It had been 60 days since Corbin had sold Matrix. He had been so unsure of what to do with the demon, so he thought it would be best to send him away for his own good. He was lucky that the buyer had considered his offer. With the money, he was able to get medical attention to his leg and afford new insurance. Now, when he went for a checkup to see how things were going, he was able to walk without a crutch and his limp was slightly less noticeable. He went to the front door of the home, knocking on the door as Orion stood next to him.
The snobby man that had bought Matrix opens the door, "Ah! Welcome! We just about to start!" Those words where followed by yells and jeers from the crowd in the basement where the fight was starting.
Matrix limps out into the ring to boos and jeers. His opponent was across from him. Another demon but this one seemed well cared for. He still had his horns and was muscular and strong. Matrix raises his fists up in a fighting position.
“About to start?” Corbin asked, a frown appearing on his lips. He stepped inside, thinking about their first meeting. There had been a contract, and the man had told him what he planned to do with Matrix. But when he eventually saw what seemed to be about to happen, he knew that the man had lied to him. When they had reached where the audience stood, he looked at the fit demon before looking at the injured one. It took him a moment, but he recognized that as Matrix. Orion seemed to almost sense that something was wrong as well, giving a few barks as he looked at Matrix.
Matrix flinches, looking up at the audience at the sound of the dog barking. His eye had been blackened and it seemed his nose had been broken. His moment of pause was enough though. The punch sent him head first into the opposite wall of the arena. He slumps against the wall coughing. His molten mass's 'armor' had flown off in the other direction. A cut had opened under his eye.
The owner laughs and claps his chubby hands, "Ah… Such entertainment! He has yet to be bested! Maybe today will be it." He exclaims eagerly, "The only way to win one of these fights is to be killed in action!"
“This was not our agreement,” Corbin said, turning to the buyer. “You said he would be used for servant duties, not this,” he snapped. Orion whined, pulling at the leash as he barked again. The dog seemed to have a bit do a connection to Matrix, just from their previous interaction.
Matrix coughs, standing but falling against the wall. The fit demon advances on him with even more jeers.
The owner nods, "He does. In his 'cool down periods he is running errands, cleaning and cooking." He smirks, "And now. He is also our champion. His will to live is quite strong I must say. None of our other demons survived this long." He laughs as if it where nothing
“But you never said anything like this would happen,” Corbin hissed. “You broke the contract, and now I’m backing out and taking Matrix with me.” He had noticed Orion had been pulling, but he just thought that the dog was interested by the crowd. But with one sharp pull, the leash was yanked from his hand and Orion was darting away through the crowds. “Orion!” He called, beginning to follow after the dog after glaring sharply at the man.
Orion was obviously much quicker than Corbin, and before most could react, Orion was bounding into where the fight was taking place. He could be recognized by the service dog vest, and the familiar dangerous appearance as he barked and sailed at the other demon.
Matrix had grabbed the demon around the waist and were wrestling with him, "ORION?!" With that the other demon grabs him around the neck and holds him over his head by the neck
"Stop that dog!" The owner barks to the croud
Orion ran over, his jaw opening and latching onto the other demon’s leg. The dog growled as he pulled, ripping into the demon’s flesh and muscle. Corbin made it to the ring, jogging slightly now. “Orion!” He yelled, giving a sharp whistle to try and get the dogs attention.
The fit demon curses, kicking the dog away and spitting, "Get away mortal shit!" Matrix roars. He swung his injured leg up and smashes the bottom of the demon's jaw. The demon wails and drops Matrix.
Matrix stumbles, his legs giving out on him every try he did to stand
Orion gave a yelp when he was kicked aside. Corbin’s eyes widened as he jogged over, pulling out the pistol that he takes everywhere from its holster on his side. He promptly pistol whipped the fit demon across the side of the head, seeming extremely pissed off that his dog had been hurt. Not wasting much time, he grabbed Matrix by the arm, dragging him to his feet. Orion was up now, not seeming to be injured.
MAtrix stumbled, falling across the arena beside Corbin, "What the-?!" He was half blind now with the first punch of the fight, "The hell are you guys doing here… Orion."
The fit demon roars, shaking his head that resembled bull horns, "Puny humans!"
“Orion is alright, and I’m getting you out of this place,” Corbin said, turning to glance at the other demon. “We are leaving, and if anyone has a fucking problem with that, I will put a bullet in their goddamn head!” He shouted, not afraid to threaten the the crowd. He pulled Matrix up again, supporting him with one arm and grabbing Orion’s leash in his other hand.
Matrix grunts, his knees going out from under him. His already black eye had swollen up so he couldnt open it. His molten mass throbs.
His owner roars, "Get them! Get them!" No one in the crowd moved
Corbin kept his arm around Matrix’s waist, continuing to walk away from the ring, heading through the crowd. He saw the man, and glared sharply at him. “I’m taking him, and don’t expect to get your money back,” he snapped, walking past the man and towards the exit.
The owner was too shocked to say or do anything.
Matrix stumbles a lot. His cuts and wound left a trail of blood where he was
Corbin eventually got outside and went over to his car. He unlocked the doors, opening the passenger side door and carefully setting Matrix down. He opened the back door, and Orion hopped up onto the backseat. He walked around to the drivers side and got into the car, quickly starting it. “Goddamnit,” he cursed softly to himself, pulling out onto the road.
Matrix was huffing for breath. His fangs where bared, 'Why? Why did you come?" His teeth where gritted with pain.
“I came to see how things were going, and the guy was lying to me, so he doesn’t get to keep you,” Corbin said, glancing over at Matrix before looking back at the road. “That shit was just fucked up, so I’m taking you back to my place.”
Matrix doesnt respond until about ten minuets later, "How's it been with out me?" He smiles but only with one side of his mouth. The other side was slightly swollen because of his blackeye
“Well, without you around to make any damages to my house, I’ve had the time to spend the man’s money and fix it,” Corbin started, but he paused after a moment. “But it was.. quiet. And I kept waking up thinking that you would be in my kitchen eating all of the food.”
Matrix smiles and even tries a a laugh but it soon turned to choking. He hadnt had any food or water for a week now. He knew he was also running a fever and other bad stuffs, "Sorry for the trouble…"
“It’s fine,” Corbin said, and a minute later, he pulled into the driveway of his home. He parked the car and turned it off, getting out of the car. He opened the back door, and Orion got out, running up to the front door. He went around to the passenger side, getting Matrix out and wrapping an arm around his waist to support him. “Let’s get you inside so I can address your injuries,” he said before asking. “Are you hungry at all?”
