Eve stiffened.

Tell me, how is Farah doing? It must've been hard to give up her school. And to her daughter, no less.

eve is a damn good headmistress! anya snapped

I'm not saying she isn't, Rosalind replied. Her words were tricky and her tone was trickier. But she might want to start taking it a bit more seriously. You never know how long it might take Farah to recover…

The white noise vanished from Eve and Anya's ears, signaling Rosalind's departure.

"Eve!" Farah repeated for the umpteenth time. She'd been calling her daughter's name, but she'd been unable to hear.

anya jumped from her sleep. " fuck.."

Farah's eyes were wide. "What in the Otherworld just happened with you two?" she demanded.

Eve's fingers trembled. "Rosalind," she whispered.

anya laced her fingers in eves.

Farah arched her eyebrows. "What did she say?"

"She… indirectly… threatened you."

" an pissed me off.."

Farah pressed her lips together. "Well it wouldn't be the first time. What did she say?"

" basically that your weak." she snapped

Farah sighed quietly. “She’s called me worse.”

Eve clung to her mother’s arm. “I won’t let Rosalind hurt you.”

anya sighed, getting up from hr heating blanket. sh stumbled before finding something to brace on.

Eve shot up and wrapped her arms around Anya. “What do you think you’re doing?”

" getting somthin to eat, i aint ate all day love.."

"I will get you something to eat. You are not moving," Eve objected.

" eve im not broken, tell her farah." anya looked to the older woman for suport

Farah sighed. "Anya, you should stay here to recover. I don't think your sickness will last more than another day, maybe two, but if you keep pushing yourself, it'll be a much longer time before you'll feel better."

"See! I told you," Eve declared, pecking a kiss on Anya's lips. "Tell me what you want, and I'll get it for you from the cantina."

" some soup please.." she said an sat back down, curling into her blanket

"Of course." Eve was out the door quickly.

Farah sighed once Eve left. "What did Rosalind tell you?"

" that she would see us all again. and you made a bad choice choosing eve. it was hidden in her words.."

Farah inhaled swiftly. "Do you think Eve was a bad choice?" she asked, already knowing what Anya would say. "What makes her a good choice?"

" eve was the best choice. shes strong, resilient and reliable"
