"I-I guess so…" Mori replied weakly through the door, although he stayed where he was on the floor. He coughed weakly, shifting uncomfortably.

Maze snapped out of her thoughts and look at Lis. "Yeah. Question, how many people in this house have guns?" Everyone would need a gun. Some would disagree, but even the kid would need one. No one could tell what would happen, he need to be prepared. "My hometown is about a day away. If we took a small group, we could go to my house where my Dad has plenty of guns for everyone. And with my injuries I won't be much help without one." Maze knew they might say no, but if they were smart, they would agree.
"Oh, I don't know," Lis replied, "I have one, but I just got here yesterday myself, so I don't know who else might have them."
She shrugged. "If it's only a day away, I'm sure you can get the others on board. I don't know what their end goal is, but taking a little detour to get more important supplies seems worth it to me."
Lilac sighed. “Hang in there, kid…” she whispered, leaning against the door. Luka looked at the ceiling. “God, I’m bored…” he muttered as Bean left the room. She was looking for something….at least, Luka thought so.
"Same. We should go outside or something." Kas sighed softly. "I'm already sick and tired of sitting. It should be easier to walk with the bandage on, as well."
"I like you, you're smart." She gave Lis a smile. Maze could tell they were going to be friends. "I'm going to head inside and see what the others say." Standing up, Maze tripped on the stairs a bit, but caught herself. "Do you want to join? It would be nice to have some back up."
(Sorry it's a little short)
Aspen looked at Bean "yeah im okay, thanks." She said looking around wildly
Bean came back with something from her bag. She sat next to Aspen as she held the object in her hands. Luka nodded. “Yeah, but we should be careful…” he sighed, getting up. He offered his hand to Kas.
Kas accepted Luka's hand and, with a minute or two of struggling, managed to get to his feet. He didn't let go of Luka once he was up, simply limping towards the front door. "Where we heading first?"
“Let’s just go out to the porch,” Luka smiled, screaming internally. Oh gosh, oh gosh, he’s holding my haaand- his mind raced as he kept a smile on his face.
Kas didn't really seem to notice, simply nodding and heading out to the porch with Luka. "Mm. It's nice outside, I guess."
Luka sat down on one of the steps, looking off into the distance. “Wish it was under better circumstances though…” he laughed sadly before his smile faded.
"Yeah." Kas slowly sat beside Luka, careful not to put too much weight on his injured leg. "I guess it's probably better now, though." He sighed softly. "I've been alone for a long time."
Luka turned to face him. “How long…? If you don’t mind me asking…” he asked quietly, trying to stay polite. He didn’t want to force any information out of Kas.
Kas moved his head from side to side a couple times, humming in a noncommittal way. "Mm… couple years, maybe? Hard to say. Time is hard to keep track of." He shrugged.
“A couple years?!” Luka froze. He’s been away from his family that long?! Luka couldn’t believe it. “That’s way longer than how long my family was separated…” he admitted looking away.
Kas shrugged again. "Not like I had much choice. My parents got turned when I was… around ten, I think? God, it's been a while. I haven't had a whole lot of traveling companions."
“I’m so sorry to hear that…” Luka choked out. “It must have been awful…being by yourself,” he muttered, resting his hands on the porch step. It was hard to think about.
"I guess so. I got used to it." Kas looked away, fidgeting uneasily. "My dad taught me how to hunt when I was little, so I did alright as far as food went. Shelter was harder to come by, but I managed."
“Well, you’re not alone anymore. We’ll all help each other survive…” Luka put his hand on Kas’s shoulder, smiling a little. “You don’t have to be alone anymore. We’re here for you. I’m here for you,” he smiled, blushing a tiny bit.
Kas flushed lightly as well and nodded. "Uh… thanks, I guess. You guys just gained a bunch of new people, though. It might be hard to travel with such a big group of people."
“Yeah, but we’ll figure it out…” Luka told him reassuringly. “Plus, a good number of us know how to fight in some way, so…we should be okay,” he smiled as he took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"I guess so. What about the goth kid, though?" He asked. "We might not be able to get moving until he's… you know… functional. Seems like he can hardly walk right now. I guess he hasn't had any serious injuries up until now."
Luka nodded. “Yeah…Mori’s gonna need a couple moments…” he sighed before facing Kas again. “But he’ll push through! He always does!” he smiled a little, confident that Mori will be okay in the long run. Lilac was still waiting outside the bathroom door for the kid. “Mori…? You okay in there?” she asked, worry laced in her tone.
"Oh…" Tohru whispered, "I think as long as we try to organize ourselves, we can make it, okay? Just because it happened once doesn't mean it'll happen again."
He was trying to be reassuring, when a similar thing had happened to him.
"A lot of us have learned from our mistakes- albeit, very deadly mistakes, but there's no way we'd make them again."
He furrowed his brow.
"Do you need me to do anything for you?"
(Yeah! It's exactly 12 now if I counted correctly!)
"I hope you're right." He sighed and looked at his hand in Tohru's. "Can I tell you something? The day I met you and Mori and the others, I was supposed to wait at the outpost for the rest of my group. But I got swept up by one of my family members being alive and you were really nice that I went with you guys. And now I'll never know if any of them were there. And they won't know I was there."
