright? Do you need something?" he asked, tilting his head and giving Levi's hand a gentle squeeze.
Oh god, I'm being awkward, aren't I? But I said I'd try to do what I can for the guy, and I really, really meant it.
"Aaaaanyway," Lis announced, "I'm going to take a peek outside, and make sure that we're not in for a surprise or anything when we try to leave."
(Just thinking about how if Levi/Tohru end up being a thing, that makes Tohru Mori's uncle as well ;-; which is cute af)
(that was one of the reasons I thought it was so cute)
Maze jumped at the chance to go outside. When she stood up, her clothes were sticking to her body due to the dry blood, it showed her figure more, and if anyone was confused about her gender, this would definitely tell them that she is female. "Wait I'll come along." Maze raised her arms to stretch them out, sleeping on the floor was not comfortable. She slipped on her boots, and waited by the door. She hadn't talked much since she got here, so many of the people here hadn't heard her voice before. Her voice was mid range and sort of monotone with a slight rasp.
“K-Kas?” Luka faced him as he tried to stay quiet. Lilac pulled Mori close. “Shh…I got you…” she whispered, hugging him. Bean turned to face Aspen. “Hey, you okay?” she asked, worried about the new girl. All three siblings cared a lot about the people they were talking to.
"Yeah, what?" Kas asked in reply, a bit grumpy from having just woken up. He seemed pretty out of it and groggy. "What's going on?"
Mori shook his head a bit and tried to pull away, his breathing hitching. He froze up, trembling violently in fear. It didn't seem like he wanted to be restrained right now.
“Do you want some fresh air?” Lilac offered, letting go of him. She understood what it was like to not want to be restrained at a certain moment so she gave him his space. “Just checking if you’re okay…some new people came,” Luka smiled softly before looking away.
Mori shook his head a bit again, hugging himself tightly as his breathing picked up. He didn't really want to move or do much of anything other than wait his fear out.
Kas glanced up at Luka, confused and still drowsy. "New people…? How many? Where did they even come from??"
“No clue. Looks to be about two people,” Luka shrugged. “One of them is getting along with my sister Bean quite nicely…if you know what I mean,” he smirked, elbowing Kas slightly. Lilac nodded, staying quiet. She was here if he needed anything. “Can I get you some food?”
"Mm…" Kas sat up a bit and tried to get to his feet, seemingly forgetting that he was injured. He collapsed pretty much immediately, hissing through his teeth in pain. "Nngh… can we put some kind of pressure bandages or something on my leg? Knee keeps moving around all wrong… makes me nauseous."
Mori shrugged weakly, hiccuping a few times as he rubbed at his teary eyes. He was clearly upset, but he wasn't in much of a state to explain what was upsetting him so much.
Luka nodded as he rushed off to get bandages. When he came back, he immediately started patching Kas up. Lilac wanted to set her arm on Mori’s back but decided not to. She didn’t want to force him to open up if he didn’t want to. She sighed softly, moving closer to Mori.
Kas winced a bit whenever his knee was touched, tentatively moving it when it was bandaged up. "I think that helped… I'm not really a doctor, though. I'm starving. Do we have any food?" He asked, staying seated for now. "I gotta eat something before my body starts tryna digest itself."
Mori crossed his arms over his knees and buried his face in them, sobbing quietly. "I-I'm s— s-sorry…" He whispered.
(Kas is a growing teenage boy and he desires f o o d)
Luka nodded. “I think Bean and Lis cooked that deer meat…” he got up and left to get some of the food. When he came back, he handed a piece of meat to Kas. “Here,” he smiled. “Hey, hey, it’s okay…it’s not your fault…” Lilac rubbed Mori’s back, now focused on his well-being and ignoring any reluctance she had.
"Thanks." Kas accepted the meat and started eating, seeming pleased enough with it. He didn't expect it to be seasoned or anything considering it was the apocalypse and all; he was just glad to have food.
Mori tensed up when he was touched, hiccuping and sniffling. "W-Who's still alive…?" He asked weakly, sounding very tentative, as though he wasn't sure he wanted to know the answer.
“We’re all still okay…” Lilac told him, trying to remain calm. “No one died…” she smiled a little, knowing the answer would be something Mori would like. Luka smiled, sitting next to Kas. He started eating his own piece of meat as he was glad to have some cooked food. It was better than berries and fruit snacks.
Mori looked up at Lilac weakly, seeming a bit surprised. "R-Really? But I thought… I-I was sure that a couple of them had died…" He said softly, more to himself than to Lilac.
Kas was growing pretty antsy after he finished his food, frustrated by not being able to move. He groaned, laying back on the floor.
"Just a little stressed," Levi said, his voice shaky. He leant his head back so he was staring up at Tohru's face. "We're matching numbers with my old group, and people died after we hit twelve."
(I had to count the characters, I hope there actually is twelve, and if there isn't, I'm blaming it on Levi's bad memory and inability to recognise people (he's gonna mix up Luca and Kas especially since their names are Luka and Lukas))
“No, they’re okay…” Lilac smiled, pulling Mori close. “They’re all awake and I think they’re patched up too…” she admitted. Luka laid next to him, smiling softly. “Need anything else?” he turned to face Kas, ready to help him in anyway he can.
(Bean, Lilac, Luka, Kas, Tohru, Mori, Levi, Aspen, Max, Earl, Rachel, Lis)
(Yeah, that’s twelve)
"No!" Mori cried out when he was hugged again, loud enough to hear from the other room. He started growing more distressed again, hiccuping a few times. "N-No… I… t-the zombies…" He stammered weakly. "C-Can't…"
"I need my stupid leg to not be stupid." Kas huffed, glaring down at the offending leg. "I can't really get up much. I'm gonna go crazy if I have to sit still."
"Oh…" Tohru whispered, "I think as long as we try to organize ourselves, we can make it, okay? Just because it happened once doesn't mean it'll happen again."
He was trying to be reassuring, when a similar thing had happened to him.
"A lot of us have learned from our mistakes- albeit, very deadly mistakes, but there's no way we'd make them again."
He furrowed his brow.
"Do you need me to do anything for you?"
(Yeah! It's exactly 12 now if I counted correctly!)
Lilac let go of him. "The zombies aren't here right now…" she tried to reassure Mori, sighing. Luka sighed softly. "I know but if you don't, you'll never get better…" he muttered, getting closer to Kas.
Mori folded himself forward on the floor, trembling as he covered his head and neck with his hands. He was still crying softly and didn't seem very reassured. "G-Gotta… gotta be able to run… can't be stuck… can't… c-can't be stuck…"
"Mmmmmm…" Kas pressed the base of his palms against his eyes, letting his vision go red for a few moments. "I can't keep still. We have to keep the group moving and I'm not going to hold us back."
