"Which I highly doubt," Quincy said before quickly adding on, "If there anything like our village that is. With our elders. Um, yeah."
"Which I highly doubt," Quincy said before quickly adding on, "If there anything like our village that is. With our elders. Um, yeah."
"Um, I-I can't read most of this." She looked over the paper, but the words all seemed to jumble together. "I'm sorry, I may need a little help." It was embarrassing to say out loud, but she really wanted that house.
(Sorry I'm watching an interesting movie.)
Aurelius laughed a little. "Maybe. It's very sad. I've always joked about wanting to go restart and build my own society for the people who truly care about saving dragons and dedicating their lives to study them, but it sure does sound nice. They may be strong, but humans build specialized weapons to pierce their scales and destroy their wings. If we don't do something, they're all going to die. I don't see the point in not coexisting with a species that has eons of wisdom to share."
Valkyrie looked over the paper and started to tell her what to write in the different sections. Most of it was simple things, such as name, age, and date of move-in.
"I know, it is sad that others see dragons as nothing more than beasts. Prizes to be killed," Quincy let out a long sigh, "It's times like these that makes me glad I have this gift and Jade. Without them I would still be holed up at home studying my alchemy."
"Yeah, I'd probably have died without Nox. She brought about a new appreciation for dragons from me. I always lived around them, but she helped me through the toughest things, and she sparked a bit more love and desire to help her and her brethren," Aurelius said.
"I lived around dragons too, and by dragons I mean they're carcasses. I still find it quite ironic my parents and two out of my three older brothers are dragon hunters," Quincy said with a slight laugh, "Jade helped me realize that they weren't evil, blood thirsty creatures."
Mara took the paper and quickly wrote down everything that she needed too. The only thing she was sure she spelt right was her name, the rest was almost unreadable. "There." She shoved the paper towards the man and quickly grabbed her keys and ran out the door. "Riven!" Her dragon was there within 15 seconds of her calling. "Library." Without another word he ran in the direction.
Aurelius smiled. “I couldn’t be happier that you’re here though. You’ve brought a lot to this village. We’re lucky to have someone with your skill set and attitude around.”
Valkyrie thanked the man and followed Mara out, but it was too late. She had already taken off. Valkyrie started jogging towards the library, not wanting to bother Valhalla.
"Thank you," Quincy said blushing slightly at the compliment, "Speaking of my brothers, I haven't seen James in a while. He's the one brother that doesn't hate dragons. Actually has one of his own named Gaea, but he chooses not to associate with villages. He's a strange boy."
(Welp, where are they?)
(Quincy and Aurelius are in the library. Val and Mara are headed there.)
(Everyone is basically in the library.)
Mara slammed the door open. "I'm here." Walking in she looked to the table to see many books plied on it. "Well, anything interesting?" She went and grabbed a book hoping to find a picture the looked like Riven.
Aurelius looked up. “Interesting is one word for it. I have a hunch, and things don’t exactly look good.”
Farron walked over from a darker corner of the library, holding a book open on his hands, reading intently. He went and sat down next to Aurelius, not bothering to acknowledge them and just kept reading.
"What do you mean things don't look good?" Mara turned to face Aurelius. "Did you not find anything?" Was this all a waste of time? She looked through more book, even if she couldn't read she can still see pictures.
“Only vague mentions of a drake hardly spotted by humans,” he explained, “I think that might be our ticket. But the deal is, their numbers are dwindling, or believed to be.”
Valkyrie finally walked in and asked what was happening. Aurelius explained again.
"Why though? Why are they being hunted?" There has to be something? Mara was starting to get a bit frantic. She wanted to know why Riven couldn't fly, or wasn't as big, why he was the only of one his kind around and why he can so in touch with Mara's feelings. Riven wasn't sure if he wasn't allowed in library, but something was wrong with Mara. Can one one you bring her to me?
“Riven, come in,” Aurelius said, “There’s room.”
He stopped for a moment to think of how to tell Mara this.
“Well, I have my guesses as to why Riven’s species in particular might be highly targeted, but in general, dragons are seen as dangerous and hunted for sport and trade.”
“Drakes more then normal,” Farron muttered as he ran his fingers over the old pages of his book, “This book says they were used for races because they were so fast. Some tribes had the losing drakes killed, hence why their numbers are so small.”
River gently press his head against Mara's back and she immediately calmed down. Mara laid her hands on the table and took a deep breath. "Sorry about that. So, what is your theory?" When she can, she was going to travel and see if Riven is the last of his kind?
“Well, as Farron said, they were used for racing in addition to being hunted. But you say Riven is very emotionally in tune with you. Empathy can be manipulated, and it may have made his species an easier target,” Aurelius guessed.
"For racing huh?" How disgusting, can the human race get. And we don't know if there are anymore? Riven felt a bit alone, he couldn't believe his kind was being hunted down for being fast.
“This is all the more reason why we need to go out there. We have a region to go off of. That’s one valuable thing,” Aurelius continued.
"How long are we going to have to wait to go out and actually look?" She wanted to leave now, but she knew that wasn't a good idea.
