(:D I found it!)
(oooh yay!! I only just saw this disregard what I said in our other one then haha. Lemme re-read, I'll get a reply up!)
(Upon re-red, this is adorable holy-)
Baa scowled at the angel. "Right, you're very fine. I bet they can see that in space. At least let me walk you home. You look like the perfect target to get mugged right now."
And I'm not having that on my conscience, he thought, then mentally laughed at the thought of a demon worrying over his conscience.
(alright! Yeah it is haha)
Cael glared at him half-heartedly. "Fine." he replied, looking away again after a moment, biting his lip a little bit. "It's this way." he gestured down the road.
Baa stuck close to the angel's side as they traversed the city, keeping silent for the moment. He couldn't think of anything to say given the situation, and he didn't want to say the wrong thing and push Cael away when he'd just started not actively avoiding the demon.
Finally an age old question dawned upon him, and he couldn't stop himself from blurting it out.
"What's it like in Heaven?"
Cael blinked. "Oh. Uhm. Lots of rules." He replied slowly. "And…I don't know." He looked down at his feet for a moment, biting his lip for a moment.
"Oh." Baa didn't know what answer he'd expected. "I guess I always thought there would be like sparkles, pretty lights, uh…yeah. Stuff like that. I guess not…?"
He shrugged a little. "I mean, there's…there's that too, there's just a lot of rules and stuff." He didn't really elaborate, unsure how to explain further.
"Oh," Baa said again, feeling a little awkward. "Sorry, if you don't like talking about it."
It was all he could think of. He'd always wanted to go to Heaven, imagining it to be so much better than Hell. Rules or no rules, it HAD to be better, right?
It didn't seem to be, if it had thrown Cael to earth like he was trash. If they had let him be treated the way he had. The small angel was quiet, eyes on the path ahead.
"So you got a cushy place or no?" Baa asked, almost desperate to change the subject and distract Cael from his past. To be honest, he would hate talking about Hell, and suddenly realized the angel might feel the same about Heaven. "Honestly, anything's better than what I've been dealing with I guess, so…no judgment here."
Cael raised a sardonic eyebrow at him. "You saw what my job was, do you think I have a cushy place?" He replied.
Baa grimaced. "Ah, you got me there. Bet it's better than a trash bin though. I haven't had luck finding any job at all, not even the low-life ones. No one wants a demon I guess, whether they know I'm one or not."
Cael shrugged faintly, rubbing his hand against the ring on his finger. The soulmate one, that glinted softly from Baa's presence. "It won't take too much longer to get there." he said.
Baa fell silent, letting Cael lead him through the city. He didn't want to push the angel. He found himself secretly enjoying just the company, conversation or no, and didn't want to lose that. So he simply followed beside Cael's shoulder, idly taking in the dreary city around them.
Cael led him to the small apartment Cael rented; it was only a few rooms, and rather small and cramped. It was on the fourth floor, so it had a decent view, sort of. Cael led him inside and into the elevator, still remaining quiet.
Baa remained silent until they reached Cael's door, then hesitated, recalling how he'd only offered to walk the angel home, nothing else.
"Well, I guess I'll…head out," he said semi-reluctantly. "If you're good."
"I…" he trailed off, glancing up at Baa, then at his door. "Do you have a place to stay for the night?" he asked slowly.
"Yep," Baa lied, trying to sound confident. He tried to give a cocky smile but the expression failed. He stared at Cael for a long second, then sighed.
"Okay, not really. If you count a local dumpster as a place to stay, then sure."
Cael bit his lip faintly, glancing at his door again. "Uhm…do you want to sleep on my couch?" He asked softly, shifting from foot to foot.
"Oh really?" Baa was surprised, but pleasantly so. "I'll take you up on that."
He made to move forward, then stopped and smiled at Cael. "Seriously, thank-you. You don't have to do that."
Cael shrugged, tucking his shoulders in and frowning a little. "I guess." He said, leading Baa inside. "Couch is over there. Bathroom is the first door in the hallway."
(Sorry I've been gone so long, I've had Hell with a download since the 7th ((I've had to download it twice and it's taken 3+ days each time)), and hooooo boy it's still not ready, and yeah that's been consuming my life rn haha. I totally forgot about notebook rip)
"Dope." Baa moved to explore, taking care not to barge into any rooms he hadn't been told about. "Have you lived here long?"
(yikes! What are you trying to download and why isn't it working? And you're fine, don't worry about it!)
He shrugged faintly. "About two months or so." he replied softly. The furniture was a bit sparse, only the necessary ones and no more. A few blankets, and a TV, along with the couch, made up the entire living room. There was no rug, and no extra decorations.
(I'm trying to get Doom Eternal on my brand new pc that I saved up for and got specifically to play doom eternal lol I'm STILL struggling with it, I'm currently stuck in customer service hell with Bethesda…And thanks!)
Baa very quickly came to the end of what was there to explore, and turned to face Cael again. "Not felt the need to…I dunno, make it more comfy? some posters on the walls maybe? a rug at least?"
