"Oh… She should be able to go home tonight, as long as her vitals and her leg look good," Madeline said with a small smile.
"Oh… She should be able to go home tonight, as long as her vitals and her leg look good," Madeline said with a small smile.
“Okay, great. I’ll leave you two be.” Liam winked at the two before heading back into the room with a smile.
A choke-like sound came from Harper, and Madeline turned to glare at him.
"What did Madi say?" Kasey asked as Liam walked back in.
Liam was still grinning like crazy.
"Well, as long as you're okay you're free to go later on tonight." He replied.
"Great!" Kasey exclaimed with a grin of her own. "That's not the only reason you're grinning, though, is it? What were they doing over there?"
Liam shrugged, "It looked like they were about to kiss or something and were both very embarrassed when I walked out. Harper especially."
Kasey snorted and rolled her eyes.
"I swear, those two have had crushes on each other for the longest time. I can't believe they actually finally did something about it…" she trailed off, looking thoughtful. After a moment, a smirk took over her lips and she looked at Liam. "Help me out of bed?"
Liam cocked his head to the side before nodding, "Of course." He walked to the side of the bed and helped Kasey get her legs over the side of the bed. He wrapped an arm around her waist to help her stand.
Kasey leaned on Liam for support, closing her eyes for a moment as blood rushed to her legs. She grabbed her phone from beside the bed and nodded toward the door.
"Adorable blackmail," she explained, holding up her phone with a grin.
"What are you planning?" Liam asked, leading them slowly towards the door with an amused smile on his face.
"Just going to take some pictures… And maybe a few videos," Kasey chuckled as they reached the door. She turned slightly, holding a finger to her lips to tell him to stay quiet.
Liam nodded and put a hand over his mouth to muffle his laugh as they peaked round the corner.
This time, the pair was even closer together than before, and Harper had bent down to rest his forehead on Madeline's. They seemed to be talking in low voices, as their lips were moving, but the words were lost on their way to Kasey's ears.
Kasey smiled and pulled up the camera on her phone, snapping a few pictures. The space between the older adults started to shrink, and she quickly changed to video mode and started taping it. As soon as Harper's lips met Madeline's, Kasey's phone slipped from her fingers and crashed to the floor.
"Crap," she muttered, glancing over at her brother.
Harper was walking over to them, Madeline in tow. He raised an eyebrow in a silent question of Why?
Liam chuckled a little and held one hand up in innocence while the other still held Kasey, "This was her idea, not mine." He said, grinning.
Kasey shot Liam a look like, Thanks a lot.
"Kase… Why?" Harper asked in a low voice as he stopped in front of her.
"Um… Why, what?" Kasey asked, feigning innocence.
"Why were you recording us? And don't play dumb with me. I know you too well."
"It's just… You two have had the biggest crushes on each other for as long as I can remember! And Liam said he saw you guys basically making out over here, so I wanted evidence," Kasey babbled defensively.
"Woah woah woah. I never said I saw them making out, I said it looked like they were about to kiss. There is a difference, Kasey," Liam said, rolling his eyes.
"Shh… They didn't have to know that!" Kasey hissed at him, her lips twitching up in a small smile. After being cooped up for so long, even if it really hadn't been that long, she was just itching for something exciting.
Harper let out a half-sigh/half-groan-like sound and ran a hand through his hair. "Kasey… Maybe we should talk about this later? When we have less of an audience?"
"It's just Liam and Madi, Harps. It's not like it's that big of a deal," Kasey said, putting her free hand on her hip.
"Fine, okay. Yes, we've liked each other for a while now, but we never acted on our feelings for reasons if rather not say at the moment. And what Liam saw before he walked in was me asking Madeline out." He paused to shoot the young doctor a small smile. "And what you just saw was us discussing when our first real date would be."
Kasey grinned at the two of them. "Well, finally! It's about time!"
Liam chuckled, "Congrats man. I'd make a joke about you finally growing some balls to ask her out but don't want you to zap me with whatever super power you have…" He ran a hand through his hair with a grin.
Harper chuckled and shook his head. "Thanks, I guess. And it's shapeshifting."
Madeline cleared her throat and took a step out from behind Harper. "If we're quite done talking about my love life, I'd like to check Kasey."
Kasey frowned and looked at the ground. She really just wanted to go home at the point.
"The quicker Madeline checks you Kasey the quicker you can go home." Liam said gently, pressing a kiss to her head before leading her slowly into the room again.
"Fine…" Kasey sighed, allowing Liam to lead her to the bed as Madeline trailed behind. "I forgot, I dropped my phone back there."
"I'll get it, don't worry," Harper said with a smirk.
"Don't you dare do anything to it!" Kasey called over her shoulder.
"I make no promises~" her brother singsonged, already holding the phone in his hands.
Liam chuckled and shook his head a little as he set Kasey down on the bed, "Come on Harper…"
Kasey kept hold of Liam's hand after he set her down, not willing to let go just yet. Madeline started her check up almost immediately, so Kasey didn't have time to respond to Harper.
He, on the other hand laughed as he walked over to the bed. Phone in hand, he sat at the foot of the bed and watched as his girlfriend looked over his sister.
"I was teasing, calm down," he chuckled, careful tossing the phone into Kasey's lap.
Liam rolled his eyes and shook his head a little, "Siblings…" He muttered, rubbing at his face with his free hand.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Harper asked with a raised eyebrow, a hint of laughter in his voice.
Madeline finished her check up and stepped back from the bed. "Everything looks good, so you should be able to go home tonight."
"Thank goodness," Kasey breathed, leaning back on the bed.
