This RP is set in a medieval world, so we have knights and castles, and most importantly dragons.
Within this universe, there is a group of people known as Dragoncallers: people who have an innate ability to speak with dragons. They often band together and form secret societies where dragons are protected, because outside of their group, dragons are often feared, and many take to killing them for sport.
Dragoncallers tend to live easy lives, from an economic standpoint. Because of their importance in some parts of society as elite knights on dragonback, they are all provided with at least basic housing, and because they are part of a small village, finding a job is easy. Not all residents of the village have to be able to speak to dragons, although most of them do (sometimes the ability skips generations, and very rarely, outsiders move here), so that also means some Dragoncallers are not from the village. Usually the Gift goes undiscovered, but in some cases, the bearer encounters a dragon, and they are able to communicate.
The village is run by an elder council that dictates everything. They send out patrols, make the rules, and lead any sort of ceremonies, like weddings and funerals. However, they’re old and set in their ways. They’ve also seen a lot, so when the signs of impending doom for the village and all dragons start to show up, they’re slow to act.
Now, it’s up to the younger generation of Dragoncallers to figure out what to do.

I want this to be a fairly serious RP. No one-liners if you can help it, and please, for the love of god, no Mary Sues.
We’re going to keep powers to a minimum. I think someone who practices alchemy is acceptable (and I think I might use my character who can speak to the dead), but less is definitely better here.
Swearing is fine, as long as it’s not constant
Romance is fine, and encouraged, as long as: 1. Both parties agree 2. It doesn’t interfere with main plot 3. You don’t get explicit or gross, because no one needs to see that
LGBTQA+ characters are welcome (but also, don’t make everyone the same sexuality. It gets a little old.)

Background- Born to parents within the Dragon riders' order who were knights. They were a solid middle class family and lived comfortably. One day, when Aurelius was about 10, his parents went into battle, and only his mother's dragon, Nox, came back. He grieved for a long time, sank into a depression for about five years or so, still has lasting effects. He tried to learn to speak to the dead to talk to his parents again, but he can't seem to find them.

Dragon's name, appearance, personality: Ysethen- Male, navy blue dragon, almost looks black with small silver markings on his wings. Ruthless, doesn’t like many people apart from Farron, sometimes can get out of hand but can be easily reigned in if Farron is with him.
Background (occupation, social class, backstory, etc): he lived in another village until his was 15 then moved to the current one. His parents were both knights and Farron trained along side them both. One on a mission, his mother got severely injured and his father died. His personality changed from a warm hearted kid into who he is now. He really talks about his father anymore and always feels he has to live up to him for his mothers sake, who has told him she doesn’t care as long as he is happy.
Other (optional): loves reading and cartography, doesn’t like social interaction much and prefers being alone and riding with Ysethen.

If it does decide to trust you it is a very calm creature and loves attention. It gets jealous easily. Loyal, and brave, will put its life on the line for its master.
Background: Her tribe believed being able to talk to Dragons was a gift and would sacrifice the people who could talk to dragons. They believe that if they do that the four element dragons would bless them with good food, water land, all that good stuff. Marahasi was one of those people, after hundreds of years of waiting. Before the day she would get sacrificed she ran away and found herself in a cave where she found and met Riven. There's more but I'll save the rest for later.
Other (optional): Riven is and excellent swimmer, climber and because of his small size he's also really fast. But just because he's small doesn't mean he isn't strong. He can't fly, But his speed, swimming and climbing make up for it. And he can only carry two people.
