Nyx kept leaning into Jude's hands, melting for him, eyes still shut. "Mm. I don't have a preference." he replied softly, angling his head a little bit in Jude's hands, a content sigh leaving his mouth.
Nyx kept leaning into Jude's hands, melting for him, eyes still shut. "Mm. I don't have a preference." he replied softly, angling his head a little bit in Jude's hands, a content sigh leaving his mouth.
"Well," Jude breathed, smiling at Nyx's lazy and unclouded look of comfort and feeling the calmest he'd felt in quite a while. "What sounds best right now?" He asked softly, hoping he'd get to see him smile the way he did as many times as possible.
Nyx shrugged. "I don't know." He said softly, opening his eyes to look at Jude, smiling at the other male contentedly. "You should pick."
Jude sighed dramatically, catching sight of a small ball of white and orange in his peripheral. "Do you want me to play some piano for you?" He asked, extending his arms and wrapping them over Nyx's shoulders and glancing at the second-hand upright spinet he barely used. "Or– you can pick a record to play."
Nyx snuggled close to Jude again, and shrugged. "Or you could teach me to play the piano?" He asked, raising his eyebrows curiously.
"You want to learn how to play piano?" Jude smiled amusingly. He planted a kiss on his cheek, noticing Macy's soft meows from another room and nodding at the piano, "Yeah, let's do it."
Nyx smiled a little bit, and got off of Jude, looking at the piano. "Thanks." He said softly.
Jude smiled in reply, moving from the couch and to the piano, pulling out the bench that was long enough for the two of them and lifting up the cover, revealing the rows coloured ebony and ivory. He sighed, taking a seat on the left side and softening his shoulders, "I guess all those years' worth of lessons might pay off after all,"
Nyx sat down beside Jude, looking at the keys curiously. "Mhm." he hesitantly touched a key, listening to the tone it made, then lifted his finger away again, looking at Jude, then at the piano. He wanted to learn. He really did.
“So,” Jude said, running a hovering hand down the keys, “There’s a scale, and you remember which notes they are by these repeated ones,” He loosely gestured to the black keys and the alternating groups of threes and twos. Jude gently pressed down on a few of them, smiling softly at the joined sounds and turning to face Nyx.
Nyx nodded a little, paying close attention to Jude's words, watching and listening. He glanced up at Jude, then back at the piano again, waiting with his hands in his lap.
Jude cleared his throat, smiling faintly at the memory of his first piano lesson. "Twelve different notes, twelve different keys," He said, his hands pressing on each one, moving upward to the higher notes. "You try."
Nyx carefully, hesitantly tried the things Jude had showed him, biting his lip a little bit. He ran a hand through his hair when he was done, looking at Jude.
"Mhm," Jude nodded after Nyx finished, looking at him with a shy smile. He took his left hand, holding it for a moment before gently guiding it over the keys. "Hey," He said, trying not to get distracted by Nyx's bright eyes, "Don't be nervous."
Nyx looked down at the keys as Jude guided his hands. He took a deep breath, focusing on the keys beneath his fingers. He listened to the notes that was being produced.
Jude slowly played the opening chords to Clair De Lune, one of the songs they listened to on their first night together. He sighed softly, not knowing if he'd remember, and glanced at Nyx and his hands, "Okay, now give those notes a try."
Nyx did indeed remember. He had perfect memory because of being a cyborg. He smiled over at Jude. "This was the first song you showed me. The first night." he said, then slowly played the notes, concentrating on the keys again.
"Yeah." Jude beamed, smiling as he nodded at Nyx's playing, "–And you're gettin' it." He played the opening notes on his side again and added a few more that followed, the sounds on the left being deeper than the right.
Nyx listened, watching Jude's hands, then tried it again, focusing on where his hands rested on the keyboard. He chewed on his lip a little bit, glancing over at Jude to make sure he was doing it right.
(gtg to bed soon probably)
"Mhm," Jude smiled reassuringly, his hands moving in slow, practiced steps along the row of black and white.
Nyx kept slowly mimicking Jude's movements, his lower lip caught between his teeth in concentration. His eyebrows drew together a little bit.
Jude nodded at Nyx's repeated pattern, taking note of the fact that he was mirroring and remembering all the right notes. He smiled, glad that he was picking it up quickly and noticing Macy curiously wandering into the living room.
Nyx kept working, not noticing the cat. He narrowed his eyes a little as he focused on the keys.
Jude's hands moved over the keys in a slow practiced count, remembering to stay with the tempo and making sure Nyx was following along. "It's all about timing," He said, clocking each note to accompany the flowing and faster parts. The soft sounds of their playing filled the apartment, probably streaming out into the hall as well, but he knew his neighbors didn't mind.
Nyx nodded a little, still following along with Jude. He bit his lip slightly, hoping his playing was alright. He knew it wasn't perfect, that it was hesitant and slow, but he hoped it was decent.
